No real complaints about the hotel. I am traveling with a Chinese friend who wanted to stay here as part of a “Sentimental Journey.” Staff works hard to please, rooms are clean, shower pressure is good. However, typical of Chinese hotels. beds are very hard… Staff nicely accommodated me by bringing two extra comforters.

For morning breakfast, there is a Starbucks and numerous dumpling take away shops. For Western dinner and craft beer, try “GOAT” brewing, about Four miles away with taxi.

Clean property with a superb location right next to the underground railway.

It is connected with a Mall and a supermarket. Walmart located within 2 minutes walking distance and has Pizza Hut and Subway close by.

I have stayed at the Bai Yun for two years in a row while in Guangzhou on Business and i will use the hotel again this year. The staff is attentive and polite although you may have to be a little patient with their english(you are in their country after all). The hotel is very clean. The rooms are generous in size and seem to be very well kept with all the modern amenities you would expect to see anywhere. The cost to upgrade to a Executive VIP room (about $10 a night) is worth it for the extra space to work, relax or socialize. Transportation is readily available, but dont expect to get anywhere quickly by taxi, bus or anything that uses the roads. This is a busy city and rush hour lasts all day. The "western" restaraunt in the hotel is way overpriced for guangzhou and really not great but there are lots of excellent restaraunts close by and they are VERY reasonable. The hotel is well situated so that you can browse high end shops, right outside the lobby or walk a few blocks and see the real Guangzhou and shop from various street vendors and tiny shops with all sorts of stuff for sale. There are a couple of bars nearby as well including an Elephant & Castle pub about a two minute walk from the front door. My rule of thumb for dining while in China is to look for the best looking restaraunt on the street and just go there. You'll be treated like royalty and the prices are so cheap, compared to North American standards you won't believe how little it costs... and you will never have to worry about being sick. This area is well known for excellent dining!
When going out in the evening, keep track of your wallet and cell phone. I have never had a problem but it's always good advice to be alert when travelling. There are a number of beggars and "street people" that hover around the pedestrian bridge that crosses the road but they are not aggressive.

Enjoy your trip to China! The country and this city in particular is an interesting study in contrasts.

Location is good with adjoining shopping mall where all major brands are available.
Rooms are comfortable. Check in process is efficient.
Shopping arcade, Starbucks just next to it.
Only issue that if u r on business trip and expecting some of ur guest or suppliers to visit and meet then sorry as per hotel policy no guest allowed.
Taxi service is available on front desk.
Beware of taxi drivers they change your money with fake ones. So be careful and never give big currency notes always carry change.

Booked our trip on the website http://www.baiyunhotelguangzhou.com/ and confirmed our reservation over the phone the week before traveling. We had a print out with the rate that we booked at. We also informed the front desk the week before that we would not have the physical card used to reserve the room because it was the boss's card and he would not be there. Was told to bring a scan of the card, driver's license of the holder, and signed letter stating that we were authorized users. Brought all of these things. When we went to check in, we were told that because we did not have the physical card, we could not use our existing reservation and were charged the walk in rate, which was triple what we booked at. They then tried to tell us that the rate that we were guaranteed and booked at was really just a deposit- absolutely not true. It did not say that anywhere on the confirmation or website when making the booking. Completely unhelpful and really just trying to rip us off.

This was my fifth stay at this hotel and I noticed a lot of change in staff this time. They behaved very well just like any European hotel .they gave us early check in which proved very good for me.The bus service provided by hotel for canton fair was also super.Hotel activities for the guests were also interesting. The only suggestion I can give is to give some new looks to the rooms.

Due to massive supply of high quality international 5* hotels in China, the original wave of 5*, such as Baiyun, look and feel very dated. The best thing about this hotel is the location, although it can get a bit sketchy at night. The rooms need investment, the breakfast buffet is average-poor and service cannot compete with a Western brand.

I stayed here recently for the Canton Fair. Its a perfect place to stay if you are in Guangzhou for the Canton Fair or for a business trip. Its centrally located and the Taojin Metro station (Exit B) which is on the red line is located right in front of the Hotel. Guangzhou East Railway Station (for Hong Kong trains) is about 15-20 minutes away by taxi (approx 25 - 30 RMB). Make sure you have the Chinese Address of the Hotel to show the taxi driver because they understand zilch in english and there are lot of places in Guangzhou that are named Baiyun. The hotel is connected to the Frienship mall, which is a perfect shopping destination if you are into brand shopping. Two the very famous restaurants in Guangzhou, Sultan Turkish restaurant and the Banana Leaf Thai restaurant are very near to the hotel.

Breakfast is served on the 30th Floor at the Western Restaurant from 6AM to 10AM. The breakfast is very good with lot of choices. There is a free bus shuttle to Canton Fair, which start at 8:30AM (available every 30mins untill 10:30AM) in front of the hotel. The return bus shuttle from the Canton Fair back to the hotel starts at 4:30PM in the parking lot behind complex A (in front of 3.1 entarance, parking P207). Most hotels in Guangzhou provide complementary snacks for guests returning from Canton Fair, but I found no such special hospitality for Canton Fair guests in this hotel. Also found some staff (even one at the receptionist) who did not even understand english, which I did not expect in a 5 star hotel.

I stayed in room 1726 (with 2 single beds) and I found the room bit congested. My colleages who were staying in room 1727 (with 1 King bed) was more spacious than mine. The shower unit control in my bath seemed faulty, had water that was either very hot or very cold, could not get anything in between. Moreover I was not too happy with the quality of some toiletries like the bathing foam and shampoo provided. The Spa Center provided the worst massage and to top it all the masseuse girls were opening asking for tips after their bad service, definetly not what you expect from a 5-star hotel spa. Also found it strange that the main lobby of the Hotel did not have any place to sit. If you had visitors you probably had to take them to the 17 Floor.

Hi Dear There is no need to book in advance. Just ask the airport staff and they will guide you to the shuttle stand for Garden Hotel. It takes ¥18 till there. Baiyun hotel is just opposite to the Garden Hotel and you can walk down by the over bridge.
