The rooms are small but overall the hotel was great. 10 min taxi cab from Kyoto station. We taxied everywhere and it was about 10-20 min. The staff knew limited English but was always accommodating and helpful.

Clean and comfortable hotel with the benefits of an onsen too. The location was great with a station a couple minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast option was pretty decent and the staff were super friendly, however the rooms are quite small.

Aranvert Hotel represents everything you could require to enjoy a few days to explore Kyoto. Just one stop from Kyoto station, Gojo station or stop K10, is a mere 500 metre walk to the hotel. Check-in was efficient, rooms quiet western beds with private ensuite available. 20 minute walk to Teramachi Street, Gion and a few odd shrines. Local buses...

Walking through a long foyer with sparkling marble stones, the receptionist greeted me very politely and the other greeted me with a big smile. Love the hospitality. I came about 30 minute earlier than the check-in time, but they allows me to have earlier check-in ( No strict rule , Good!). Mcdonald and a few Japanese franchises are along the...

Good location, near to subway and only one stop away from the shopping district. Top floor also has a automated laundrette, which is a godsend for travellers that need clean clothes. Only let down by a bland breakfast selection. But still pretty good.

If you're looking for up-market glamour, or baseline economy this hotel is neither. It's a decent, mid-range hotel with friendly, courteous staff. Breakfast was incldued with our booking, and it was actually pretty decent. If you arrive early you can get a table to yourself in the main resturant. We visited during peak bloosom season so the hotel was brimming,...

Traveled as a couple. Rooms are super super tiny so that we could not lay our suitcases on the ground. They charge ¥1700 for breakfast (7:30-9:30) - we went to have breakfast at 08:30 and the whole buffet was empty. They were not even refilling!!! I asked them that everything is empty and there is nothing to eat - but...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
