Rafflesia Inn is centrally located in Kuching city. We are just 20 minutes from the Kuching International Airport. The Inn is conveniently close to some of Kuching’s key attractions and no more than a few minutes’ walk from an array of some of Kuching’s major tourist attractions, restaurants, cafés & shops, banks, city shopping malls, other 5-star hotels, and franchise outlets such as KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut and 7-Eleven. A stroll by the calm city centre which stretches from Chinatown Padungan to the picturesque Kuching Waterfront takes only about 10 minute walk.

My sister and I stayed at the Rafflesia in May this year for a week. When we arrived the receptionist greeted me by name and we were able to check in to the room early. To have air-con and a private bathroom for the rate charged was amazing. We were very grateful to be looked after extremely well by the manager who could not have been more generous and helpful, arranging trips and giving us lots of information on the local customs and culture. The other staff were also helpful and friendly. The ONLY down-side was the noisy-ish nights (local bars) but the kindness we received more than made up for this. Also awesome location 5min from the river-front. Would definitely go back.

As far as value for money goes, I am struggling to think of a better place I have stayed in anywhere in the world. At a cost more or less the same as a private room in a hostel, you can stay in a private room at the Rafflesia Inn and have your own bathroom, TV and AC. If you stay on the ground floor, you can access their free wifi from your room but probably not if you stay on the top floor.

Location is right near the river, shops and many other bars and restaurants. The owner Chris is fantastic and will go out of his way to take you on private tours at about the 1/4 of the price of other tour guides. This came in handy for a solo traveler as Sarawak isn't always price friendly to solo travelers.

Although the down stairs bar has since moved, the karaoke bar is still next door and can be pretty loud and disturbing. However, given the price and all things involved, the pro's far out weigh this single con.

I highly recommend.

It's located about 10-15 mins walk from the Main Bazaar. We stayed in the twin room. It cost us RM65 a night, which includes en-suite private bathroom with water heather, towels, telly, aircond and free wifi. On top of that, there is an open lounge with tv & dvds, books to read and a public pc. The best is having Hansen (the owner) and his staff ever ready for absolutely anything! - suggestion on food and places to go, a personal guide to Satok Market and a chauffeur to the airport. You name it, they have it.

Suggestion : walk to the reception area and spend some time talking to Hansen. You'll be amazed and inspired :)

For only RM60/night (single a/c room with phone, tv, free wifi, private bathroom and room service), I spent one night in Kuching before I was off to my final destination. I was welcomed by the very friendly and helpful staff, which made me feel home immediately. There is a cozy lounge inside and a recently finished "longhouse" balcony on the first floor, which you are always welcome to use. The co-owner Mr Hanson is a professional guide, who can show you around in Sarawak -- he is a very generous and honest man and offers prices for his private (!) tours which are way below normal rates. I can just highly recommend Rafflesia Inn!

I first checked in at Rafflesia's previous location after a disastrous first night in Kuching June 2010, upon talking with Mr Hanson, a co-owner the night before.
As it turned out, I had stumbled onto a hidden gem on the waterfront. Single a\c rooms at US$15 with room service and phone and attached showers, it is hard to beat!
Mr Hanson is an affable and generous man, a professional guide to boot, he took us tourists from Australia, UK and Canada on tours to the local hotspots at way below market rates. It is like being hosted by someone in the Family. That was my immediate impression and I am a seasoned backpacker having backpacked all over SEAsia.I have been back every year since and look forward to the smiles of Front Desk Receptionist Davina and the rest. This year, I found that they have moved a few blocks away to larger premises and right by the Sarawak River. Housing over 24 hotel style rooms, this is a major upgrade in esthetics, roominess and taste. As well, Rafflesia is located in a cul de sac away from the main arterial roads and sort of in a calm riverfronted Oasis! As we speak, I am into my 3rd week here and just got back from some nightclubbing hosted by Mr. Hanson and friends last night. I look forward to staying with Rafflesia every single time I fly into Kuching, as part of my winter escape from Vancouver, Canada.
Try the Rafflesia Inn out and I assure you, you will make new friends and never look back!

Everything is just a walking distance, shopping mall, main bazaar, riverfront etc..
And it just RM 60/night, such good value for money.
The owner Mr Hansen is just amazing, great to meet him. If you need any information just enquiry at reception, they are very friendly and willing to serve you.
If you need any tours they can arrange it for you, the prices will below than normal rates.
Try the seafood at ABC Restaurant at Top Spot Kuching, the taste and price was good.
Will back to Rafflesia Inn for my next visit.

High recommend to stay at Rafflesia Inn!

Th hotel itself appears nice and well set up. The rooms are moldy and the air condition doesn't cool very well. And then there is no wifi in the rooms. We were willing to overlook all of these inconveniences as we are seasoned travellers, but then the bars kicked off. Music was pumping until 3 am on a week night. Even with earplugs in, the vibration kept us awake. All the hotel could offer was to move us into another room, no thanks. We opted to sleep the night somewhere else, even with no money back.

Love their great service!

Great budget for your stay @ Kuching!
Everywhere, foods & shopping & waterfront walk is around near the hotel.
Great Service at counter!
Their Staffs are very friendly. They gave us a lot of information for our walks. We even booked Bako National Park Trek with Chris as our guide! Chris is even a excellent guide with a lot of knowledge on natures! Thumbs up!

Most Highly Must-To-Book their hotel!
