To write this review I will respond using the points made in another travelers recent reviews. This is a locally owned hotel and very close to LRT.

1. Hotel has non functioning wifi. -- Yes, it does. The lobby has the best reception. In my room it was hit or miss, but most of the time I had no trouble logging into email and FB.

2. Hotel has lousy selection of food. The food is forced upon all patrons. -- How is food forced on people? There is a restaurant, but you can take a 3-minute walk to the mall for local restaurants, starbucks and subway. Breakfast is free and it is adequate: toast, eggs, potatoes, fruit and 100% juice, etc.

3. Ants infestation and cockroaches crawling in the room.-- Yes, there are a few small, non-biting ants. If you are any kind of traveler at all you know ants are always present in tropical locations. Not a big deal. No cockroaches. If you leave food out in a tropical climate, cockroaches of course will arrive. I always place my food garbage in the fridge.

4. Overpriced rates. -- My company paid for the room.

5. No bellboy. -- Not true. I arrived at 5 am and a bell boy carried my very heavy suitcase and I did not have to tip.

6. Swimming pool doesn't seem to be in functioning condition. -- Not true. The swimming pool is the best part of the hotel and is large and beautiful.

7. No visible dustbin in the hotel. -- Not true. The dustbin is in your room and the size of a large ice bucket. The maid empties it every day.

9. Dirty rooms, hotel attendant didn't clear up the room properly when we came in. -- Not true. The room was plenty clean. The walls do have some dirt.

10. There are bedbugs! -- Not true. The building is antiquated, but the sofa, mattress and pillows were new. No bedbugs.

11. The staffs were extremely rude & impolite. -- Not true. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

12. The carpet is old. -- Yes, but the floor of the rooms is wood and not carpet.

13. No hot water. -- Not true. I had plenty of hot water.

*Rooms have a balcony and are spacious. This is not a romantic getaway place, just a place to spend the night or relax by the pool.

I am a risk taker. I usually check out reviews and eventually go with my gut feeling. This time, my gut was wrong! (Note that I am a cheap date. Easily pleased. Not this time!)

Check in was a breeze. The reception ladies were pleasant. I had no complaints. They directed us to the room. Things changed when we arrived the walkway and entrance to our rooms.

General Area
===========
DIRT and DUST (perhaps from a year over) were all over the floor in front of our rooms. I looked for a broom (which was easy to find) and I swept the floor at the entrance of our rooms. Yes. I'm sure some of the guest thought I was housekeeping. (for the record, the broom was still where I left it, with the dirt, when we checked out the next day!)

In the room
=========
Shocking. The toilet had rust stains. The bath tub had rust stains. One of the shower faucets were not even there. There was an opening on the top of the wall where a window should have been. Hot air from the kitchen below came right in.

Cups and saucers were not washed properly. Had coffee stains from who knows when!

Drapes had huge watermark stains. Not pleasant at all!

Bed was alright; comfortable. I dared to sleep on it.

Breakfast
=======
Thank goodness the breakfast was alright. Delicious nasi lemak and mee mamak. Nice hot coffee.

Overall
======
I WILL NEVER STAY HERE EVER AGAIN.

ps: for all risk takers like me, please don't risk it with this one.

In serious need of refurbishment and upgrade.

Good location, close to main highway, 5 min walk to LRT (train) station which will take you to KualaLumpur city centre in approx 20 mins.
Reasonable rate with 50% off via Agoda, without discount would have cost too much for this standard.
Nice pool.
Didn't have meals here as food places were easily accessible.
Free car park.

We were a walk in customer, and decided to stay near this damned place as it was near to my partners family home. From the exterior, it looks welcoming. I asked the male receptionist if I could have a look at the room before I commit to staying, he said it was late and not possible. He said the rooms are refurbished every twice a year.

We checked in and was given room 311. The signs to the room wasn't clear, the walkway to room 311 at 2am felt like we were part of a horror movie, lights were dim, smells musky. We finally got to our huge room, everything in the room is dated, except for the air conditioner. Thinking that it was the newest thing, the room will be cool, we were so wrong. The aircond was not functioning well, but we were too tired to make a complain.

The curtains were so thin, we were awake at the break of dawn with the light coming through. We were not satisfied! We complained to the front desk and the maintenance guy checked the a/c and we were told to leave our keys so that he could add gas into the unit.

I called up the management and told them that I'm not satisfied with their quality of rooms. We were paying RM250 a night and this rooms don't even come close to a hotel! We spoke to Johari and told him we wanted a refund or what he could do for us. He called back and said he could upgrade us to a 'suite'. The suite was also dated, but at least the curtains were thicker, the a/c was older was worked better than the new ones. There were left over toiletries on the toilet window, I assume from the previous occupants. The bidet in the toilet needs to be cleaned (gross)

Breakfast was crappy...didn't bother going down for breakfast on the last day.

Overall a horrible experience, and I don't think the management really give a damn if there are bad reviews all over their tripadvisor page.

Please avoid this place like a plague.

The Shah Village Hotel is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever been unfortunate enough to stay in. I booked the hotel in advance via their website and paid a holding deposit. When I arrived at the hotel the reception staff had no record of my booking and tried to charge me a different rate to the one secured under my booking. Fortunately I had printed off my confirmation to take with me. After resolving this issue, I tried to pay by credit card, but the receptionist, Priscilla, told me that my card had been declined, so I tried it for a second time. Again, I was told the card had been declined. In the end we were told we would have to pay cash for the room, which we begrudgingly did. When we went up to our room it was filthy. The room had not been cleaned since the last guests had stayed; the bed was dirty and unmade, the teacups still had tea in them and the shower had hair in it. They gave us a new room which was clean enough, but still not ideal. Halfway through the night the fridge started making an incredibly loud buzzing sound, we had to complain to reception at half past 4 in the morning. We stayed the remaining 2 nights and checked out. A couple of days later I checked my credit card bill - I had been charged twice on my card as well as the cash we paid. It was impossible to get any sense out of the reception staff. We finally got hold of the hotel accountant who told us that they did not have the ability to refund credit cards, and that he would have to give me a local cheque. As a UK resident I obviously do not have a local account.. In the end we agreed the hotel would withdraw cash and give to one of our family members who fortunately lives in KL. As an international visitor this is completely unacceptable practice. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. Cleanliness, value for money, and most of all, service, were all well below what I would expect of the most budget of hotels. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I stayed here with a group of students from the U.S. on a study abroad program. We read the reviews about bedbugs the day before we checked in and started freaking out. After the first night, we didn't notice much, we thought we were in the clear. After the second night, we noticed one of the students had about 15 bug bites all over her, in clusters of 3. Also some (but not all) of the rooms smelled like overripe raspberries, a key sign of bedbug infestation. When we approached the front desk, all I had to say was "bed bugs..." and without blinking an eye they immediately gave us new rooms, which made it even MORE obvious they were aware they had an issue with bedbugs. The hotel isn't in great shape to begin with, and they have no elevator... seriously, don't stay. Pay extra and go somewhere else.

My friends and I stayed in the Shah Village Hotel in Jun 08 and was doubled charged via credit card payment by the receptionist upon checking in and on the upon checking out. When challenged, the staff claimed that the charge during checking in serves as a deposit and they would cancel the claim. However when I received my credit card bills later, they never reimbursed this deposit. I have called the hotel and brought up this matter to their staff. Till date, I have yet to receive the deposit. The staff are not helpful in helping to resolve the matter at all. It's a place to cheat tourists from other countries of their money. Do not go!!!!!
