Location wise, it is a little far from many places. Nearest beach is 20 minutes walk away, and nothing to shout about. Better beaches or diving spots would require a boat ride which is not always readily available and costly. Upon arrival, pick up from jetty cost rm10 per person. And it is not really optional because it is 3km away. Check in was a breeze and managed to get an early check in for a good rest. The room has ants roaming around and some gets on your bed. If you are not all squimish about bugs, i just kill them and sleep. Didnt try the food here as the buffet seem really plain and not cheap. Drinking Water is provided in the lobby but limited amount as it always runs out. Aircond is cool enough and the room has hot water for shower. Environment is good but definitely much to improve on. No alcohol anywhere nearby but there is a stall right outside the hotel which makes good milkshakes and coconut and teatime food. Not a good place if you want to be near the beach. But an ok place if you like nature and want both beach and nature.

Room is not spacious or clean (hairs in blanket). Bathroom is a toilet cabin with shower not 3 square meters. However, it is 15min walking distance from quiet beach with turtles! Restaurant is cheap and good quality. Staff was lovely helping me with my broken phone dropped in sea water. Snorkeling day or half day trips.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel this past week. The hotel staff was very friendly. The bedroom itself is good with comfy bed, pillow, good ac and spacious, but bathroom is small with a tiny tiny sink and no shower area, so you basically shower between the toilet and the sink and leave the whole place wet. Also, there was no sheet only blanket and towels were dark brown (I personally do not like to use hotel towels that are not clear enough to see how clean they are)

Despite the good reviews below, we didn't like the food at the hotel restaurant. We've been few days already in Malaysia and this was the least tasteful food we had. It is eadible, but can't say it's good. However, it is not a major issue because if you walk 50 m to the right, you get to Aima Grill which serves really tasty food!!!!

The hotel is located far from the busy area... There's nothing going on around it at night, just the restaurant I mentioned. So if you want to have a drink, walk around, etc at night, keep in mind you won't get it here. Also, if you want to go to other areas in the island not in a snorkeling tour, be ready for the rip off. The hotel told us a taxi boat to Long Beach was 200 ringgit, absolutely outrageous!!! We were frustated because we were stuck in this part of the island where there's nothing going on and had to pay more money to move around than to sleep... What upset us the most though, was that we asked the tour guy next door how much he would charge us and he said 150 prior to any negotiation. We left thinking the hotel wanted to rip us off with commission instead of helping us to find a discount to improve our experience... Sad....

The hotel is located 15 min walk from Teluk Dalam Beach which is absolutely stunning! One of the most beautiful beaches I've seen! But keep in mind this is almost a desert beach: you'll only see couple of more people around and a tent selling water and coconut and another one renting snorkel. Besides that, there's not much going on, so don't count it as a place you'd like to go everyday of your vacation as you may get bored. but is it more than worth a visit for one day! We saw many turtles just swimming 50-70 meters from the shore... Amazing experience!

Overall, I'd recommend this hotel only in this specific situation:
(A) it is cheaper than other places
(B) you don't mind don't having anything to do at night other than having a meal at the quiet restaurant close to it
(C) you're only staying in Redang for 2 days - 1 to visit Teluk Dalam and 1 to go on a snorkeling tour. Other than that, the amount you save on accommodation you may just have to disburse to get around...

Final advice: do not miss Teluk Dalam on a sunning day (go when sun is high, like noon or so) regardless of where you're staying and how much you have to pay to get there... Stay at the beach, not just look at it from a snorkeling boat. The experience is very different!

Very nice staff, informative and helpful.
Room very dirty, with dirty bed sheets and blankets , one dirty towel, floor not cleaned, gecko poo on wall.
Very basic room with little equipment. We booked a quadruple room and had only 3 towels. Shampoo and shower soap not provided, no kettle, shower on top of the toilets , no locking of the room from the inside.
Location quite far away from main activities, all transports are expensive and not always available in the evening.
Transport arranged by the hotel is quite expensive, e.g from airport to jetty was 50RM per person in group shared vehicle while grab is 52RM for entire car.
Additional 3% charge for paying by card

We came here to have our final dinner of a family trip. We came at 7.45pm and only get some of our orders at 9.30pm. Some dish came while some did not and we saw other customers got serve in between our servings. Worst of all, when we showed dissatisfaction they did not even look or seemed sorry at all. Ended up 3 of us did not have our dinner as we got fed up waiting by 10pm

We were quite disappointed with our stay at DeRimba. The rooms (bungalows) are indeed new and well maintained, but they provide only some old towels (no soap, no toilet paper in the room, everything only on request). The surroundings are also very raw, with little greenery. It looks like a construction work site. The staff was a bit passive and we had a big bill mess at the end of our stay. We chose this place because of the beach nearby, close to Taaras resort. But this beach was disappointing too: trash, boats full of tourists chasing turtles and, yes it's true, floating human excrement. Very ugly! We would recommend to rather stay at Mutiara / Wisana beach. These are the best on the island!

I write this review after a week stayed at this place as I like to cool myself down and see if I am still upset. Part of me is still slightly upset but I had let go and moved on. Firstly, I am a local Malaysian and even a local from Kuala Terengganu. I am not pointing this as to be treated as special and I believed everyone should be treated equally but it felt more sad to know that as a local I can feel so upset with this place.

I stayed on 14-16 September. On 16th September (Monday) was a Public Holiday. I had make bookings roughly about 2-3 weeks earlier. Now I have been charged extra RM40 per pax as they had pointed out it was a public holiday. My friend, who coincidentally wanted to go to redang 1 week earlier had paid “weekend” rate despite 7th September (Saturday) was a public holiday but was not charges extra RM40 for public holiday. And when pointed out, they claimed it was not a public holiday on the 7th. And I had recommended them to my friend! They even say that their boss said it wasn’t a Public Holiday. The way I see it, they had used their boss’s name to give reasons.

Additionally, I bought package including the ferry. Now on the 12th, I was told to be at the Jetty at 9.30am as the boat will leave at 10.30am. I had arrived earlier at 9am to be safe. We had to wait until 12.30pm when our boat arrive. We only reached at 3pm which literally half day was gone. And I choose the boat to leave on 16th September on Monday at 7am as I had to drive back to KL and the next boat is at 1pm which I find its too late for me. So technically, I had stayed more or less 2 days 2 nights despite paying for 3days 2 night. When I brought this up, the staff say it wasnt their problem and the it was the ferry fault. Since I bought the package and not separately, at least I was hoping they had some decency to report to the people in charge or just apologise. Not that hard to do, but they pointed finger as if they had nothing to do with it. Also they say that their boss say that it wasn’t their problem. Easy. Just use “boss” say as an excuse

The place, is quiet at night and very chilled. The environment and the view of the hills was lovely. The public beach was absolutely amazing but 30 mins walk. You could walk into Taaras, about 10 minutes and their beach is beautiful as well.

As many said it, you do have to walk up if you are given the most top. I stayed in row D which is the highest. I dont mind the steps. The room was clean but it could have been better. The water from the hot shower is so slow/little as the there is little water pressure. The water heater they had use has no pump, it would have been helpful with the pressure. The wardrobe and the dressing table is old and fragile, almost seems like it can broke at any seconds.

As a local, I find the food as bareable. No choice but to swallow it as it had came together with the package. For dinner’s, everything was so salty!

I truly believe they could improve more on their customer service, better maintenance of the place and in hope they get better with the foods. I am not asking for a special treatment but at least “We’re sorry, its beyond our control” would have been suffice instead of “Its not our problem” as a reply.

I will definitely come back to Redang, sadly not to De’rimba. I will not recommend this place to my friends and family as well.

Hope they can improve.

p/s : They have a beautiful mural which looks beautiful in pictures.

Need to improve the ferry service. No ferry service to island after 3.30pm.

Shouldn't tourists be able to board ferry at 4pm & 5pm?

This cause lots of inconvenience to tourists.

Need to walk long distance to hotel
