This was our first stop in our honeymoon. They upgraded our room, which was amazing. We loved the decor and hospitality of the staff. My husband really loved the breakfast. The gym was simple, but efficient for our needs. The rooftop was pretty. The location was convenient to get to various tourist attractions.
We stayed for 3 nights at this contemporary hotel, which is in Chow Kit and centrally located in the city of Kuala Lumpur. As Marriott Bonvoy members we were upgraded to a studio room on the 18th floor. It was a light, airy room in a contemporary style, including a sofa and desk. We found the room both comfortable and convenient, and were well looked after by our helpful and considerate room attendant Sabbir, who assisted us with extra water daily as I was on medication. We also enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant, with omelette cooked to order and some luscious fruit. All in all would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a central location - it was easy to walk around the area in the evening and find some wonderful food outlets and bars. The hotel’s own restaurant also offers grill food on Friday and Saturday evenings, but is closed on other days, but it is not difficult to walk out to various food outlets.…
We stayed in the Stripes hotel for five nights in February 2023. Overall, given the relatively low price, the Stripes appears like a reasonable choice with which you cannot do much wrong. Yet it is also unlikely a hotel to wow you - I would say it is a solid 4-star hotel. On a positive note: the bed was comfortable, the location is good (although there are better), the hotel interiors look nice and modern, and the pool (bar) is a great place to swim and overview the skyline. On a negative note: many interiors are not in great shape and appear a little worn out already, service is not always up to standards, the water in the room was not always really warm, and the breakfast is weak. To be more precise regarding the breakfast: The buffet is very limited overall, and the buffet does not vary from day to day in any way, so basically we ended up having the same 2-3 preferred options for breakfast for almost a week. Out of the dozen or so 4/5-star hotels I stayed at in Malaysia, this was probably the weakest breakfast I experienced. Also, I do not understand why the outside seating area of the breakfast restaurant appears so neglected by the hotel when eating outside can be wonderful in the morning. You can have breakfast outside, and every day during our stay, some people chose to do so. Yet there are just 3-4 tables outside despite space for a lot more tables, and the seating area looks neglected altogether. Finally, you have to actively ask the staff if you want to sit outside so you get cutlery there, etc. Finally, I was underwhelmed by the fact that the hotel did not notice the birthday of one of us in any way. Similarly, we had to ask for our welcome gift that was comprised in our booking several times, only to receive it on the last day. This gift was merely some cookies from the breakfast, so again really underwhelming.…
I asked for a connecting room and as my booking was deluxe room, i need to upgrade to executive deluxe at additional of RM150 per night. Total RM500++ per night. But they did not mentioned the room has no view!!! Its basically just facing bricks!! I understand that its part of the design , but at least should have informed me 1st that I WILL BE FACING BRICKS!!! If they inform, i would not be upgrading my room to a BRICK WALL VIEW.
Good location near the Petronas towers and KL tower. Rooms good size with safe, toiletries, robe very comfy bed and quiet. We had a nice view. Lovely touch of complimentary snacks and drinks on roof top bar 5-7. Think because we were on our honeymoon.,Snacks were calamari and chips and next day onion rings and Chinese dumplings (pastry). Drinks were beer, wine and soft drinks. Breakfast was fine but would have liked more cut up fruit eg pineapple. (Hence not 5*’s). Shame the restaurant was only open at weekends as has good reviews but there are loads of places very close. Lovely roof top bar with excellent view. We attempted to walk to places but KL is not a friendly pedestrian city. However public transport is exceptional cheap ie 3 ringetts for a journey which is about 60p! There are lots of ways to travel, monorail, underground and taxi. GRAB taxis also extremely cheap but need hotel to order unless have app. We went as part of a package to this hotel so not sure of cost but I would imagine it is very good value for money for location and standard.…
We stayed in Stripes for 5 nights but wished we had stayed for longer. The breakfast was good as was the lunch. The service was excellent and the rooms were modern and spacious with the best hotel walk in shower we have ever had. Location was good with some high/higher end eating places near by and the Petronas Towers and Suria KLCC shopping centre just over a 15 minute walk away. We have been to KL three times and will definitely be going back to Stripes. Would highly recommend.
We arrived after a long flight in the morning and were allowed to check in early (for a fee) . We had a club room with free soft drinks from the minibar which was great. The room was fine for our needs but we were not keen on the sink being outside the bathroom. The pool is on the roof which was great for a dip after a day sight seeing and towels are provided. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice. The reception staff were very helpful. A lovely touch was the cake brought to the room for my husbands birthday. The hotel is on a side street and we heard no noise. Great stay.
This was advertised on b.com as a 5 star Hotel...maybe a 3 at most...because we expected 1st class we noticed all the faults immediately..scratches on table tops, stains and peeling on wallaper, and no fresh air as the windows don't open. Air con in rooms is unfathomable, so much so that we had to ask at the desk to change it from 24° to 20°..they did actually change it to 22 °...after being out all day we came back to enjoy a drink at the rooftop pool bar...well!!! A marguarita with no tequila and a jack Daniels and coke that was all coke...OK...let's try a beer..two choices, carlsberg or stout (laughing face)...in this wonderful, cosmo city there are so many hotels to choose from..wish I'd picked another. Oh, also, can't get anyone on the phone, even when given a call back option and from room to operator you are studiously ignored...and to top it all off there are no movie channels on TV...so many better hotels to choose from...Good luck…
We really enjoyed our time at The Stripes, KL. It has a great rooftop bar, that’s also a good outdoor work space. The views, particularly at sunset, are just lovely and the staff are first rate. There was a very good buffet breakfast available each morning in the restaurant situated just off the lobby. The surrounding neighborhood is really cool, with loads of outstanding restaurants and coffee houses. Walking to a large mall with a giant grocery store is about 15 minutes, and walking to the KLCC ( Petronas Towers) is circa 20 minutes. This is hotel is a solid choice in KL!
Stayed here for 4 nights as a solo traveller. Lovely hotel, with friendly staff. I felt very safe. The location is good with a mixture of bars and restaurants offering different cuisines I preferred the local food markets and cafes which were all within walking distance. Had a deluxe king room which was more than enough for my needs. The view wasn't a view as such part of it was obscured by a brick wall, but I didn't intend to sit in my hotel room. Thank goodness the room comes fully equipped with toiletries incl toothbrush and toothpaste as my luggage was delayed and didn't arrive till the next day. Had a leak in the ceiling of the gym but was still able to use it. It's got the standard equipment you'd expect and the view is a bit better. I was celebrating a milestone birthday and I arrived back to my room to a delicious cake and card from the hotel which was so lovely. Breakfast was OK, a lot of the dishes were not that warm and by the time I would sit down to eat food was cold. The taste of them was not bad but when you eat something cold that is meant to be hot it's hard to rate it. So I would usually have an omelette and toast as my hot food. The rooftop bar and pool are not to be missed. I would go for a swim in the morning and see the sunrise. Went in the evening sometimes and it was never packed although all the sun loungers would be taken It was about a 15-20 min walk to Petronas towers. There is an LRT station nearby (can't remember the name). I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel…
