Looking for good yet affordable accommodations in the popular cities of Japan can be challenging.
So when I was planning the first family vacation to Osaka, I was looking for a hotel that was part of an international chain, near the train station and yet not hurtful on the wallet. I would say Aloft fit the bill!
Part of the Marriot Bonvoy group, this nifty hotel provides decent sized rooms with complete toiletries which they top up each day. The rooms aren’t huge but enough for a queen bed, sofa and table. The best part was the separate shower and toilet, which in the open bath area afforded the privacy. It also has a restaurant, bar and gym, and we had free coffee even without buying the breakfast.
Location wise, it’s about 8-10 minutes underground to the nearest station, with access just outside the hotel, and another 3 minutes to the massive Osaka station complex, where you can catch the AirPort Express trains and buses, trains to USJ and neighboring towns like Nara or Kobe.
Service was excellent and English speaking so you won’t have any trouble. They were also very nice to help me make reservations at restaurants. Even taxis stop just outside the hotel for early airport goers.
The only negative is that the rooms face the main road, which has sound of traffic at night. We were ok but probably not for light sleepers as the sound proofing was not sufficient.
For the price, huge value for money!
Top tip: explore the eateries underground on the way to the train station!

This was the first time my family and I have stayed at an Aloft hotel. The Aloft Osaka was in a great location, positioned near the river and between entrances to two subway lines. Upon our check in, we did have a couple of issues - I believe we had originally been checked in under the wrong booking name, and when we went to the room assigned to us, discovered that it was already occupied. After quickly closing the door and promptly returning to the front desk, we were assigned a different room. When we got to our newly assigned room, unfortunately it wasn’t the room type we had booked (it was two twin beds rather than a queen and sofa bed). So, back to the front desk and after chatting with Roberto, he got all the issues sorted out and sent us to the correct room for our stay. He also provided an excellent sushi restaurant recommendation, which we enjoyed on two separate nights. Our reservation included free coffee from the lobby each day and welcome drinks. We enjoyed those in the lobby bar which had a pool table and had a great atmosphere at the end of a busy sightseeing day. The hotel also has laundry services for guests that can be booked at the front desk. My husband loves having clean laundry during a long vacation and took advantage of this service. All in all, the Aloft was a good comfortable and quiet stay. The staff, particularly Roberto, were friendly and helpful. English was a bit challenging, but that should not be expected in Japan but rather reliance on translation tools to try and communicate. I would stay at another Aloft when travelling elsewhere.

Hotel is located 10 mins walk from Osaka Main Train station and is just next to main road , so ask for a room that is away from the street if you are a light sleeper.
Check in is rather fast though there is no dedicated check in counter for Elite members and everyone I came across to speak very good English. The room is very spacious for Japan and layout is just like another Aloft in Tokyo which I really like . The only issue is that if you are traveling for work there is no proper work desk.
Choice of breakfast is limited but if it is just for a short stay , this is acceptable. There is also self service laundry at the hotel but 2 washing and 2 drying machines which need booking in advance .
Overall the stay is very pleasant as it is close to shopping area and several small streets of restaurants

we stay at Aloft Dojima in late September for 5 nights, the room were spacious, separate shower and bathroom. If you have time, book the coin laundry in the hotel to do your own laundry.
Few min walk higobashi station which connect train to dotoburi and shinsekai. We didn’t know there was an underground walkway connect to Osaka station until the very last day Roberto share with us.
Good recommendation from Roberto where to while we are in Osaka.
Some staff are very weak in English. One of the young Japanese has difficulty to explain to me how to get around Osaka.
Overall, we had a restful stay in Aloft Osaka

The room we got was large enough and the beds were comfortable. Check in was quick with its efficient front desk personnel. The hotel’s location allows one to walk to several eating places so getting something to fill an empty stomach is quite easy. There’s a entrance to the train station just a few meters from the front door of the hotel. The toilet is separate from the bathroom so “traffic” does not happen when you and your SO do your morning “rituals”. We tried their breakfast buffet once during our one-week stay. No great stories to tell here after one had done breakfast buffets in hotels in Manila. So this is not the hotel’s strong suit as far as I’m concerned. The corridor to our room was a bit dimly lit. For the missus, this was a negative. We normally do not have our room cleared daily during our stay in other hotels. We did request that our room not be cleared after our first night because of travel-fatigue and we know our bags are all over the place. The hotel sent us a reminder that they would “recommend” that the room be cleaned and cleared to maintain the hotel’s standard for cleanliness and safety. Ok then. The daily delivery of two small bottles of water was likewise appreciated although we had to augment this tiny supply with two big bottles of water from a Family Mart conveniently located just across the hotel. Also, the front desk helped us get a taxi for our Shinkansen ride for Tokyo.

I was in Osaka for 6 nights, and, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Great, comfortable room on the 8th floor with a cool and sleek interior design. I was in the back, (view of an apartment building); but, it was way quieter. Rooms facing the main street, (Yotsubashi-suji), will get traffic noise.
The lobby/restaurant staff were nice and welcoming. Breakfast had a fair amount of options, though, more fresh fruit might've been nicer.
The hotel is perfectly situated. Go out the front door, turn right, cross the bridge, and another right brings you to Watanabebashi station. (Once you're underground, there's a passageway to Higobashi station).
Osaka/Umeda stations are in the opposite direction. There's an entrance into the underground a few feet from the hotel, and, it'll pass numerous shops/eateries. The walk takes 10-15 minutes, it's all flat until you reach the stations.
FYI: I downloaded the "Suica" transit card into my iPhone. It's reloadable, beats messing with the ticket machines, and you can use it in Kyoto and Tokyo.
Lastly, there's a good burger place (Craft Beer Co?) close to the hotel. Few doors further is a good tonkatsu joint--small, not fancy, but good comfort food. Both eateries have helpful staff and English-language menus.

We really liked the room layout of this hotel. The divider between the toilet/shower area and the bed really helped block any light from the toilet area when either of us was sleeping. The sound proofing was really good, could hardly hear the busy road outside. The bed itself was very comfy and large. We really liked having the sofa as an alternative place to sit rather than just the bed. The shower had really good pressure. The bar is really nice, we had a couple of drinks there during our stay. Everywhere in the hotel was really clean and we liked that only hotel guests can use the lift, made us feel very safe and secure. The laundry facility was really helpful for us as we were in Japan for just under 2 weeks and had clothes to wash during our trip. There are only 2 washer drier machines for the entire hotel so you have to book in advance. Our main regret was just not staying in Osaka for longer so we could enjoy the hotel for a bit longer!

Great location! Lots of local dining options nearby. Not too touristy but it's still a close 10 minute walk to Osaka Station and other shopping areas. Convenience store is right across from the hotel. The rooms were all very clean and quiet despite facing the large road outside. Would definitely recommend to stay again!
I stayed on a free night certificate as Marriott gold member and was proactively offered a 2pm checkout which was much appreciated.

My kids cannot be happier with this suite. It has 2 TVs, 2 automatic toilets (that open the toilet cover when someone open the door), spacious and able to watch the sports cars passing the hotel from the window. It can be noisy though as there are still revving up past midnight on Saturday. We find it inconvenient that there is no towel or clothes hanger in the bathroom. Having coin laundry with allocated timeslots is a plus. Breakfast is alright apart from pastries that are a bit hard & dry. There is a taxi stand and bus stop right at the hotel's doorstep.

The room was large, and I felt like it was a spacious space for a Japanese person, perhaps designed for foreigners.
The key is that the bath and toilet are separated! The suite had a bath with a tub, but the loft twin had no tub. If it's just a couple or friends, I think about the size of a loft twin is enough.
I was with an infant, but I don't know about the service, especially since I didn't make any requests to the hotel (cribs, diaper trash, etc.). However, I was relieved that the restaurant was also friendly.
The restaurant on the ground floor was also delicious.
You can walk from Osaka Station, and I think it is convenient because there is a station nearby.
