With comfortable budget accommodations, personalized service, and an exciting location, backpackers will find Lokal Hostel offers a uniquely immersive experience of the local scene. Hospitable service and basic amenities provide an easy-going stay for its guests to take rest. Vibrant murals by some of the most respected street artists decorate Lokal's rooms and hallway walls, welcoming guests to their transient home. Its covered rooftop offers visitors a panoramic view of the neighborhood and a breathable respite from the city bustle. Located in the colorful Poblacion district of Makati City, Metro Manila, where the red light district has since become a destination for food and live local music, Lokal Hostel is at the heart of one of the fastest and most exciting developing neighborhoods. The walkable area of Poblacion will lead you to row upon row of cafés, bars, and restos that spill into the street and have you making friends with your neighbors. In a city district where every corner awaits something new to be discovered, Lokal Hostel's home court will thrill visitors with a truly authentic cultural experience.
This place is a dump! It’s in Makati’s red district which would’ve been fine if the hostel didn’t exactly reflect the dirtiness and sleeziness of its streets. By the end of our 3 night stay, I was convinced that the place was half hostel-half brothel. We saw the same Filipino women hang around these dirty bean bags at the hostel all day long who frequently talked and flirted with the middle-aged fat black and white men that that were there during the evenings. On the weekend we were there, we came back and saw women dressed in bright tight dresses and ridiculously high heels, looking very out of place, talking to these same guys. The common areas were usually frequented by these people so we avoided them but when they were empty, there was garbage and messes left behind. The washroom and showers were also disgusting. Piss-covered toilets, no toilet paper, hair and garbage in the showers. We asked for a double bed but they only had a room with two singles available at the time, the guy at reception just said we should push the two beds together and then only gave us a single sheet and blanket for our two single beds. This was not a very good first impression. Speaking of reception, the people stationed here don’t seem to care who comes and goes which, as a woman, made me feel very unsafe. If you’re desperate to save a buck, the hostel’s few pros include air conditioning in the rooms and purified water available at no extra cost. The location is also optimal but with the Grab ride sharing app so readily available, you can easily stay somewhere much cleaner and just take a Grab in and out of the city centre. If you’re on a super tight budget, stay here. But even while on a tight budget, I strongly feel that things like cleanliness and safety shouldn’t be sacrificed.…

This place is 100% gross. I booked and paid online. I did read the few bad reviews of the this place but thought well maybe i'll see for myself... big mistake! This place is filthy! I paid extra to have an aircon room, but the room that I was assigned had a guy living in it for 2 months on the bottom bunk (he was actually really nice), but the AC only faced him and I couldn't feel anything from the top bunk. When I first walked into the room the sheets of the bunk assigned to me were used!! USED! The front desk girl had to change the sheets in front of me!!! The bathroom was trash. It looked like it's never been cleaned. I actually left within 20min and found another hostel Z hostel. Lokal hostel is so disgusting I left my $11 behind and hit the door running! If you don't mind a filthy disgusting place.. then this might be for you. Side note: try using Traveloka app to get deals on hostels.…

We loved our stay here and their staffs are very accommodating as well. We loved the style of their room, very Pinoy because of the graffiti arts. Their rooms are good for travelers with a tight budget or not. The location is a bit-off because it is situated in the red-light district, hence there are loads of good place to eat.

I stayed here from 10 Aug 2018 to 19 August 2018. The only thing going for this Hostel is the hardworking staff. Compared to other hostels in the area there is a reason why it is so cheap. This hostel overall is in poor shape. The owner needs to invest some money back into this hostel in order to bring it back to what it was five years ago. Everything needs renovating. From the bathrooms to the bedrooms and kitchen. The top floor deck is nice but that is about it. The staff are awesome though. The manager needs more staff to keep this place tidy and clean. Dwight you are doing a great job considering the circumstances. For everyone else, I would only recommend staying here ONLY if you have no other choice or if you don't have enough money to stay in one of the other hostels in the same area.…

I've been staying in this hostel for almost 10 months now and I would say that I already felt really comfortable with the place and its staff. It certainly has a 'homey' atmosphere and the guests have treated each other like a family. I like its large and comfortable beds which are far different from all the other hostels and dormitories. Beddings are changed often and cleanliness in the rooms are well-maintained. However, I would suggest that the reception and the rest of the common areas should be air-conditioned. That way, guests who are inquiring for the first time would not have the impression that the place is not well-ventilated. Also, I noticed that there are small cockroaches roaming around especially in the pantry and the dining area. It would be better to get rid of them totally so as not to scare the guests. Nevertheless, I salute the management and staff for their hard work and for keeping Lokal Hostel the best hostel in Makati! :)…

Very reasonable price and very friendly staff!! (hi dwight!) THIS PLACE FEELS LIKE HOME. ITS IN THE CENTER OF POBLACION SO YOU'RE REALLY NEAR EVERYWHERE LIKE EL CHUPA CABRA, POLILYA AND ALL THE BARS. They should also airconized the whole sala and give free towels ;( but despite that, this place is magical! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Love from Cebu! xx

It's my first time trying a Hostel. It's been a week already and I've met a lot of lovely people. I didn't expect too much, but I'm loving it! The staff here are very accommodating and understanding. Shout out to Dwight and Joel for being nice to me the whole time. I suggest free towels though. Also it's better to put air-condition especially in the front desk area and the hallways.

I was staying with a friend at lokal hostel for two nights in a 4 bed dorm. We really liked the creative paintings on the Walls. The staff was always good company and was willing to give us good advice of how to explore the city. The view on the top of the building is an awesome extra bonus and offers a lot space!!
