The Dorsett has the potential to be a top tier hotel. But, it is not at that level yet.

We stayed four nights (Feb 6-10, 2020) and had two rooms with a connecting door on the 13th floor.

The good aspects include 1) nicely priced, 2) nice, airy rooms with plenty of space, 3) comfortable and elongated pillows, 4) strong air con, 5) quiet surroundings, 6) very spacious lobby area, 7) amply parking.

The "needs improvement" category: 1) found a dead cockroach on our first evening there, 2) the foot stool/foot rest of the single seater couch had two stains (one white & one black), 3) the electrical socket in the bathroom was inoperable as it was not producing any electrical "juice" to charge my shaver. I wrote these three deficiencies on a note and gave it to the front desk associate (a young chap) the following morning (Feb 7, 2020); sadly, the issues were never resolved nor did any hotel management contacted us during our entire 4-night stay.

From a safety perspective, there was a square depression (~6 x 6 inches and about 1 inch deep at its lowest) in the hallway of the 13th floor that was covered by the carpeting. If one were not careful and did not know where the "divot" was, he/she could have easily twisted an ankle by stepping into it.

I am aware that this review from me is fashionably late, my sincere apologies.
So my family and I stayed here at Dorsett Grand Subang last September during my wedding weekend, and the entire team here made it so special and memorable for us all!

Booked Dorsett Room – upgraded to deluxe room

Booked Executive Suite – upgraded to Premier Suite (as they came to know that I will be celebrating my treasured moment here at Dorsett)

And accorded another night in the Executive Suite (due to an unfortunate incident)

To start off with, let me just share the unfortunate event that happened. The night before my solemnization ceremony, the bellboy assisted me from the lobby to bring up my finalized 'dulang' aka trays of hantaran up to my room using the trolley. Soon after, he came up to the room to apologize to me. How unfortunate, my hantaran trays had tumbled. The fresh flowers were a mess and one of the glass box broke. I was shocked and really upset as the solemnization ceremony was going to be in less than 8 hours. I went down to the lobby and informed the supervisor at the reception. As it was past midnight, the manager on duty wasn’t around however one of the staff came over to my room to give a hand in fixing my then ruined hantaran trays. Early the next morning, Ms. Isha, the manager came to offer help and went out of her way to find a solution in fixing the dulang hantaran in such a short period of time! (Just in time for my nikah/solemnization ceremony) Phew. Such a relieved! Thank you Ms. Isha for your effort and quick action.

After such a long day (the solemnization ceremony), me and my husband were blown away by the grand style and décor in the Premier Suite. With comfortable huge bed plus that amazing lake view through the large window. The suite had a living and dining area too. They also had my room (as newly weds) specially decorated with flower bouquet, rose petals and swan-shaped towels. Small gesture that really made our day and we felt so welcomed! The following night after our reception, we stayed in the Executive Suite and I must say that the room was one of the best I’ve experienced in Kuala Lumpur! Utterly gorgeous suite with modern touches!

Rooms and ambience alone can only create a great impression, and it is Dorsett Grand Subang’s level of service that takes the experience of staying there to the next level! A huge thank you to the team, especially dear Ms. Isha and Ms. Malar. I had issues during my last visit, but you and your team counteract and improved all of em. Your care made everything felt so seamless and we were able to relax and really enjoy ourselves the entire wedding weekend.

I’d go back and stay in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend! Once the RMO is over that is. (;

When we arrived, there was already a long line waiting to check-in. Waited for 1 hour before our turn. Try standing for 1 hour and tell me about it.

The Deluxe Room was okay but definitely dated. Stains found on the sofa, and the bed frame cover. The room probably not vacuumed enough and the glass table with dust. Room service must have been in a haste to get rooms cleaned for the next guests. Even the towels were missing. We had to go down to the reception to ask for it because the in-room phone was faulty.

The room was obviously overfitted with fittings making the room less spacious. And I hate the bed. This is the 1st time my back ached sleeping in a hotel bed.

Breakfast buffet was very disappointing. They only served guests with what we termed as nasi lemak kosong, mee hoon goreng, slices of bread with butter and kaya as spreads, porridge, juices and coffee. NO chicken, beef, sausages or at least fried eggs provided.

Some hotels, you would stay until the last minute before checking out but not this hotel. We just couldn't wait to get out.

Sorry Grand Dorsett. You are just a three star hotel pretending to be 5 stars.

Booked for hotel quarantine and currently still in property. I encourage people to look elsewhere for hotel quarantine packages. Despite courteous and professional service from fnb manager Azlan and duty manager Pandora, our experience here as been tainted by the following:
1. Check in
1.1 arrived via transport as part of package but had to wait in the vehicle with no instructions on how to check in. Driver dropped us in the basement and we were just told to wait by the lifts in a basement with our bags and had no clue what was going on. 15 mins later staff member appears via lifts to 'check us in'
1.2 staff member checking us in took photos of our passport with, most likely, their personal mobile device. Understand passports are required by hotel but a personal device should not be used to take or store this information.
2. Cleanliness
2.1 upon check in, we noticed most of common touch points i.e plugs and switches were covered in dust and dirt which we had to clean ourselves
2.2 scraps of food and rubbish still evident under bed, couches and tables. Given covid situation, we had to ask for a vacuum to clean this up ourselves on the first night. Hotel obliged but even vacuum was falling apart held together by duct tape
2.3 stains on bed sheets. No offer to replace
3. Condition of hotel room
3.1 evidence of mould heavy mould in bathrooms, on carpets and wallpaper
3.2 peeling wallpaper
3.3 informed hotel of matters above and was offered a different room but that room had a pungent cigarette smell hence declined and decided to put up with mould infested room instead (not sure which is worse when dealing with a history of asthma)
3.4 water is now dripping through window and ceiling. Informed reception but they mention that due to heavy rain, there is nothing they can do. Offered towels to wipe down area that is being soaked.
There are matters above that may require long term actions to rectify, but it does not justify making guests pay for such an experience.
Given the hotel advertises itself as a premium hotel package and we booked a deluxe room, this is a shock. No one should have to go through this experience.
Ms.Christina Toh if you are reading this I hope action will be taken to ensure these issues are rectified should the hotel intend to be viable as a business moving forward.

We stayed at the Dorsett in its guise as a quarantine centre, so please take my comments as in relation to that and not as a general statement on it as a hotel.
The check in procedure as a “premium quarantine centre” was very good. We had some problems with our rooms - the first one was infested with little insects and the second one didn’t have any air con. I think the problem with the first was that it hadn’t been properly decontaminated after the previous occupant had left (there was a spillage in the fridge as well) and I think this is a concern given the current pandemic but also in someways understandable because the rooms were occupied without housekeeping for 14 days at a stretch.
Our problems with the rooms turned out to be a blessing in disguise because on asking we discovered that we could have a suite of rooms for only an additional 100MR a night! This made all the difference. We moved to a 5 room suite (bedroom, living room, office / dining room, dressing room, bathroom and additional toilet). If there is more than one of you or you just can’t face a week in one room I highly recommend that you request the upgrade.
Despite the issues with the rooms, we found the staff on the whole to be really helpful and understanding. Food was delivered 4 times a day (breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner). The food was very good considering it was mass produced and delivered boxed up. We had some issues with it being delivered cold - at least once a day this was the case. We ordered an outside delivery once and this was also delivered stone cold and an hour after we saw it being delivered! But on the whole the food was good and there was way too much for us to ever really eat. There was an option of ordering room service too if you want something additional.
No one likes quarantine but this hotel makes the best of a bad lot and once we moved up to our suite, it became much less of a chore than it might have been.

I have stayed in this hotel for almost 20 times, a couple of day each times. This latest stay, I have some issues.

First, I left the room at 10.30am to work, press the "Make Up Room" button and when I came back at 7.30pm, the room is still not made up and the rubbish is not cleared. Went to front desk to feedback but saw lots of people waiting to check-in. So, I just let it go.

Secondly, they place racks of mineral water on the corridor (see picture). It was there for the whole 3D2N I was there.

This is NOT a 1 or 2 star hotel. At the rate you're paying, you don't expect to see these type of services.

I love this hotel due to its location and very quiet surrounding but they need to buckle up or I will just walk away to another hotel.

Any quarantine experience is less than fun. I booked a "Premium Hotel Package" because I wanted to be comfortable and pass the time quickly.
The Dorsett Grand failed me on several counts. The first suite they gave me was a huge dissappointment, in the older wing of the hotel. Peeling paint, dirty carpets, and no hot water. The next evening they moved me to a much nicer suite. The water worked and in general much better, although also stained carpets, and a malfunctioning air conditioning system.
The food was truly horrible. The first "breakfast" was a plastic tub of cold spaggetti! Insulting.
The communication with the management is via WhatsApp (they don't take calls). It took two days to get a reply from a manager in regards to getting some slippers that fit a size 12 US size. After two days I was brought some rubber flip flops. I asked for hotel slippers, no reply to my follow ups.

The hotel manager "CK Tan" assured me that their "medical team" was on the task ad would have my covid test results by 0930 on the last day, and that I can be sure it would happen. Needless to say it did not happen and I missed my flights. CK Tan then refused to answer WhatsApp, and did not return several calls.

The room is nice, but the service is just not up to any standard that one would expect given the 450+ RM per day price. Shameful

1. Most of the staff are not friendly nor helpful! With no smile on their face, and won't utter more words than just yes or no. Not even bother to look up at the guests!
2. NO shuttle service although website stated otherwise!
Booked this hotel as the website stated shuttle bus service was provided to nearby malls as we do not have our own transportation there, and not familiar with the place. However, when asked for shuttle bus service, the staff at reception (a man with a face like I owed him billions dollar) just said "Don't have". When I continue to ask that the website stated differently, he just said "no more, you call grab la!" Ok, fine. So I was with my mum and 2 young kids, started calling grab/taxi but for more than 40mins, no taxi/grab is willing to pick up from this location! Luckily the staff (the only friendly staff during my stay) saw us wandering helplessly at the lobby area, offered to help us book a grab after knowing our situation. We finally manage to get a cab about 1 hour later (the ride to the location was only 10 or 15 mins).
3. The pool, a very small one, with no shade, is at a weird location, whereby guests have to walk pass the check in lobby, lounge and restaurants, and even go down a level to reach. There was no lifeguard, and actually nobody (not even 1 guest) around when we check out the pool too.
4. The room was supposed to be 26hours stay with early check in option (need to flll in a form at least 3 days prior to arrival), I followed the instructions and request at least 10 days before, and supposed to get a reply in 3 days time, but there was no reply at all, and I have to make a call to check. Even so, they cannot answer whether I can get to check in earlier.
5. We found out that the parking is limited, at outdoor location (with no shelter to the hotel), and is to pay per entry from other guest too!
Conclusion: a big NO to this hotel!

I booked an executive suite based on the description from the Quarantine leaflet “Luxury 5 Star Hotel, New luxurious and aesthetically furnished suite!!”
This is what my nightmare 14 day quarantine experience was really like nothing like the misleading leaflet.
1. Arrived in the room it was damp and very musty smell triggered my allergy straight away.
2. Dirty room not been vacuumed and dusty, bits all over the carpet.
3. Black damp mould on walls under windows
4. The room was full of tiny ants they were all over you couldn’t leave any food out.
5. Had 2 Cockroachs in the room one a very big one about 5cm.
6. Room 966 I slept in the bed 1st night and was eaten alive by bugs in the bed all over my body was full of tiny bites.
7. The hotel SOP asks guests to leave their empty food waste outside the room within 2 hrs for disposal iaw goverment regulations, however there was at least 2 days of rubbish left outside the room over 6 bags for 2 people x 3 meals. No wonder ants were all over.
8. We ordered the optional extra western and Japanese menu and never received anything just local menu consisting mainly of rice, noodle, fish and chicken. The quality of the food was shocking poor one desert was an attempt at a possible panna cotta or cream brulee it was just runny slop not set unedited. And for breakfast the apple provided was beyond rotten just brown mush how on earth staff could put this in the pack up.
9. Aircon leaking lots of water out of the overhead ducts all over the carpet and our suitcases, all staff did vacuumed out the water. Maybe the route cause should be repaired.
10. Then to make stay unforgettable day 7 at 11pm water started flooding out of the ceiling light from the room above. The front desk sent a repair team they did nothing had a quick look and said its a big job we can only repair when you check out. By then the water had stopped however, the following morning the room above flushed their toilet then the contents came through out ceiling again then again 10 mins later it was actually urine and flooded all over the bathroom floor. We called the front desk to send the manager to look and nobody came just swapped room to the 17th floor.
Some photos attached to show the luxury 5 star suite room (not).
We couldn’t wait to leave and on check out it summed it up for the gentleman on reception to be wearing a blue polo shirt full of stains which looked like yellow curry all down the front of his shirt. Just shows the standard of this hotel very poor all round at best a 2 star hotel its very tired decor in the rooms, damp and musty . I won’t be returning

Stayed for 5 nights in deluxe room with inclusions of minibar but never get until the last moment upon check out and complained again with the reception. The room is old, the curtain is not cleaned, the bathroom and toilet full of black and yellowish stain at the grouting and most disgusting part is the telephone, it seems has been ages for not being cleaned and sanitised whilst different occupants were using it. You can even smell the odour when you get close to the side table with telephone. The linen is old and not fresh. Staff is sharing the elevator with the guests and even we have two went in the elevator, the bell staff still push the big luggage trolley to share the same elevator instead of waiting another one. Same goes to housekeeping and maintenance staff. It is comfortable for us to share especially during Covid season and the staff projected unfavourable body odours well. Great breakfast variety at the buffet Overall, not recommended and won’t return.
