The hostel is very far from the village. It is about 25 min by foot. The place has no name on the fence so you need to know the number of the house before going. Then I ask a simple question about boat shuttle to the receptionist and she wasn't able to answer. I think the least you can do...

The hostel itself is a lovely traditional timber building set in a peaceful forested valley, an athletic walk up from the beach. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are kind and helpful. However some minor gripes include: very low pressure in the shower, kitchen lacking provisions (no washing up liquid, not enough knives, bowls...) and thin walls. There is...

I emailed Jack to make a booking and received a very friendly and quick reply confirming my reservation which was great. I managed to find the hostel fairly easily, although it is quite a walk from the main road, and was quickly checked in. The hostel itself is lovely - wood features, great views and very clean and warm. I...

When we reached the hostel, we rang the bell intermittently which didn't work. For 25 minutes in the cold we frequently attempted to use the bell and rapped the knocker on the gate. About to give up and try elsewhere, we frustratingly heard an unfriendly voice say through the buzzer "we have a bell", as if we hadn't been trying...

I was at Baikaler Eco Hostel with a friend during February, 2015. The place is just so cute! Everything on wood, the house was beautiful and the accommodations were nice as well, clean. The place is an ECO hostel, so the showers and everything else are sort of 'economic'. So don't expect to have the best shower ever - the...

A good and correct hostel. The manager is very helpfull. She can arrange some visits around the lake or other activities. A lot of backpackers stay here so the atmosphere is very international and fun . It is pretty far 1.5km from the Baikal lake. The only big problem is : there is no wifi!

This place is a little chaotic - they kept moving people from room to room from day to day. It's a good walk up hill from town. The rooms were comfortable. It's not very big and it has a nice kitchen where people tended to sit, chat and have a few beers when we were there. The manager was quite...

Ok, so this is a review of a tour provided by baikaler rather than the property but pls read on! We stayed in Irkutsk but arranged a city tour and lake baikal tour with jack. Turned out we were the only two people on the tour which was brilliant. We had an interesting tour of Irkutsk and its main historical...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Baikaler Eco-Hostel welcomes you to stay in a cozy wooden house, located in the village Listvyanka. Built from wood, well insulated and energy efficient, the place is carefully imbedded into the environment. The eco-hostel maintains healthy atmosphere and sets new standards for comfort, security and design. We offer a wide range of activities. The house has 4 guest rooms with shared facilities: 3 twins and 1 dorm for 4 people. There are 2 toilets and 1 shower. Fully equipped kitchen is for common use. Each twin room has LCD TV and multimedia players. There is also a common library for guests. An English speaking staff is there to help. Another solar house has 1 dormitory room for 8 people + a single room. There are 3 toilets and 1 solar shower, fully equipped kitchen, common room with large screen + DVDs. There is also a wonderful Russian Banya (Sauna). Baikaler eco-hostel is located almost at the end of the street, near the forest. Don’t be turned off by the fact that it is ‘far’. It is just away from the mass tourism. The distance from the lake Baikal to the hostel is 1200m (25-30 min walk up and 20 min down). There is no view of the lake from the hostel windows (it has magnificent view of the forested hill though) ... more   less
