Currently prices are quite reasonable for decent-sized rooms. Including breakfast and lounge access is worthwhile, although on Saturday the lounge filled up and it was a 90 minute wait to get in. Location is near a station on the northern edge of the city, meaning most places are not a short walk, but transport can get you there. Nice fitness area. No hot springs though. Free parking, but driving through city takes ages. A car makes sense if you are heading north though.

If you want quiet and peace, this is a good 5 star hotel to stay. Very reasonable price for a 5 star hotel. Near the metro rail system as well - walking distance. There not much eating establishments near though. You may have to walk a few meters to find a good place to eat with very reasonable price.

The hotel is located far from all the attractions. But there is a subway nearby so it is still accessible easily. It is an old hotel but still in good condition. Comfy bed, friendly staffs and being far from the busy area gives it a peaceful and quiet feel. Best location to stay if you are attending an event at Kyoto International Conversation Center.

Good - Royal floor lounge. Spacious room. Bad - so bad we voted with our feet 5 star prices but not 5 star, especially after 3 nights in Tokyo New Otani hotel. Choice of queue for breakfast in one restaurant or the gold room. It was worse than St Thomas primary school canteen, complete with greasy table cloth and non existent service. We gave them the opportunity to put this right by reserving table at 07:30 but not prepared to do that so we cut short our 4 night stay and checked out. Had they put this right we would probably have stayed. Hardly anyone spoke good English. Not very well staffed. Bed was rock hard. Poor location at the end of a subway line way out. Yet Booking.com think it was a “great location”. Infested with party of school kids. Coffee table in the room had multiple cup rings and stains on, should have been a clue to what to expect. No bottled water or towelling gowns in room.
