Stayed recently in the Puteri Wing, and our main impression was that it's pretty grubby. Lots of mould and damp problem, and our whole floor smelt horribly musty and damp. Lots of stains all over the carpets, and there seemed to be an ant problem in our room- as shown in my photo, there were even ants running over the phone! The one saving grace is that this place is pretty cheap. I have also stayed in the Hilton Kuching, it's not hugely more expensive, however it is a much nicer/more polished hotel.
Great location. Quite comfortable. Looks a little old and tired. Needs refurbishment. But that would make it expensive. For the tariff you pay it is value for money. Ask for higher floor, 11th gives you views of River Sarawak.
Hotel is located alongside the river, ferries are available to cross the river and there are small restaurants along the esplanade, local to some craft shops, the staff were very helpful, the rooms were comfortable but note the hotel has two wings and our rooms were in the new wing, their is a swimming pool in the old wing but this was in shade for much of the day
I recently stayed in a Twin Room at the old wing (Puteri Wing), for 3 nights. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the Kuching River and had a clear view of the Sarawak State Assembly Building. Considering the stunning view, the room was rather disappointing. Our kettle was broken, and a number of the cabinets in the room were missing handles. The carpet of our room was old and worn out. There were a lack of toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs etc were not provided). In addition, the drain of the bathtub was not functioning properly and failed to open. Fortunately, the front desk was very helpful, and staff came to fix the problems in our room within a short amount of time. Our beds were comfortable and we were well-rested. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory, though the menu did not change over the 3 nights we were there. Considering that this was the old wing of the hotel, our experience was reasonably pleasant, though improvements could definitely be made.…
Stayed in this hotel for 2 night. Arrived around 9pm. There was a one staff at the counter on that time. She was not friendly, looked stressful and a bit grumpy. Maybe she tired i think. The room is spacious and old school. Although it look like old, the hotel still provide a complete set of tower and toiletries. The breakfast is ok but with 2 day, the menu is same.
I recently stayed at this hotel whilst competing in a dragon boat regatta. I found staff friendly and approach, multiple languages spoken to a wide group of tourist from all over the world, rooms were modern and comfortable with great showers. The location of the hotel is well situated near the river and the a variety of commercial districts. Good breakfast buffet daily I would stay here again
We traveled in a large group and the Riverside (older wing) had some problems adjusting to the influx of visitors. I believe that there were several groups checking in as well leaving the staff (and housekeeping) flustered. We were missing key items like towels/toiletries etc. We had an ant problem in several of the rooms but housekeeping solved this with equipping each room with bugspray. Generally, the staff seemed hardworking but unable to cope. Cleanliness also needs to be improved. Perhaps the management needs to anticipate the need for increase headcount especially when hotel is running on full house. Other than this, its location is key and probably the most redeeming feature. With a mini supermarket / pharmacy below, you were able to purchase key items such as food / drinks / toiletries. …
Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on 2 different stays. The lobby is very welcoming as are the staff. Rooms are of a good size however the original wing of the hotel where we stayed does need updating ; fresh paint, mould removal, stain removal from carpets. However the hotel is in a perfect location situated right near the waterfront where there are some lovely places to eat and you can watch the water fountain show that is on every evening. The breakfast buffet has good choice of food the only thing is the food does not appear very hot. But staff are attentive removing unwanted plates and glasses quickly.
The hotel is located in the center of Kuching city and the waterfront area. Next to the hotel is a mall called Riverside Shopping Complex. The hotel room looks a bit old but is fairly clean. Large and safe parking area. It's only a problem that the access card to the top floor was rather difficult when scanning in the elevator, it looks like the card was less sensitive. Very good service. Next time, I will come back. Thumbs up.
The location of the hotel is good, it is just a stone throw from the river front of Sarawak River, however your view of the river is partially blocked by another hotel which is located directly across the road. My room was at the Putri Wing of the hotel on one of the higher floors. The room had a shabby / tired looking carpet, dirty bathtub and soap dish, and water did not drain well. The bidet was a plus. I phoned for my daily quota of bottled water which was never delivered. However, you do have a choice of pillows, whether cotton or polyester, etc. just let them know. The staff were polite. If you are fond of seafood, go to Topspot Foodcourt at Jl. Bukit Mata, about 6 minute walk from the hotel, pick your fish or prawn or crab from one of the many food stalls, ask the cook for their recommendation then get yourself a table. The seafood selection the foodcourt is incredible.…
