We actually went there while wondering around the West Lake park for some nice food. We did not stay at the hotel.
Service was not the fastest but the Beijing duck was quite nice. Crab is also another speciality of the house.

Very kind people. Very well located just near a park north of west lake. Easy to find taxis. Close to railway station 45mn. Service very good. Hotel itself very cute. Good restaurant. Good bar to have cocktails. We will come back again

Typically in China, if you are not in a persons line of sight his problem (your request for an email) goes away, or is no longer his concern. With education over time this aspect might be corrected but for now it has permeated right throughout service positions and applies equally when you visit Government offices.
