I always stay at Dar Skala when I visit Essaouira for shopping. I love it's quirky appeal and Jorge is such a aimable host. This time I visited with a Morrocan friend and it was her first trip to both Dar Skala and Essaouira, needless to say she loved both of them. Thank you so much Jorge for having us...

I commute to Essaouira and my resting point is always at Riad Dar Skala . Homely with a great character , very quiet , comfy bed , nice hot shower , free wifi , great breakfast served on the terrace facing the ocean . The terrace is a treat offering one of the best sea view from morning to sunset...

Ancient house in the Medina , with nice terrace but with no maintenance over the years. Bathrooms, kitchen, terrace furniture need to be renewed because of oldness and cat pee smell. I went with an allergic person and due to the dust and the cats we could not stay and needed to book a riad room.

If you come here sooner or later you need to come back. so stop getting stress at work, book a flight and write that book you never had time to start. Here in the morning you can find the inspiration you need in front of the ocean and the sounds of Morocco.

Great location! Jorge is a great host. We did reserved the "Room Berbere" that's maybe good for 1-2 days but since we were staying for 7 days we ended up taking the larger room "Beldi" well worth the extra dollars. Don't forget to ask Jorge for a list of good restaurants in the neighborhood.

After staying 4 nights in Dar Skala I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else in Essaouira. This place exudes the same rustic charm as the city and the roof terrace offers amazing views of the coast, ramparts and Medina. Watching the waves crash over breakfast, the dramatic sunsets and Jorge's fantastic restaurant recommendations were some of the undoubted highlights...

We had a great time in Essaouria (much better than Marrakech!) and Jorge was greatin helping us get settled. The room is comfortable with windows that overlook the street (don't worry it's not noisy). The roof terrace had great views of the sea and was lovely to have a morning coffee up there. We booked through air bnb and communication...
