Pros: - Comfortable bed. - Good location for bus transport. - Cheap rates. - Adequate room size. - Friendly staff on the whole. Cons: - We were early and paid on arrival, although room expectedly wasn't ready. Returned later to collect the key. "You not yet pay!". " Umm... Yes we have." Would be a good idea to check these...

6 of us have stayed in the tatami room for 3 nights while exploring Kyoto. I would say this is a good budget stay for a family. 2 bathrooms provided and we don't have to wait too long during morning and shower sessions. There is a small balcony and in case you need to dry some clothes overnight, yes you...

We had a twin room which was big enough for the both of us with our luggage, with a very small bathroom, however, I enjoyed the bath very much it was small but very deep and there was lots of hot water. Breakfast was included which consisted of pastries, coffee and tea. Close to lots of good restaurants, and transport...

Staff are sensational. Very helpful and courteous. Close to Kyoto station, bus stops and the subway system. Wasn't concerned that the rooms are not cleaned each day. Fantastic value. Only downside was the tiny shower. Really small. But if you're looking for accommodation in central Kyoto at a great rate the Econo-Inn is definitely worth considering. Would stay there again...

I accomodated there two nights on my own. The room was big and the place was quiet. You could meet other people on the meeting room at the ground floor. If you can get a good deal at this inn and you are only interested in a place to sleep, then this will do fine. Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
