This hotel is very conveniently located by the Gojo subway station. As is true with many hotel rooms in Japan, our room was small by Western Standards, but it was otherwise very nice - clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very professional and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel even only on these points. But Aranvert has one extra thing...

The Aranvert Hotel is a standard hotel with good access to public transit and local tourist attractions. The staff is friendly and professional. The Wifi is good and reliable. The one amenity that makes this hotel better than average is the public bath located on the 13th floor. The bath has a great view of the mountains and Kyoto tower....

We stayed there for 3 nights. Our room was small, as well bathroom. Personnel was nice and helpful. Main benefit is its location, with a Family Mart across the street and nearby subway station, and its public bath. The view from our room was not really thrilling

Good location opposite seven eleven and near subway station. Little beds pushed out from the wall but quiet and comfy. We had onsen spa here and that was interesting time. This was an ok place to stay in Kyoto that was cheap and pretty clean with a strong shower, reasonable price and friendly staffs.

I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is very near to Gojo subway station. Kyoto station is at a walkable distance. The room I got had a good bed, desk and chair. The bathroom was clean, with toiletaries. Breakfast was nice - a mix of japanese and western foods. The staffs were polite, spoke good English and helpful.

We booked a renovated triple room (only one available at the time of booking) for my wife and I and our daughter. As expected in Japan the room was small but the fact that the hotel had squeezed a fold away bed into a twin room meant that there was no room for our luggage. The room did not have...

Be aware that this hotel does not offer services like taking your luggage to your room and collecting and returning laundry to your room. The breakfast was reasonably ordinary, but the staff were delightful. Not in the best location for walking to places, and the on site restaurant is not open for dinner. However you are a $10 cab ride...

This hotel is a reasonable bet when in Kyoto. The location is not in the heart of it all but at the same time we could walk to the Gion area within 15 minutes and there was a subway 2 mins away from the hotel. The area around the hotel is pretty dead but as I said you can walk...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
