We spent one night at this hotel, as we had an appointment close to Shin-Osaka station. The location is not really close to anything, but there is a free shuttle bus outside the Central exit of Shin-Osaka station that goes back and forth from the...More
I booked this hotel because of it's proximity to Shin-osaka station and found that it was an easy flat walk with luggage - about 12 minutes. The hotel does provide a free shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes but I couldn't work out where...More
It was my first visit to Japan and I chose this hotel as it was central, not far from Shin Osaka station which is a main connection for travelling in different directions. It was easy to get to from the Kansai Airport. There is a...More
A huge beautiful palace coated in gold in many parts. The gardens are splendid. The walls and moat impressive and vast. You won't regret your visit to Osaka Palace. There is a train to take you around.
I can't recommend this hotel high enough. We had a twin room with very good wifi, the room was very clean and pleasantly larger than others we had encountered in Japan. The microwave on 12th floor was very handy, and the shuttle bus to the...More

You can certainly visit Kyoto on a day trip in that its easy to travel from Osaka to Kyoto (plenty of trains) but whether you could actually see an awful lot in Kyoto in a day is in my opinion questionable.

If you arrive by shinkansen at Shin Osaka Station, take the central exit and turn right towards the NORTH exit of the station. Walk about 30-40 metres. You will see an escalator going down. Take that down one level. turn immediately right and you will see stairs going down on right and elevator on left. You can take either. Go down to street level.
At street level turn LEFT. Walk towards the bridge. the shuttle bus stop is sign posted. It is directly under the bridge beside a very large bicycle parking area. After the bus stop are taxis.
It is a very convenient service once you can find the stop.
I cannot post a link to the directions on this blog; so I suggest you search for Osaka Garden Palace Hotel Shuttle access & you should get useful information with photo directions.
