We booked this hotel because of 3 reasons: good location near main station, acceptable price and traditional Japanese style.
Do not book this hotel if you have any problems with movement or your back. Since there is absolutely no place to sit in the room...More
Everything is perfect. it is a pity that pics don't give justice to the nice ryokan! the ryokan is located close to the railway station, where u can find a big mall with restaurants and shops and everything! unfortunately i book only one night here...More
Me and a friend needed to stay in Kyoto for a night and for a 3-4 minute walk away from Kyoto station this location couldn't be beat for the price we stayed at. Multiple shared restrooms, very clean, good facilities. Would definitely stay here again,...More
I'm not sure if the hotel manager was just shy, bored of his life and job or just never learnt how to smile, but this is the wrong job for him. It might sound a little harsh but he made the stay horrible.
the ryokan is very nice but the guest is really strict with the rules: doors and showers are closed at 23, so before 23, having the shower is mandatory... it can impact with your vacation plans.
The ryocan is really typical and clean.

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

This place is a ryokan, not a hotel with all facilities you might be looking for. The place and rooms are comfortable but in a traditional Japanese style so it might not be appropriate for senior adults. It's a three storey building counting the basement where shower facilities are. The top floor is also available for guests.
