Hui Dong or 'Eastern Cornucopia Holiday Hotel' was recommended to us because it is away from the city, thus twice less expensive from fancy establishments like the Garden Hotel. We stayed for 3 nights and it was a pretty decent place despite being really dated and old. Like many 3-star establishments in China, you get what you pay for. For RMB238 (USD38), I get the usual musky corridor, ciggie-reeking room with really basic amenities including a locked mini fridge. However, the room is really spacious as I got a two large single-bed and a space that can accommodate probably another 2 more double beds. While TV channels were limited to mostly CCTV, there's a pretty good range where you can pick up some English news via Hong Kong broadcasts. The beds are hard but at least the sheets looked and felt clean. It was chilly during this time of the year so we didn't had the opportunity to test the air-con.
