The team are absolutely amazing here. All are so friendly and so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. I stayed in the dorm which was the nicest dorm I have stayed in. Very clean, good showers and to a high standard. The pool and outside facilities are lovely and great for relaxing. The place itself is quite isolated, where you need transport or a tour to explore the surrounding areas of interest. They do have a tour booking service which I did with my friend that was really good! In terms of eating and drinking there are a few little kiosks in the area but you will be buying drinks and meals at the hotel, they are OK and a little overpriced but understandable given the remote location. The homemade breakfasts are great, the pancakes especially tasty. The hospitality is unmatched! Would definitely come again

This place is exactly like the photos, if not even better! A little haven of peace and tranquility. Food is cooked fresh to order and is super tasty. Lin and staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. All staff have impeccable English and are more than happy to help with any queries. Could not have been happier with my decision to come here after Bako NP for some much needed rest! Really appreciate the dorm option so backpackers can experience abit of luxury at a reasonable price aswell. Comfy beds, great aircon and fabulous shower/bathroom

Breakfast and dinner was good but the same everyday. The quantity was large enough to make you feel more than full but Rooms were small and no study table and chair. No kettle to boil water and no television. The coffee served was below par and no taste

Our recent stay at the Village House left much to be desired. While the property boasted style and charm, it sorely lacked substance. Despite its hefty price tag, the overall experience fell wellshort of expectations.
The first impression was promising. The swimming pool and surrounding grounds were undeniably beautiful, offering a serene escape. However, this moment of satisfaction quickly gave way to disappointment upon entering the room. The musty odor and noticeable mold were immediate red flags, indicating subpar cleanliness standards. Despite the hotel's claim of being cleaned twice daily, the reality fell short of expectations.
The food was nothing short of atrocious, failing to deliver on even the most basic expectations. It was evident that little care or attention was given to the quality of the meals served.
While Mr. 'Handsome' stood out for his friendly demeanour and genuine hospitality, the remainder of the staff lacked competence.
Considering the exorbitant price tag for Borneo, one would expect a level of excellence that simply was not delivered. In our opinion, this hotel should be priced at most at $25 a night.
Our decision to book this hotel as a last-minute alternative to Bako National Park was regrettable. It failed to offer the respite and comfort we had been seeking. We stayed across 10 hotels during our 3 weeks in Malaysia and this hotel is the sole recipient of less than a 4-star rating. . I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. Choose wisely and avoid disappointment by staying elsewhere.

hotel a little out of the way, narrow domain enclosed between 4 fence walls magnificent infinity pool; modest sized room we had booked dinner, but given the menu, we preferred to dine by the sea in a seafood restaurant we agreed on breakfast at 6:30 a.m. for a 7 a.m. departure: the waiter arrived at 7 a.m. and just offered us a coffee!!!

Simply fabulous! The staff is very friendly, it is clean, quiet and the food is delicious! The pool is great and I always found a spot to relax or do yoga. Special requests for food were always taken into account and transport to activities was easy and inexpensive. I would definitely go back!!!

Lovely, quiet respite, tucked below Mt. Santubong. Room comes with breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is strangely limited with no fresh fruit or juice. Dinner was ok, not great. Can order ala carte at limited times during the day, or take a bike to one of the local restaurants within a km or 2. The room was lovely, well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The pool was lovely too and the grounds are also lovely. I'd recommend it for a stay, but bring snacks.

I had booked a bunk bed in a dormitory, but despite that, when I arrived, I was greeted very warmly, with a complimentary drink, and the manager discussed with me. The hotel is very nice, with a long swimming pool (very clean) and plants everywhere that give the inner court the aspect of a garden, which I found very beautiful. I was a bit anxious about sleeping in a dorm before arriving because I had not done that in a long time and I recall having had problems sleeping because of noisy guests (in Europe), but it was very calm. The hotel even provides transportation locally, which is extremely precious because it is nearly impossible to get a taxi to move for short distances (3-8 km) to reach the trailheads or other touristic attractions locally. The restaurant is good too (good quality/price ratio) and very convenient. The hotel is located within walking distance of Wallace point, where the famous British naturalist Alfred Russell Wallace lived several years in the mid-19th century.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Village House! The beds were so comfortable, the room was really clean, the staff were so nice, and the pool was wonderful. We had a wonderful time spending our evenings relaxing by the pool and the staff at the Village House helped arrange rides for us wherever we needed to go. The driver they work with is very informative and friendly. I would absolutely stay here again and I encourage you to stay here as well!

Hi there! We found the food prices to be reasonable and the dishes were very tasty. Unfortunately, I just cannot recall the exact price!
I should say the price is reasonable for a Westerner, so you will not find a “cheap” option (meaning under $5). If I had to guess, dinners were around $10 US..but it is a guess.
If you do stay here, you will want to eat here as well, as you will be in your own little world and a bit far from other options.
Yes, I recall several vegetarian options on the menu.
There are more places to choose from in the Kuching area.
