I have never been welcomed so warmly at a hotel, they were so friendly and helpful throughout despite limited English. The location is excellent, walking distance to the Kiyomizu-dera temple, Gion restaurant district and to the bus and metro network so it was easy to get everywhere in Kyoto. Not luxurious but very clean and nice attention to details, an... More

Rooms are in very spacious Japanese style - lovely expirience. Lacation - very close to the beautiful Kiyomizu-Dera and old Kioto district. English speaking and very helpful staff! Amazing Japanese style breakfast and nice bathroom! Everything was just great! You can hire a bike.

Traditional stay in Kyoto, with great Japanese breakfast, typical bath and super comfortable beds :-)). Location is just at the main road leading to the Clear Water Temple, so you may reach it in 5 min walk. Staff is extremely friendly and their limited English does not harm at all!

The short of it: This place is a great option if you are looking for the ryokan experience without the hefty price tag. Won't be the most luxurious but is definitely a great stay! Time your onsen visit to avoid running into other people as it is very small and sharing with someone else can get awkward (if you're not... More

The location is the major plus of this Ryokan. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the breakfast and onsen each day. We were able to explore the back streets and Kyomizudera Temple early before the crowds. The service is good.

We spent three nights at this traditional ryokan, located on the street climbing up to the Kyomizudera Temple. This hotel is very peaceful, well appointed, and perfectly located. The staff is very kind and helpful, and goes to lengths to make you feel at home. The wording "shared bathroom" in the hotel description is a bit misleading, making you think... More

This was the last hotel we stayed in on a rapid fire trip through Japan. And it was an excellent choice. The location is great - in a very fun part of town with easy walking access to a bunch of attractions and restaurants. The facility is high quality, surprisingly large and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. And... More

This place is very nice, the rooms are comfortable, the bath is lovely & quite easy to navigate for adults & children. Breakfast is very good & very traditional. The staff are exceptionally helpful with restaurant & travel guidance. I would say that this is a very good value option very close to Kiyomizu-dera, I would stay here again.

A memorable part of my trip to Japan that proved to be fun was the decision to stay in a traditional Japanese inn called a “Ryokan.” Having saved quite a bit of money staying with friends in Tokyo for two nights, I decided to spend a little bit extra than I normally would have to stay experience the flip-side to... Very nice location, close to kiomizu temple, the 3rd floor room can see the 八重塔。 the staff are very helpful, they even dressed me up with my yokata! Rooms are more spacious than I thought with a nice balcony.
