Beautiful property surrounded with hills, mountains and obviously rainforest! I love the "back to nature, back to basic" concept of this resort. Tastefully prepared vegetarian meals - all organic and yummy! Cool and scenic surroundings, good for photography.

Situated one hour journey from city, this place will make your mind and soul get a rest where nature comes in the right place. Bring your own snacks and drink since there no convenience store nearby and the scenery is breathaking

Rooms are basic and everything works. No TV which is the best because nobody comes here to stay in the room. Nice golfing and jungle walk. Simple but nice food. Heated pool only small which was good enough for me. Set breakfast which was good.

The pool, sauna and steam bath looks unutilized and dirty!!I pay for 2 rooms which cost RM700++, considered a 5-star hotel price but unsatisfying hospitality and facilities. We understand this is an easy-going hotel resort but when we wanted have a tour around by using the hotel buggy, everything is charged. This is already an overpriced ONE STAR hotel and it still doesn't including a basic tour around for the in-house guest? For the annah rais restaurant, we understand that it is serving vegetarian food but at least some standard food. There is one staff that always give us a bad face even no smiling to us.

It's a fantastic place to visit, just approx 1¼ hour drive from Kuching town. It offers great views from some 1K meters above sea level. We have a game of golf (foursome) and had a wonderful time. The course is well crafted out of a highland jungle and fairways are pretty OK though bunkers & greens left much to be desired. Overall, it was a trip worth visiting.

Borneo Highland Resort is built on a very huge and high land. Because of that, you can see clouds from the 5th floor (around 30 rooms and 5 flours and yes there is a lift). The Annah Rais Café: the cutlery and drinking glasses not been cleaned properly (stains and sticky). I noticed this during my 3 days stay there. The food served in this café is vegetarian no doubt but the quality of food is bad. Dinner: The Tom Yum Soup tasted like watery soup with chilies. The Sago Dessert was watery as well – no taste really. The second day, they served banana for breakfast and dinner as the dessert when the resort claims to have an organic farm for fruits and vegetables but can only serve watermelon and bananas on 3 days. The breakfast is again bad; at the bread counter you will find 3 big bowls or kaya and margarine both kept in the open and expect everyone to dig in and use it as spread. Yes they had buffet for breakfast and dinner but also ala cart menu. I observed the next table who ordered from the ala cart menu; left behind a lot of uneaten food – quality of food again. If the resort wants to make their café vegetarian its fine but at least improve on the quality of food and have a better menu or even have a better qualified chef. One thing the resort should not do is to charge resort guest (who paid to stay in the resort), for the usage of the Jungle Spa which includes the pool, sauna and steam bath @ RM 30.00 and additional RM5.00 for towel. Btw, the pool was under repair so that was a big disappointment. The rooms; the hotel rooms are generally clean. I was told that the water pressure is not strong if you book to stay on level 5. Just pray that it does not rain. Because when we arrive it was raining and guess what, we had to deal with the water quality in the taps. The water was from yellow to brown. And then the flush had problems and was leaking all the way although they tried to repair. The towels in the rooms though they smelt fresh but are really bad when it comes to drying yourself after a shower as it’s not absorbent. The bed linen are off white instead of the white it should be. Maybe the resort might want to consider changing their bed linens. What I love about this place is the lush nature around this place; the walks that you can go for hours and just enjoy the cool breeze or the sounds of nature. The staff in this resort are nice, friendly and tries to accommodate your request. There is sale of fresh organic produce such as long beans and French beans for RM7.00 a packet. There is a in house shop that only sells golf equipment.

The recommended time to visit Borneo Highland if you wish to enjoy the sunset or walking around before the sun goes up is about 7am. You gonna love the scenery of boundary Sarawak-Kalimantan. We planned this trip early as we drive by ourself.

Okay, this is a review based solely on my experiences with the staff at Borneo Highland Resort. I wasn’t a guest at the hotel. The encounter with the staff began at the security gate after I had found myself in the unfortunate situation of being almost out of fuel and without cash to buy some gasoline with. As there was no ATM anywhere close and I was perilously running out of fuel, I asked the security guard if I could maybe travel up to the reception and the staff could charge my bank card and give me the cash back. After a call to reception, he waved me through and I began the 10km trip up to the reception. Upon arriving at reception, the call between security and the hotel staff had somewhere got lost in translation and the staff were unable to charge my bank card and give me the cash back. The staff were two girls and two guys whose names I didn’t catch. They were wonderful, so apologetic of the misunderstanding and seeking to help me resolve my predicament. Then they offered me some of their own money from their purse/wallet in order for me to be able to purchase some gasoline and make my way back to Kuching! It was an incredibly sweet and generous deed the staff made for me and I felt incredibly thankful to the staff for this. On leaving they waved me off smiling and wishing me good luck as I set off back through the beautiful grounds of this resort. As previously said, it’s not a comment from a hotel/resort guest - merely from someone who received an incredible act of kindness and sincerity from the staff at the resort. I felt this was a way I could thank them for this and hopefully people reading this thinking of booking into the resort can be assured they will be greeted by sweet, kind and welcoming staff. Thank you again.

Good local as well mix of Chinese and Malay food. Friendly staff and good environment. Be careful to tell the level of spiciness you prefer, some dishes are very hot, I mean chilly hot. Food pricing I would not say cheap but ok.

Almost two hours drive from Kuching. The drive over the mountain little challenging due to my old car. The days we stayed were cloudy and nice weather (i mean, not sunny). Those who don't need entertainment, and want to relax this is a good option near Kuching. After 6PM it becomes full dark and no other activity than enjoying the chillness and various sounds from nature. The cellphone signal and WiFi are not strong, so no contact to zombie world. The surrounding is entirely dark and no television, which makes a good place for self discovery. Kids get bored for almost no entertainment. The staff were friendly and helping. The restaurant is good for me as a vegetarian. During night and even day time we see lot of insects, which is understandable due to the location. Thankfully no mosquitoes found. Walk from hotel to Kalimantan view was wonderful. The room was clean. Overall we had very good and satisfying trip.
