This is a budget hotel that is centrally located. The downside is the limited and challenging parking. Lots of food in the surrounding areas. The hotel looks relatively new and clean. Unlikely to return as there are better hotels around

We arrived at 2 am and tired, and the front desk of Ming Star informed us the hotel is fully book. Fortunately they have a sister hotel at the opposite end of the same building which is very new.

We checked in into a family room (Superior Plus) with RM178 nett rate. But I bargained and got RM20 off since we arrived very late. Their key touch key where u just tap at the panel at the entrance. The room still smells of the new floor and cupboard. But not the paints. Which is ok. Somehow we get a room without a view (not very good for me as I am quite claustrophobic) but it was 2 am and we r only staying a nite so it was ok.

The room is very basic, 1 king and 1 twin bed with all white sheets and duvets. Side tables, writing table where they put the tea making facility at the end, big mirror and big LCD TV with selected satelite channels. The space is small since they try to fit all the beds. At the end of the room is the standing shower and bathroom (separated by a glass panel). The door is push type door probably because of the limited surface they have. Only 2 soap is given not other toiletries. But they provide clean towels

Everything is clean and working which I hope they keep it up. The breakfast is served at Ming Star. The food was really dull actually and almost finished even at 10 am (1030am is closing time). We could not even order anything until lunch. They had steam coconut milk rice (nasi lemak), spicy sauce (sambal)., peanut and fried enchovies, white bread with choice of jam and butter, coffee and tea and a type of juice. The restaurant beside the hotel wasn't open yet (11 am normally if the restaurant open till nite)

Free wifi in the room and they have a computer in front of the reception to use for free. The hotel is a good place to crash for 1-2 nites, no frills, clean place.

Executive Room is spacious. Staffs very accommodative, friendly & responsive. Tiptop service. Self-service laundries nearby. Many nearby food outlets, batik shops. Cons: ATM/CDM machines are far away.

We stayed in a Superior Deluxe room for a couple of nights. The room was spacious, new and clean, with all the amenities available. The hotel is centrally located, a 15-20 min walk from the market and the jetty.
The biggest pros are their spa, with a fantastic jacuzzi room and different massage treatments available (very relaxing!) and the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful.
The downside is the breakfast: Very basic and very few options available.
Overall, a very nice experience for the price we were paying.

My family and I went here for holiday and we paid for only 200++ for a room consists of 2 double big beds and 2 single beds. They also provided 2 toilets and enough towels for all of us to use. There were also extra 2 pillows. There was also no problem for carpark. The carpark is very big eventhough it is dark and quiet there but still it's safe. The beach is very near to the hotel. I really recommended this hotel if you guys are gonna have a family day or any events.

I stayed for three consecutive nights, and I am quite satisfied with the overall quality of this hotel. The best part about it is of course, the bed. Most fluffy comforter/blanket I have ever felt in a hotel, with nice soft beds and pillow. I have the most comfortable sleep I ever had in a hotel. The staffs are friendly and there is a large parking space with security behind the hotel - entrance to the carpark is next to Mingstar Hotel which is at the end of the building.

Because of my unfixed schedule I had to check-out and check-in everyday, so I had the chance to try both Standard and Superior room (King size bed). Both room are basically the same, almost the same size, same type of fluffy comforter and bed, closet, both has all the extras - hot iron with the ironing board, hot water electric kettle, tea and coffee packs with two bottled water, praying mats, same desks and chair, same bed, satellite channel. The only differences are there's a better and bigger LCD TV and a window at the superior room (32" LCD at Superior and 21" Cheap LCD at standard room).

The bathroom is very nice, water pressure is strong, with centralized hot water system, and a nicely designed shower room.

There is free wifi, but it is slow and probably the only downside to this hotel.

Breakfast is included in the package but it is served at the Mingstar hotel restaurant. There is not much selection but the food are pretty good and quite tasty.

There are a few restaurants around the hotel, the best would be Uncle Chua Signature restaurant downstairs, just next door that serves cheap but very good quality food. There's also Secret Recipe and a few food stalls. Remember to avoid the food stall right across from the road in front of the hotel, we made a mistake by going there the first night... too expensive for food of that quality and service. There's also a 7-11 just across the road and a grocery store next to Uncle Chua.

I haven't had the chance to try the spa on the third floor - it did not operate at night, too bad since it was the only time we were back at the hotel, in need of relaxation after a whole day of working. My colleague did try the full body massage and they say it was pretty good.

I would definitely choose this hotel again if I ever went back to Kuala Terengganu.

Stayed in a room on 3rd floor close to fire excape door... Complained to the staff about smoke smell in the room... All they did was spray air freshner.. On and off smoke smell came back... Suffocating.. The fact that guest could smoke inside the building means that their smoke detector is not functioning which is rather dangerous.. I suspect ppl are smoking at the fire escape stairs as cig buds found at the dustbin... Rooms are small with no window.. There's an astro book with no astro chanel at all.. I find this very wierd

The purpose was having a good rest after a long drive before leaving for Pulau Redang the next day. We had it book after searching and review from tripadvisor. I didn't have high expectation but looking at the hotel room's picture from the web, checking the price and I called the hotel directly. After checking with the location, the distance to Shah Bandar Jetty and special request for a quite room. I booked it immediately.
By the time we reach the hotel and enter to the room, we were very satisfied with it. A family suite with 2 double beds and 2 single beds. The room with 2 bath rooms attached. I would say it is worth it with the price that I pay. We had a good sleep throughout the night. The location is convenient as well. But one little problem I face in the room was the cup was full of yellow stain.....every cup have it. I try to clean in but it was hard stain and I believe the house keeping never clean it properly. I hope the management will look into this matter.

Do not rely on the Google Map location if you plan to walk from the bus. The hotel is about 1 km further along the road. Hotel staff have been alerted but are not interested in fixing this?

Overall the hotel is fine with small but fully appointed rooms. Although on a noisy road the windows have wooden shutters which block most of the noise.

The hotel is located about fifteen minutes walk from the centre of town. There are some eateries andva covenience store nearby.
