First off, the location is excellent, close to the pedestrian shopping street and the main plaza. Breakfast room is on the top floor, with excellent view (reminiscent of Istanbul) rooms are definitely idiosyncratic, but do have a certain charm. Lots of steps so be prepared.

Room was clean, wifi was consistent, shower hot, staff friendly. Good find in a chaotic place. Breakfast was on the top floor, very basic with bread and coffee. You can get eggs for a small fee. Left our bags with the front desk while we did our lake titicaca tour.

We stayed here two nights in room 1 (rather ask for 3, it has a balcony). Our room was small and had a window looking inward to a communal area. The shower was good but a tiny bathroom with an awkward toilet area. The room had a heater and extra blankets. A small cupboard and side table. Bit noisy if... More

I had a bad experience here. I took a shower before going to bed and had no bug bites. I woke up in the middle of the night being bitten all over. I got out of bed and had bites all over me. I went down and woke up the desk clerk and got another room. In the morning I... More

This is a great little hotel to visit in Puno, it has comfortable, spacious rooms with hot showers (not a given always in Peru) and the staff, especially the owner are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast offered is also very good and you get an incredible view from the top floor of Lake Titicaca. Also there is free internet... More

Hostal is very dark in the entrance lobby & rather cold when we were there. Room was small but clean and had a heater. Overall Hostal is pretty basic, staff were helpful with all our queries & location is Very convenient! It's easy enough to find your way home as there is a bookshop opposite that blasts out panpipe music... More

Beautiful, quirky decorations in the common areas (including a colorful mural that spans all six or seven floors), clean rooms, reliably hot water, and in-room wi-fi. I stayed there both before and after my trip to the Islas Uros and Taquile, in two different rooms. One had an external window, lots of sunlight, and a good-size bathroom. The other one... More

We arrived at 5:00am to Puno on an overnight bus from Cusco. It took just under 20 minutes to walk to Hostal Pukara from the bus station. What was frightening to see were the four giant padlocks on two gates outside the hostel's entrance. Yikes. We rang the buzzer and tried to knock the doors (if you could reach your... More

The hostal was booked as part of a G Adventures Peru tour. Upon entrance, the hotel had a quirky feel to it - liked that the room keys were attached to little dolls (nice touch). However, the accommodation was fairly basic. Luckily our room was on the first floor up; however, I know of other people in our group who... More

This hotel charges us S150/night for a dirty, cricket, noisy thriple room, next to a bar that was loud all night. The bathroom was very small, when sit on the toilet the knees hit the wall in front, was very uncomfortable, would not recommend at all. Plus the owner lady charged extra for the trips like Sullistany and transport to... More
