When my wife and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, it was part of the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) group. Very large rooms, excellent meals (both breakfast and dinners) and a big effort to provide good quality service by staff. On the minus side were the out of the way location and lack of english speaking...

As we arrived and entered the lobby, there was no other soul then the receptionist. It felt like a ghost hotel. Bellboy is shy and smiles just a little. The room was very nice no problems there. Now, the breakfast buffet was hideous, the food quality was poor, the presentation was just poor in all aspects, the chefs are slow...

Still suggest to carry your intelligent phone with google translator as it could be your best help in some numerous cases . But staff very kind . We always stay for long trips...

I had breakfast at this hotel in their "Always Cantonese" dining area. I can't say enough about how good this typical cantonese breakfast was - everything superbly fresh with lots of seafood and typical cantonese swwet, topped off with a lovely atmosphere, beautiful cutlery and superb service. The restaurant is adjacent to a lush garden with tropical plants and ponds....

This hotel is really good; the junior suites are really comfortable, they have great service (including the business center), the buffet restaurants are exotic and different. It's definitely not like the typical carry-out food found in America. There's different types of vegetables, sauces, and a variety of meats. They have an hourly shuttle service to and from Canton Fair.

Like all Chinese run five star hotels in China, I suspect, there are unending differences between (a) the level of luxury of the physical place itself (Chateau Star River Haiyi Peninsula is genuinely 5 star IMO) and (b) the way the hotel is actually run. Let me give a couple of examples. The restaurant where the buffet breakfast is served...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for the Canton Fair. Found it via Agoda who were offering an unbelievable rate for a 5 star hotel. The hotel is like a palace - no expense spared. Staff are polite, helpful and obliging. It's a shame then to have to say that all this hotel's wonderful attributes - including a...

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Room is very big and staff is very helpfull. But everything is in a typical Chinese style, and I missed western food, both in the evening and in the morning. Sorry.

I was concerned about staying here based on some reviews that I may not be staying at the main property. This a new location and hotel, not too far from main property. It is a 5 star property and they have spared no expense! One should make sure they understand which property they are booking as Chateau Star River offers...

“Due to a booking muckup we were upgraded (at cost) to an executive room which was stunning - but so might the standard ones have been. Certainly no noise from the sixth floor!”
