The hotel is just minutes away from the Kyoto station, so it's a perfect home base. The breakfast provided in the morning is impressive -- traditional Japanese offerings as well as Western options. The "Ramen Hour" at night made for a perfect way to end the day. Don't miss the onsen experience in the hotel. The hot springs are relaxing...

We stayed here for three nights in March. The location is perfect as it is less than a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station. Staff were very friendly and obliging. Rooms were small but extremely clean and comfortable. The onsen was a treat along with the pyjamas and slippers provided and the complimentary evening ramen and coffee in the morning....

Stayed for 4 nights, great location - easy walk to Kyoto station where there were plenty of food options and had 2 convenient stores nearby. The staff were always super friendly, with the free hot spring/sauna and noodles every night adding to our superb experience. There was also an amazing ramen restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Would stay again!

When you step out of Kyoto main station and keep a few paces to your right, you'll have the dormy inn right in front of you. Here, you'll find everything a tired traveller needs, like a clean and well organized room - albeit on the small side, a knowledgable and helpful staff and excellent service . The highlights. however, are...

Thank you very much for your warm comments to us. We are so happy to hear that you have enjoyed our services. At our restaurants, we are serving both Japanese and Western style breakfast, but especially we are proud of "Kyoto Food" which we serve. We hope you could enjoy them as well. Very good stay. The location is perfect - a stone's throw from the Kyoto Station and Bus Terminus so very easy access to get around using public transport. There's a lot of shopping around the hotel too. The staff, especially Nosaka, were very helpful, patient and genuinely cared about us having a great experience in Kyoto. We were given lots...

Only stayed here for one night when I took a day trip to Kyoto from Tokyo. The room is small (typical size for Japan) but I felt that they have put a lot of thought into the layout. Not an inch of space is wasted and everything is within reach. TV gives you a lot of useful information such as...

The Dormy Inn chain is my favorite hotel in Japan thus far. I always look for a Dormy Inn when I visit a new place in Japan. I was ecstatic to find one near by the train station when I returned to Kyoto. As always, I love the breakfast and big 'onsen' bath in Dormy Inn. I was there during...

When staying to a hotel, the number one priority for us is how comfortable the beds are. Coming from Australia, I prefer beds that are soft (not like hard mats - though I know there are people from different countries and cultures who prefer hard beds). The beds in this hotel were very hard and it felt uncomfortable. I previously...

Our room was absolutely spotless. The location is fantastic, right next to the train station. Comfortable bedding and front desk staff were very helpful. Our room was made up really well everyday, you could tell they even vacuumed daily. Will definitely stay here again!

Just one-night stay after Kyoto sightseeing. Compact room for two with built in shower room. As most of business hotels provide, all amenities include towels and pajamas, you don't have to bring anything but just clothes for tomorrow. I love their public bath and open-air bath, very good way to relax after a hard-day walking. You may love their complimentary...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
