We stayed in the Traveller Homestay for three nights in November. This was the first time we have stayed in a homestay and it certainly won’t be our last. Our double room was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The air conditioning in the room was useful after a day in the humidity of Kuching. There are tea and coffee making facilities as well as a comfortable lounge area and roof terrace area. The showers are powerful, hot (if needed) and always clean. The homestay is located above a very tasty restaurant (can recommend the almond biscuits, char sui buns, laksa, homemade lemonade). You could hear movement at opening and closing time but it was otherwise quiet. There are numerous shops and restaurants on the doorstep, the centre of Kuching was a 10 minute walk away. Moi, our host, was wonderful. She helped us get to Bako National Park by public bus (stops 2 minutes away from the homestay) and kept in contact to make sure we had arrived. As we were travelling in low season and the rooms were not fully booked, we were able to leave our bags in our room overnight while we stayed in Bako. A great place for travellers who want a quiet place to stay and are missing some of the comforts of home.

Would highly recommend Traveller Homestay. The place itself is clean, comfortable and convenient. Facilties good & clean. Cosy living area and comfortable bed. Location is an easy walk to the waterfront. Lots of Chinese cafes nearby for trying local food. Also a laundry place minutes away which was helpful. Easily got the bus to Bako national park from Moi's place, leaving our luggage at hers. Also she helped book us on a tour to the orangutans & kayaking down Sandang River, which we would highly recommend. Moi very lovely host, super helpful & kind. Thanks so much for our stay, we felt very welcomed.

If you need a place to stay in Kuching, Traveller Homestay should be it! We really enjoyed our stay. The Homestay is very nice, clean and gives you that the lovely feeling of being at home. The house itself is situated on the second floor and if you enter you won't believe your eyes. There's so much to see, like photo's and memerabilia. Worth to take look around. The owner, names Moi, will provide you with information (also on information plates on the walls) about the surrounding, maps and is more than helpful with organizing the tours you'd like to do in and around Kuching. We would like to say that we feel that Moi is our Kuching-mother. We liked our stay that much! The Homestay is in China Town, which is a lovely place to be and quiet nonetheless. It was a 15 minute drive to the airport and 5-10 minutes to Kuching Waterfront. We think the location is absolutely perfect. We were so fortunate to stay in this gem!

We spent almost 2 weeks in Traveller Homestay and we really liked our stay. The owner is helpful and takes care of the hostel. She often is cleaning the bathroom and when we wanted to change our towels and bed sheets, she did it. The location is great, you can reach the centre with walking. The price is very nice for this service. We got some souvenirs from the owner when we left the hostel. Location of the homestay is very good, at the eastermost building in Chinese district. 20 minutes walking from the waterfront, or 4-5 myr grab to get there. The only thing she could add is breakfast, downstairs there is a restaurant so it would be easy 🙂

We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. In fact, we extended our stay from 2 to 8 nights! The place is nice and clean. The rooms offer enough space for storage. The bathroom is clean and the showers work well. You can easily ask for new towels and bed linen if necessary. Moi is a lovely host. She wants her guest to enjoy the stay in Kuching. You can easily contact her via WhatsApp if you have any questions. She helps you with information and also with booking tours if you are interested. There is a Chinese restaurant downstairs (the staff is also veryyy nice). Any store you need is nearby (mini mart, supermarket, pharmacy, smaller stores, restaurants). It‘s only a 10 minute walk to the waterfront. We would definitely come back to this place! Just one thing: If you are a light sleeper, room no 1 might be too noisy for your because of the street noise from outside. Nevertheless we slept very well even though it was noisy sometimes - maybe because we felt so comfortable staying at this place.

I had a very lovely stay at Moi's place. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and Moi made me feel at home. The place is nicely decorated with all kinds of pictures of Sarawak and from her own family history. It's in a good location with lots of food all around, including the restaurant downstairs. I hope to stay here again when I return to Kuching soon!

What a great place to base yourself at! Bags of character, friendly, comfortable, clean, well-appointed and full of interesting artefacts. We planned on staying just a couple of nights, we ended up staying 5! Moi, the enthusiastic and proud owner, goes out of her way to help with whatever you need. Free coffee, tea and water are available at all times and you only need to walk downstairs for a selection of cheap but delicious breakfasts in Moi's friendly and bustling shop/cafe. All in all a fabulous place, a favourite of our holiday! We'd certainly stay there again.

I felt right at home in this cozy, clean hostel with plenty of local color and local food options right downstairs. Moi or her brother always seemed to be around and she was always checking if I needed anything, so I felt very comfortable here as a solo traveler. It was a short walk down to the waterfront as well. I would recommend it as great value for money - you get a simple, clean room all to yourself for a reasonable price. (Pro-tip - there's also an ironing board upstairs if needed.)
