Great hotel with beautiful traditional room and excellent breakfast! The traditional wing is really beautiful, it's antique building and super well maintain, the garden will amazed you! and one night is not enough!

This is an efficient and nice hotel that gives you a view of Kyoto. Some great temples nearby and the shuttle bus brings you to the station and has two stops on the way. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the hotel but it did not excel. It is very efficient, the food is fine, the lounge has great...

This hotel is in a leafy part of Kyoto compared to the hustle bustle near Kyoto Station so a more relaxing feel. At close look you will see the hotel is in need of refurbishment. Our room size was adequate but furnishings dated and the mattress in need of replacement. Not up to Westin standards. On the positive side, the...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your...

Spent two nights here at the Westin Miyako Kyoto - it was a very nice hotel. We lucked out and had a upgrade to the room for preferred starwood guests - so our room had a private garden balcony with city view :) The breakfast buffet was only okay, very crowded and selection was decent. I would recommend going to...

My mom and I moved to this hotel after stayed one night in Hyatt Regency Kyoto. Didn't like the Hyatt, small room with minimalist decor, maybe they're trying to interpret the Zen spirit in Japanese culture. However I'm traveling and a spacious bathroom, comfortable bed and convenient location are essential needs. Westin fulfilled all my needs. Right at the corner...

We spent 4 nights there in late March - it was a most enjoyable experience. Location: Nice, very quiet in the back / busy road up front, Not to far from several restaurants and shops. Rooms: Big, spaceous, ample cupboard space, nice and reasonably big bathroom. Buffet dinner was excellent - BUT: the atmosphere in the breakfast room (also used...

I'm a Marriott/SPG lifetime platinum member, so I've staying in quite a few Westins and this one easily has the worst facilities of any one I've been at. It is truly Westin in name only. The lobby is nice, but the rooms and other areas of the facility are very old and are in desperate need of being refurbished. The...

The shuttle driver who picked us up at Kyoto Station was very helpful, especially with members of my family who have mobility limitations. At the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a bigger room. Great start! The room itself was quite big (family room on Executive floor) but was a bit old. The furnishings and bathroom just...

One never knows what to expect. This is a good hotel, great rooms (when on the outside you can even let your window open, big balcony, spacious rooms. You even get pyjama or kimono to sleep in. Very nice bar, breakfast not really up to date. Continental and Japanese department. Very big hotel. Friendly staff, suitable to stay, nothing to...

A pleasant western hotel in a japonese city...a bit cold in decor and energy. The employees seem nice but do not go out of their way to exceed customer expectation. After arriving from a long day and unable to get dinner reservations at one of the hotel restaurants, we asked if we could order room service but have it at...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
