Affordable suite. Suitable for a group more than 4. Unfortunately, the room was not sound proof. We can hear people talking from outside. The accommodations are very good. The hotel has swimming pool for children to swim. Overall i was satisfied.
I don't really know how to say this but the hotel is barely holding together both furnishing and amenities. I'm ok with somethings not working but when the door knob literally comes off the door, the safe doesn't even work nor the hair dryer, or the room phone is broken and left in a drawer. Like basic things have to work. The room is clean-ish. The bed is comfy though, the rain shower is awesome, its a big queen sized room for 1 pax for a business trip. This hotel has certainly seen better days, I know its rough from Covid and etc, but the pool is dead and green, the kids playground looks like its out of a horror film, none of this is said on the website that these amenities are no longer available. It is convenient that it is 30min from the airport by car, there is a big mall opposite and its near the Borneo Cultural Museum. I mean, its very average to get you by. I do hope they improve and things get repaired.…
Looks 4 stars from outside and the lobby but the rooms do need an overhaul and thorough wipe-down. Booked a suite and it was huge but space not utilised properly and had odd corners and mismatched (ugly/dated, more like). Alot of dust on overhead shelves so if you flick dustballs scatter and fall like large snowflakes only they are grey and fuzzy. carpet was so stained i automatically uttered: omg somebody was murdered here when i entered and got scolding from family. But for the pricepoint, there really shouldnt be complaints. it is quite cheap - even considering kuching prices. oh the kitchen was dark but the fact that there even was a kitchen at this price shd be a huge consolation - even if the freezer was mouldy and there was a layer of water collecting. But other than these physical attributes, service was pretty good. counter staff were polite and accommodating. no breakfast included in price but it is very cheap. even that we didnt have bfast there cos the restaurant looked a bit sad with no customers eating there. Location-wise - its convenient, near shopping mall and the new pedestrian bridge over kuching river. and just a short distance from the river promenade. Oh, stayed during the mooncake festival fiesta which was located within walking distance - 2 blocks down road so was a very convenient stay. Beds were comfortable and surprisingly clean so that's all that mattered at the end of the day. We were comfortable after all said.…
I can understand its an aged hotel and upgrading or makeovers are not in the cards. But why can't it be spotless? The washrooms had a lot of black spots, stains, mold stains everywhere. I found couple of hair strands on one of the towels.
The only ups on this hotel would be the location, poor Maintenence and hotel needs an upgrade. Price was fair for the type of room you’ll get. Can notice from the lobby that this was a 5 star hotel back in days but it was poorly maintained. Shower area covered in mole, carpet wasn’t clean enough. F&B staff were sort of rude in a way. Wouldn’t stay if it’s wasn’t fully booked everywhere.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and kind. It's located very close to the waterfront right next to the wonderful brand new cultural museum which is free. The hotel is in very poor condition badly needs maintenance - multiple plugs in the rooms don't work, carpets haven't been cleaned in years, mold around the units, broken furniture. Everything is extremely outdated. We changed rooms after the first night. The spa was basic but lovely staff, very reasonable.
Took more than 1 hour to check in with 2 counters! Average check in time per customer more than 15 mins although you have done the online booking with all details available! I think you shall have more counters to open to cater if we notice there is long queue
I have traveled to many places, and I’ve stayed in so many type of rooms and none had ever disappoint me like a stay in Merdeka Palace. As a Kuching resident this is not how I would like the quality of a 3-star hotel in my home town to be represented as. Don’t let the excellent location of the hotel fool you. First of all the hotel is gloomy and very dated. The room is dusty everywhere from the floor mats, curtains, walls and even lighting. Essentials such as iron and fridge are not available in the room. Extra pillow? Extra charge. Internet? You also need to pay extra for that. Even other cheaper hotels in the city could offer free wifi. Would I stay here again? Definitely no. Would I recommed you to stay here? NO - there are many other hotels in Kuching at a slight premium price but with much better experience for your memorable vacation in Kuching.…
we check in for 4 of us with 1 kid. Smooth check in with helpful front desk staff. room clean. look a bit beaten off but nostalgic. parking ample spaces and easy. near good shopping complex very usefull. unable to enjoy much of kuching sarawak due to it was raining the whole period of stay. good hotel for family alike.
was given a room upgrade on arrival because this was the 4th time we've stayed there (over 10 yrs). The service is still excellent, staff pleasant and the room old but clean. Breakfast had a huge choice, leant mainly Asian but had eggs fried, boiled, poached, scrambled and one cereal changed daily. Located 100m from shopping mall. $30 by cab from airport or $11 by GRAB car.
