The location is fantastic for restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. and it is also centrally located to visit the major tourist attractions throughout the city. Beds are extremely comfortable. The room felt very small due to too much furniture (an extra chair and small table dominated any free space), but was pretty average by most large city standards. The breakfast buffet... More

Well-placed location, minutes away from the subway and city bus route. Shopping and food all close by. Gion and Nishi market are within walking distance. Beautiful decor. Loved the bathroom. We had a comfort deluxe triple room with no breakfast, but with other food options nearby, this doesn't bother us. This is our favourite city hotel during our trip. The... More

This hotel was fully booked when I stayed and I had to wait till 3pm to gain access to my room which wasn't an inconvenience because it gave me time to get accustomed to the facilities in the area and a bite to eat. The room had two King size beds which was a waste because I was travelling on... More

Hotel is in good location and staff are very helpful. Cleanliness however... as with most hotels in japan amenities such as shampoo etc are provided in shared bottles. They say this is for environmental purposes but most likely it's a cost saving issue. I was very weary of contamination and hygiene because of this. How do you know the last... More

After staying at a dozen hotels in Kyoto, we now see this hotel as one of our top choices. The hotel is new and everything worked well. We had a corner room as there were three of us and it was just enough to move around. The location is really unbeatable as there were shops, cafes, attractions within 10 minute... More

it's the ideal hotel if you want to be near the shopping district, nishiki market and gion street. What i love most about the hotel is the coin operated laundry machines. the location is perfect. though the rooms may seem small it's actually pretty standard since iv'e heard that kyoto hotel rooms are generally smaller than other cities of japan

The twin room is a good size according to Japanese standard - one has a hard time trying to fully open up a suitcase. I also booked a corner room (a total of 2 rooms) and the space is good to open up 2 suitcases with some minor re-arrangement of the room's furniture. The bed is comfortable and they replenish... The Royal Park Hotel is a superb hotel with immaculate room and top rate service. Staying here was part of a 13 walking and sightseeing holiday and the hotels facilities and proximity to major visitors places and easy access to the rail facilities, both local and national, were a major benefit. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotal

Location couldn`t be better: in the heart of Kyoto with first rate shopping, restaurants, bars and transport on the doorstep. From the moment we arrived to being helped away with our taxi the staff were excellent: approachable, professional and friendly.....they dealt with our inexhaustible lists of questions with enormous understanding and patience. Sometimes staff in Japan can be a little... More

Very good location and staff are very friendly and helpful. As for the room, the bed and linen are very comfortable and clean, and all facilities in the room and hotel exceeded our expectations. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
