This hotel is great for young travellers who are keen on exploring Kyoto. It is located quite close to the train station, therefore it is easy to travel around. The rooms are very nice, with a washing machine, fridge, stove and private bathroom. The only issue was to get to the beds, you have to climb up a ladder -...

Somehow perfectly adequate despite the tiny size. Had everything we could possibly need and more. In a very good location with easy access to the station and plenty of places to eat in the area. A bit tricky to find if you're not paying attention.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in this guesthouse last week (mid Sept 2016) The location is about a ten min walk from the station and is close by to a bakery (good for breakfast on the go) We really liked it - it's like a small capsule apartment, with a loft bed. The place is very clean...

We arrived slightly early but the manager was there to welcome us and take our bags. He explained about what we could in the meantime, when the room was ready and already gave us the keys. The location is excellent, just a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station in a quiet area. The apartment itself is compact but has everything...

I'm amazed. Every thing in this apartment is so small and the apartment is small to but every thing that you need fits. Just it's really hard to find and you can't check-in before you have your bookings time. Apartments are near the station and near some sightseeing places.

We stayed for six days in a two-person apartment. Location of this guesthouse is fine, though it's further from the station than the map - provided by the guesthouse - shows (the map it's indeed out of proportion). The apartment was on the second floor - no elevators and very small staircase, but we had expected that after reading information...

We stayed here for 2 nights, the space is okay for 2 girls. It has a kitchenette and a wash machine which is really useful. Though we only have time to boil water. It's located at a very quiet neighborhood, around 15-min walk to Kyoto Station, 10-min to bus stop. The only TV is in the bathroom but we didn't...

Stay 1 night in this property during my trip to Kyoto this autumn, November 2015. It is like a studio type having beds, living rooom, kitchen, and desktop computer. I feel like living in a small Japanese house in a quiet resicence. Though it is a bit hard to locate the guesthouse, but very comfortable and value.

within 10 minutes of walking distance from Kyoto station, which makes it very convenient to visit all the attractions in Kyoto and catch the trains and shinkansen to nearby cities like Nara and Osaka. We were delighted to see the washing machine as we had accumulated a lot of laundry by that point in our trip. There was a stove...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
