Overall I've given 3 stars but it was a mixed experience.... Overall I really enjoyed our stay, but there were some negatives. I'd booked via Facebook messenger, or so I'd thought. I'd taken our messenger conversation to be a booking, but the person had not entered it into the system and so when we arrived we didn't have the modernised treehouse we'd wanted. So be aware, from here you would receive a booking confirmation by email. The did get us into a standard treehouse which obviously wasn't as smart as the modernised one, but was cheaper... The staff on reception tried to make up for the error, and gave us free drinks, let the kids order a la carte when we paid for the buffet. The treehouse - as in other reviews, the standard ones need modernising, or at least a lick of…
Pros: - beautiful beach/rainforest location - view from tree house to the sea is picturesque - air con in room - there are kayaks etc available if you want to pay for them - snacks and drinks available to purchase on site - food was simple but plentiful Cons: - no towels provided in rooms - rooms need a lot of TLC. They were satisfactory at best but had broken shower tiles, broken windows etc - restaurant needs a good clean, flies everywhere, spiders hanging from all over the ceiling, full of cobwebs. We stayed in other rainforest resorts and expect to be amongst the wildlife but there was no reason for it to be so bad. - no info pack in rooms - it would have been useful to have a little pack of times, activities etc. You are only given a paper map which if you arrive in the…
We arrived at Permai at 12 noon, but the room was not available until 2pm, so we had lunch at the cafe in the resort. My wife made use of the communal women's toilet and discovered that it was blocked; the bins were also overflowing with waste. There was also no soap/soap dispensers/paper towels, etc. It didn't make a great immediate impression. When we finally were allowed into the cabin at 2pm, we were pretty dismayed. The whole building was in urgent need of renovation. The wire frames in which the mosquito netting was fitted in the living room were rusted, flaking and dirty and the door itself was only opened with difficulty with a key as the lock was loose. I noticed that there was a sizable gap between the glass and the door frame through which insects, particularly…
Stayed here on the first 3 nights of my Borneo adventure. I was slightly concerned having read some earlier reviews. I didn’t need to be, stayed in TH3, which was clean and tidy, everything worked, and the balcony overlooked the sea. My tour company booked excursions for me. I did do the jungle walk which is quite steep and rough in places near the waterfall, look out for pit vipers! The food was OK but perhaps could have done with being kept a little warmer, the staff always friendly and efficient. You can hire various items like kayaks, and some games etc. This is not five star but represents excellent value.
My family & I had the privilege to stay in the Permai Rainforest resort tree houses. Absolutely beautiful. Sleeping in the treetops, the scents of nature & the sounds of the ocean. The rooms are clean & comfortable, keeping in mind, they are treehouses! Don’t expect 5 star, that’s not what the tree houses are claiming to be. The food options in the restaurant are basic but ok where all family members found something suitable on the menu. The do not sell alcohol but you can take your open with corkage fee. The little beaches are beautiful with crystal clear water. Highly recommend for those who enjoy nature.
