Redeemed my World of Hyatt points for a 3D2N stay in KL with thought of giving it a try instead of GH @ KLCC for my family vacation traveling with children. Based on the room photos on hotel website/Tripadvisor, I was hoping that the twin beds would be at least queen size to fit my family of 2 adults and 2 children. I won the bet ! The twin room comes with 2 queen size beds.

Despite having direct overhead bridge access to Bangsar LRT station, the hotel location is not something great to shout about. The surrounding of the hotel is a mid/low class residential area, not really safe for walking alone at night. The driveway to hotel car park was extremely odd, the driving direction was against the left-hand driving direction in Malaysia...this was confusing. The turning corners were rather narrow too. Car park is not complimentary for hotel guest, it is RM5/exit with verification from hotel lobby.

The hotel lobby is located on the top floor (41st floor) of the building while guess rooms are located from 35th to 40th floor. From car park, you literally need to go for 3 different lift changes before you can get to your room. Check in was smooth greeted by friendly hotel staffs. Room was spacious, clean and new. Bathroom was huge with separate rain shower (no bathtub) and toilet. I like the hotel concept of having a living room at each floor with beverage making corner, i.e. coffee machine which could prepare cappuccino, latte, espresso, brew coffee, tea bags and slide lemon for making lemon tea. The downside is you have to carry your drinks all the way back to your room with potential risk of spillage along the way returning to your room.

The hotel is doing great in terms of sustainability. Instead of providing bottled drinking water in the room, they provide reversed osmosis (filtered) drinking water in sealed glass bottles. The view from my room was breathtaking. The hotel swimming pool, though quite small, still a good place for relaxation. It has a well equipped gym as well.

The hotel provides free shuttle service to Mid Valley / The Gardens shopping mall for hotel guests. I arranged with concierge for the shuttle service, a private car sent us to the mall and picked up from the mall at the agreed time. This was really a service beyond expectation, will definitely return again in future.

Location: Although the hotel named Alila “Bangsar” but it is located in Blackfield of Kuala Lumpur. It is close to a metro station but better take Grab to the hotel. There is nothing around the hotel, not even a convenience store. The hotel offer shuttle service to Sentra Station, guest only need to request it 30 mins ahead, it takes less than 10 mins to Sentra Station when there is no traffic.

Room: The lobby of the hotel is on 41st floor while hotel rooms are from 37 - 40th, other floors are for residence stay which has a separate lobby on the ground floor. The view from the room is excellent, the interior design and quality of the furnitures are in simplicity modern style. There is no bathtub, only shower but the water pressure are good, it provides all toiletries. It is a very comfortable room indeed.

Hotel facility: There is a swimming pool and poolside bar on the lobby floor. Breakfast is also located on the lobby floor but we didn’t try. There is another restaurant on ground floor and a snack corner where you can purchase some snacks, drinks and necessities. We went lunch at the ground floor restaurant, the food are nice, above average prices compare with other restaurants in the city.

One nice touch from the hotel is that it has a coffee/ tea corner on every hotel room floor, where you can make yourself a cup of coffee or ice tea. The room also has its own tea bag/ coffee provided.

One last thing is that I wish the hotel has spa/ massage facility.

Services: Excellent service! Staffs are very nice, always smile and willing to help. They explain all facilities to us when we check-in. The concierge is on ground floor while lobby is on 41st. However, you can leave your luggage on 41st when you check out if you would like to store it, and then they will bring it to the ground floor, so that you can pick it up on ground floor when you return to the hotel.

Overall the hotel room, facility and services are great! But only the location is not really convenience for tourist. I would recommend this hotel perhaps for business trip, for tourists who would like to explore the city and travel around, Alila may not be the best choice.

It was located in Brickfields whereby u can walk down to the streets to look for Indian food and the greatest part it's the hotel linked to Bangsar LRT Station so u can go anywhere. They didn't served breakfast in buffet line but they servedala carte in botanica & co restaurant and I love it because it generous portion. You need to chg 2x lift in order to reach your room. First is the parking lift to lobby > Lobby to reception at 41st flr > Recep to rooms lift (3 lifts located differently). And parking charges is per entry flat RM5 validate at reception before leaving the parking.

Love at the first sight on their rooms, it was stylist interior, warm lights, big windows so it's bright with a side long sofa. Like the toilet too haha. They have a hair dryer, toothbrush set, cotton pad, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. And their bed is super comfortable. Just a bit confused with their light switches bcoz too many. Need some improvement on their TV programmes. Very limited Astro Channels and it is always in bad line, if you switch to net TV whereby it is video downloaded from Internet or YouTube whereby not interesting at all if only you are fans of some travel bloggers or Tasty.

Their rooms either facing Brickfields or Bangsar and KL Sentral for Junior Suite Rooms.

There is a common area in every floor whereby there is a good coffee machine and a water dispenser. You can have it anytime.

The pool is very insta worthy unfortunately not a good time for us because they have event going on.

A great thumbs up to Anson and Adam who gave us a warm welcome and excellent service. On behalf of my friend thanks for the surprise on her bday.

Overall, it's worth coming back again and again because of affordability, comfortable and clean room, 5stars service and the pool. Also the meals from botanica & co (breakfast and in room dining).

Kudos Alila Bangsar!

The hotel is located in a relatively rural environment, not typical urban Hyatt location in a city like KL. Nothing interesting within walking distance. I was kindly upgraded to a suite. The air conditioning was extremely loud. There’s only one sink in the bathroom for this suite and it has a drainage problem. Water buildup whenever the sink was used. Hygene of the pool was not kept. Anybody could jump in in street cloth without being asked to take a rinse.

Right in the heart of Bangsar is this gem of hotel. A relatively new addition to the Hyatt portfolio, Alila Bangsar boasts unrivaled views over the area. I had the pleasure of staying there in mid-March, and enjoyed an amazing stay in the Bangsar Suite.

At check-in, I was taken care of by Ted. I was able to wait comfortably on a couch overlooking the district below.

When I reached the room, I was greeted by a thoughtful handwritten note by Anukaa Anne, the Head Host. Every detail in the room was thoughtfully crafted—from the spacious, minimal design, to the conveniently located power outlets and convenient seating. I especially appreciated the focus on sustainability. There were no single-use water bottles; instead, there were multiple refillable glass carafes and nice drinking glasses. The shower amenities were all in large, reusable pumps. And there is a coffee machine and snacks near the elevators for everyone to use. It was refreshing to find a hotel that is this forward thinking.

The hotel facilities are very tastefully done, and the pool is surrounded by comfortable, reclined seating.

I only wish I could have stayed longer at Alila Bangsar. It was a fantastic first experience for me at this brand of Hyatt. I look forward to a future stay here—hopefully very soon.

3 of us booked the deluxe balcony room which comes with a very comfy big king size bed suitable for 3 person, a spacious room and very clean bathroom with basic toiletries provided. However, the balcony was not covered on the top, hence we couldn’t fully utilise it due to the heavy rain.
The pool was quite small and it’s purpose is definitely for taking pictures, not swimming laps😂
The scenery at the pool bar is very nice, check out the hashtags #alilabangsar on IG and you will get what I mean.
Entier and botanical+co is in the same building, so you can have a romantic dinner on your first night and a delicious brunch in the next morning. Super convenient and great choice for a 2D1N staycation.
Or you can go across the road at the front of the hotel and have drinks at Coley / brunch at Lisette’s / dinner at Huck’s Cafe.
It is also connected to Bangsar LRT station from the inside.
Really great accommodation choice!
Highly recommended👍🏻

I started staying at the Alila on my short visits to KL starting late 2019. I returned again in August 2020 and ended up staying for 6 weeks and worked from here when KL started re-opening during the pandemic.

When the hotel front desk realized that I had been staying for awhile, they put me in touch with the reservations team to discuss long-stay rates. I wish I had known earlier about this as it this help with saving a bit without the breakfast and with the special rates for long term stay.

Things to like about the Alila: great desk and lighting for work from home; very stable and fast internet connection; and large and comfortable room. The pool is also beautiful but there was just too many people swimming during the pandemic to make it comfortable. The gym is nice with the necessary equipment in place and practically empty especially in the mornings. Added plus is that the Entier restaurant is just by the lobby of Alila and as a guest there are discounts and in the pandemic, there are set lunches and dinners for all.

While most think that the location in Brickfields is inconvenient, I actually found the location of the Alila great as it's just a few minutes drive or Grab to places like Bangsar Village and Telawi. There is also a row of hip restaurants, cafes and bars across the pedestrian bridge and of course Bangsar LRT.

The downside: the need to take two elevators up and down everytime you need to leave or return to the place or to pick up food delivery, as Alila shares the same building as EST residential service apartments. The other downside is that the mini fridge is barely cold. Another would be that there is no microwave in the room - after weeks of staying, eating out or food delivered can get old.

Dear banantan04, Thank you for sharing this great review. Delighted to know that you had the opportunity to explore Brickfields and Bangsar. You are absolutely correct, there are hidden treasures of small cafes and bars in the vicinity. For those who loves the malls, the LRT is a great way to move around from KL Sental Mall, Midvalley, Garden Mall and even all the way to KLCC and Pavillion. I hear you on the elevators, however, it is necessary to protect the privacy of our guests in a shared building and we feel it is important despite the slight inconvenience. Stay safe and see you soon. Kind regards, Nancy Cheah, General Manager

We have stayed here many times so much so we have forced ourselves to stay in other hotels recently just to change it up! Because overall it’s a decent place for one nighters just to get away from home! The positives are: Botanica is downstairs so food is satisfactory. Location is in Bangsar/Sentral/Brickfields so it’s a good middle ground to commute around. The view is ok, and room condition really depends on your luck. Some stays the rooms look battered and others they are clean. The rugs in the room often go missing, the mini fridge doesn’t work in every stay, toothbrushes and toiletries are often incomplete and have to be requested. Shower gel and shampoo is dispensed so maybe bring your own, i don’t think this is sanitary. Rooms don’t really seem sanitised, I mean there’s hand smudges in a lot of places. The floor sometimes can feel grainy when the rooms are rushed and not thoroughly vacuumed. Calling for service is a hit and miss. Sometimes they are quick, sometimes they straight up forget your request. In room dining sometimes can be a wait and food may arrive cold. Cutlery is always mismatched some even have Shell Petrol Station branding on them? Why and how! I wouldn’t drink the water in the bottles as they are often just refilled reused ikea bottles. TV channels are the usual limited selection. Staff members and service can be a hit and miss, sometimes they are courteous and most the time they seem uninterested or unbothered. Parking is weird, the lanes are in the wrong direction and it is tight. If you have a big car please be cautious. Don’t think it’s safe to park outside overnight considering the neighbourhood and you will get fined. The lift system is complicated and troublesome and annoying, not a big deal for one nighters and if you don’t leave the room much. Overall if you are out and about and need a place to crash for the night and you got a good rate and you really just don’t care then hey go for it. If you are travelling overseas or anywhere it’s close to KL Sentral and it’s a good location to commute around klang valley whether you are driving or ride sharing.

Why the angry title? Alila, this is really not your best.

Second stay for me, and first for him. We choose this as we both love the interior and of course not to mention one of the most instagrammable hotel pool in KL. My first stay was decent, but this second one...

It could be better if we were checked in a more professional attitude knowing this is Alila, not a random normal hotel. Understand some hotels has programs with interns in hospitality, but it's weird when it wasn't escort by at least one permanent staff there. There were unprofessional words here and there, but it's still acceptable - however time dragged without even a welcome drink.

The room, we were upgraded to Balcony Room. BUT, the room seems to be cover with dust and few bugs. Unsure if it's been sometime it has not been occupied, but it's definitely dusty as there's a difference in terms of air quality when we walk in. Also, the A/C isn't working perfectly as well. I don't recall the room being warm even if it's at the lowest temp control in the room which is 20c. We call for maintenance guy to come around 1am which was great knowing that help is around 24/7. Regardless, this shouldn't be happening in Alila group of hotels. All rooms should be inspect prior to check in.

Lastly, the breakfast. No doubt there aren't complimentary breakfast at the time of booking, and we choice to have breakfast in bed. So when the operator ask if you want to have juice or coffee, we would have expect it's included in the set. It was not. We were being charged for each juice and coffee (which btw can be easily brew in living room), I found it weird when no pastries were send together since the first time I stayed here there were pastries, complimentary juices and coffee at the restaurant (imagine if we order more from the restaurant - lol). I would say this isn't acceptable under the service line, and it just makes no sense.

As a hotel reviewer over the last 10 years+, I've stayed with many hotels and reviewed a good bunch of hotels. Sure, I think the reply will be only a standard one from the management or yourself as the GM, regardless of which hope this review can be a good baseline to improve and maintain the hotel standards. As I quoted, this is Alila. Not some normal lousy hotels. You may contact us personally if you want to for further clarification of what happened which is clear enough from the above and IG.

Wood and greens can be seen throughout this eco-friendly hotel. toiletries are found in wooden containers to avoid plastics, room size is comfortably large, tastefully designed and decorated. Free shuttle to the nearby malls was very useful. The hotel is also next to the Bangsar LRT station which connects you to the rest of the city. the restaurant at the ground floor is similarly decorated with menu that is interestingly curated and wait staff friendly and efficient. can't ask for more. been back second time and nothing disappoints. there is also juice in the morning with small bites for free if you don't want a regular breakfast. iced/ hot tea available through out the day and a coffee machine with fresh beans grounded on every floor. spectacular view from the pool and bar, gym was adequately equipped. the air conditioner was a bit dodgy, went off by itself in the middle of the night and a little noisy bu tother than that, a perfect stay.
