Batu Bata Guesthouse offers you one of the best lodging you can find here in Kuching. We are here because we know we can provide you everything you need in a modest, yet efficient way. Assisting you with guides and informations, and also to make sure comfort and happiness is there during your stay. With a rustic concept, you can feel the ambience straight away as one enters the place. We appreciate bricks here as Batu Bata means bricks in Malay. There is cement screed floors and counters, antique vase, unique plants, handicrafts decor, classic radio and music player, photographs of tribal people and warriors, bamboo shelves, naked brick walls and many more. We have 30 beds here, and our beautiful outdoor balcony with amazing view available on both floors. Our amazing shower tops it off with high power flow from the ceiling shower head not only for a place to bath, but also to refresh your mind when taking a bath. Our amenities here are laundry service, book exchange, free Wi-Fi accessible through top floor, PC, TV room, breakfast area, kitchen, luggage storage and many more.

We really enjoyed staying here. The rooms are nice and the shared facilities are always clean. Filtered water was always available for free and we have been allowed to use the washing machine. The staff was really helpful and friendly 👍

In the Center of Kuching, in the Chinatown Street. You go out and you're in. Good foodstalls one minute away. The interior is very pleasing: dark wooden colors, cool temperature, and calm atmosphere. All is clean. More personal than a hotel.

There aren't any complaints about staying here! It's a great location, perfect for backpackers to wander the streets of kuching, great food and shops at their fingerprints. We stayed in a double room that is pretty small but if you're just using the room as a place to lay your head at night, it does the job perfectly. The rooms are a little noisy so i would recommend earplugs as the double rooms with windows face the streets. The staff are lovely, kind and helpful. Would definitely go back!

Stayed for almost a week here! In a private double room with AC, shared bathroom. Everything is very clean, neat, and pleasant. The walls are a little thin but it's not super busy here and people are generally very respectful. There is a small kitchenette for public use that includes a fridge, free tea and instant coffee and sugar, cups, plates, and utensils, and a hot/cold water dispenser. The bathrooms are clean, have TP, and hand soap. The beds and pillows should also be mentioned as they are in great condition! Foamy, comfy, and clean! Great location! In the center of Carpenter street (chinatown area). Next to 7-11 and across the street from a food court. It's a short walk to the local buses that take you to Bako, the sunday market, and Semengohh. A block to the mall, the waterfront, and post office. Close to cafes for morning meanderings and cafes open late for evening bites and beers. The front desk lady is delightful, always asking about our days, making small chat. Always available by bell if not at the desk. All in all, great stay!

This guest house is located right in china town only one street back from the main bazaar and waterfront - perfect. Warm & cosy place with friendly staff that are always ready to serve you. The bedroom though small is really cosy. The common toilets/bathrooms are really clean.

Staying here was a lonely affair. My girlfriend and I stopped for 6 nights, using it as a base to explore the surrounding areas of Kuching. In that time, we only saw the receptionist twice: when we checked in and checked out. The staff were strangely absent. I didn't see anyone except the receptionist. No one emptied the bins, or replaced the toilet roll, or did anything without us having to do it ourselves. To be fair, when we did see her, the receptionist was a lovely woman, who was kind enough to let us stay long after our checkout time was due - but she often went out on long errands and didn't come back for ages. (She'd leave a sign on the desk saying so.) So, there was no one there and no help when you needed it. During our time, only 2 different guests stayed. So we really were home alone most days. The walls are paper thin. You can hear the shower on 15 feet away and general chit-chat at the reception desk can wake you up in the room. And you don't get a cover for the bed. BUT the location is good; there are a few bars and eateries down Carpenter street, and it's next to the waterfront.
