Right across from the train station and minutes away from great site seeing and restaurants. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were spacious and accommodating. There's local transportation in walking distance to the major temples along with the Gion district which is beautiful. If you happen to see a Geishia do not take a picture of them.

Stayed here in triple room with wife and daughter. We just needed a place to sleep and this is what the Kyoto Tower Hotel offers. It is not fancy. It is a bit dated but the rooms are functional, clean and very quiet. Our room was the standard triple--which means three beds side by side--typical Japanese spacing. We expected that--but...

Review scale 1-5 Location 5*: conveniently located across from the Kyoto station, beneath the Kyoto Tower attraction, the hotel was easy to access and find. Restaurants nearby included a nice mix of American chains, upscale, and hole in the wall options. Room 4*: for the price paid, the room was surprisingly spacious. Room amenities included a mini fridge, tea, coffee...

Had a Deluxe Double - the bed and room is maybe a foot wider than a Standard Double, but any extra space is appreciated in smallish Japanese hotel rooms. Yukata and slippers and toiletries provided and coffee/tea facilities. No in room safe. You can 10% coupons for use in the souvenir and snacks shop downstairs. Prices are reasonable with a...

We had two nights in Kansai area and wanted to stay near the Kyoto station, as we arrived from Tokyo with the shinkansen, and wanted to explore areas around Kyoto. This hotel is in the Kyoto Tower, and also houses a large public bath underneath. The entrance is on street level across the road from the hyper modern Kyoto Central...

Iconic building in handy location for the station, but that really is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. Our room was very very dated with scuffed walls, dirt on the bathroom door, mould on the bathroom wall and a cracked sink. Had we not been having such an incredible holiday I would have made a huge...

As you exit the Kyoto station just look up and you'll see the Kyoto Tower. The hotel entrance is at the base of the tower, just across the street from the station. Just cross the street at the corner (with a lot of other people!) and turn left. Walk about 1/4 block and look for the entrance. The lobby is...

Located directly across the street from Kyoto station for trains and buses. Great food in the station. Hotel is older. Rooms larger than expected for Japan. Bathroom tiny, similar to a cruise ships bathroom. Hotel staff speaks English and try's hard to help out. The only issue is the ac did not cool very well.

My kids and I stayed for 1 nigh 2 days at this hotel. The location is perfect. It is located across the Kyoto station which is convenient for the metro and the bullet train (Shinkansen). The rooms are spacious but the carpet was a little dirty. The bathroom was small but with all the amenities. The personnel was extremely polite...

The hotel very convenient, 1 minute walk to Kyoto Station, the room big enough for 3 beds, the bathroom typical Japanese(small and compact). The good thing is the toilet seat very warm but the downside is the shower curtain very smelly! About the room, I think the need to clean more, specialy at windows area have a lot of dust!

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
