Took more than 1 hour to check in with 2 counters! Average check in time per customer more than 15 mins although you have done the online booking with all details available! I think you shall have more counters to open to cater if we notice there is long queue
I have traveled to many places, and I’ve stayed in so many type of rooms and none had ever disappoint me like a stay in Merdeka Palace. As a Kuching resident this is not how I would like the quality of a 3-star hotel in my home town to be represented as. Don’t let the excellent location of the hotel fool you. First of all the hotel is gloomy and very dated. The room is dusty everywhere from the floor mats, curtains, walls and even lighting. Essentials such as iron and fridge are not available in the room. Extra pillow? Extra charge. Internet? You also need to pay extra for that. Even other cheaper hotels in the city could offer free wifi. Would I stay here again? Definitely no. Would I recommed you to stay here? NO - there are many other hotels in Kuching at a slight premium price but with much better experience for your memorable vacation in Kuching.…
we check in for 4 of us with 1 kid. Smooth check in with helpful front desk staff. room clean. look a bit beaten off but nostalgic. parking ample spaces and easy. near good shopping complex very usefull. unable to enjoy much of kuching sarawak due to it was raining the whole period of stay. good hotel for family alike.
was given a room upgrade on arrival because this was the 4th time we've stayed there (over 10 yrs). The service is still excellent, staff pleasant and the room old but clean. Breakfast had a huge choice, leant mainly Asian but had eggs fried, boiled, poached, scrambled and one cereal changed daily. Located 100m from shopping mall. $30 by cab from airport or $11 by GRAB car.
We were travelling as a group with several elderly members. This is easily the worst hotel any one of us had ever stayed in. The two apartments we rejected had: * Toxic black mould around air conditioning vents and all the bathroom ceilings. * Pervasive stench of mould and rot. * Sodden bathroom ceilings where water had soaked through from above. * Flaking paint with black mould underneath. * Rotting carpet where water had obviously sat for extended periods of time. * Excessive stains, scuffs, and marks on all surfaces. The third apartment we settled for (and tolerated) had: * Weak and ineffective air conditioning. All the thermostats were broken. * Several light bulbs were burnt out. * Wifi was unreliable and completely unavailable in the evenings and in most of the bedrooms. * Loose power sockets that were coming off the walls. Some required jiggling to work. * Badly chipped and broken furniture. * Dank showers with ingrained stains and dirt. We did not want to touch the walls or the floors. * Trip hazards - power cable set up to trail across doorway. * Atrocious TV reception, of the same quality as in the 80s. Generally the hotel was extremely poorly maintained: * The gym looked like something from a prison. * The pool water had the clarity of bodily fluids. * Puddles and trip hazards everywhere around the gym and pool deck. The only positive is the responsive staff. But they could not prop up what was effectively a condemnable building.…
