Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
This hotel was formally a Tune Hotel, which is part of Air Asia. It has now rebranded as the Chow Kit. We had a great time at this hotel for four nights. Close to the monorail station which can take you to other connection points so that you can catch trains all over KL. It was only two stops from Bukit Bintang which is kind of the nightlife area with tons of restaurants, upmarket and even standard level shopping malls.
Check in staff were very friendly and efficient, as were the bar and restaurant staff. This hotel exudes a kind of quaint atmosphere, but we loved it and would not hesitate to stay there again. It was only about a 20 minute walk to Chinatown and Petaling Jaya markets also.

We booked the king den for a night as staycation, and was so pleasant with how beautiful the hotel and the room looks. Every minor details within the room from the ceiling to the flooring is really nice, we really like the rusty nostalgic look very much.
The reception staff are very friendly and quick with our check in, it only took a few minutes and we are off to our room. The room is pretty cozy, the bed are pillows are super comfortable, there's a big TV on the wall but we did not use it. There's a small fridge and safe as well, with simple clothes hanging area. Bottled water is provided and refillable but no kettle for hot water or tea or coffee was given. We did however had a small issue with the piece of wood at the end of the bed, because it was kinda tall, we keep hitting our knees and legs on it while climbing on and off the bed.
The bathroom was also very aesthetically pleasing, love the tiles design and the metallic handles, they compliment each other perfectly. There's no full shower screen, so the whole space would get wet after you shower. Besides shower wash, shampoo and hand wash, no other amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, cup, cottons are provided, which is a little inconvenient. Towels are very big and fluffy, which we definitely enjoyed.
The kitchen and bar downstairs have quite a unique menu with lots of alcohol drinks option as well. We got to enjoy our dinner there during our stay, which is pretty good. The service staff are friendly and attentive, though the food took a while to be served as it was quite crowded. Overall food quality was good, but I do notice that the menu was not as extensive as before, hopefully there would be more options in the future.
Hotel guests do get a flat rate parking at the side of the hotel, which is quite okay and convenient. There's train station within walking distance as well. Convenient stores and malls are not far at all and there are quite a number of restaurants and eateries nearby too, which makes the location of the hotel good.
We did enjoy our stay very much, thanks to all the staff who are very nice and professional, definitely love the ambiance and overall feel of the place very much, which is comfortable and relaxing. It was a nice staycation, and would possibly visit again if there are more good deals in the future.

From the moment we booked, our experience was incredible. The website was easy to use under a direct booking. 24 hours later I did find a booking on another site for less. After sending this to the Chow Kit team, I was surprised that within 12 hours the honoured the commitment to match the price and give an additional 10% off.
We booked a King Den room. Reception met us and were efficient with check in. We made the mistake of using Touch and Go in the parking lot next door, but it was quickly rectified so that we would get the hotel guest rate.
Our room was quiet, well designed, and had a very comfortable bed. I would like to see an additional hook behind the door to hang a towel or nightgown. The botanical amenities were fantastic (though the bottles are tough to read to determine what is in them with dark on dark lettering). I loved that there were accessible electrical plugs next to each side of the bed, and an ample night table. The towels were lush and the bed linens soft. Be sure to ask for a softer pillow at the front desk if you prefer a lower pillow.
The hotel boasts an environmentally friendly policy, with linens changed every three days and reusable bottles for water fill up. Morning breakfast includes fruit and a delicious pastry hung on your door. I loved the pain au chocolat and the croissant!
The lobby has a cool 1920s vibe meets modern Manhattan. Touches of Asian influence also abound. The bar has a nightly happy hour with exceptional cocktails. We loved the dried fruit that complemented our drinks. We had three different bartenders and each of them made the exact same drink the exact same way. Overall consistency was impressive. The lighting in the dining and bar area is subtle and sexy.
While we did not eat dinner in the restaurant, we did enjoy breakfast twice. In both instances the food did not disappoint, though I would say that the delivery time on the Eggs Benedict did exceed 20 minutes - which had my partner finishing his scrambled eggs long before my breakfast arrived (and mine also arrived after the Nasi Lemak was served to a table that arrived after us). Having said that, the lovely tea pots, the heft of the cutlery, and the little attention to details with gorgeous glassware show that small details matter.
Most impressive to us was the staff. Caroline King, COO, was quick to clear tables, pick up glassware, deliver food and greet guests. She led by example and was engaging to chat to about the property. Special thanks to Rachel, Bob and Amir who all made our stay exceptional. This is our new go to place in KL!

My partner and I stayed at The Chow Kit the last weekend in September and we realy enjoyed our stay despite a few hiccups. Firstly, the property is beautiful- a great 1950's art deco/modernism feel with great modern additions. All architecture, furnishings and interiors are well thought out, carefully designed and very so nice to experience. You immedietly feel comfortable both in your room and public areas. In the room the beds are super comfy, bathroom was super easy to use and toiletries by Jeanie's were great. Restaurant has a great menu, fair prices and good drinks. The staff were super friendly, approachable and down to earth. A few negatives- I dont know what property management software system they use but it needs some work- checking in and out was overly complicated and lengthy. During Covid times most hotels are cutting back on check in times but here it seemed to be lengthened. We booked the F&B Room Credit Deal but when we checked out it didnt show on the bill and the staff didnt seem to be able to explain our overly complicated bill or why our Package didnt show up on it. It really was far too complicated a bill for a one night stay. The second issue was the tv. My partner and I planned to stream Netflix from our phones and had a movie all picked out but the TV system was also overly complex and cumbersome. I would suggest just giving guests Google Chromecasts on the TVs which is so easy to hookup and instantly watch something. The TV software they had was just too much and too slow. Simpler is better. However overall we had a great stay and will definitely be back again.

All staffs are welcoming, friendly, and helpful to us from enquiries, booking, during stay as well as upon checked in & out. Love the ambience — it's chill and relaxing. Beautiful interiors and aesthetic. The hotel is close to good places to eat. We came by motorcycle because it's easy to commute in KL and they have parking space for it though it's not an actual designated area but it's fine. They have designated parking space for cars with charge of RM15/day.
We stayed at The Towkay Suite for 2 days 1 night. It was a FREE Upgrade promo which was really a great deal. It's best to book direct for this hotel than using travel apps like agoda, trivago, etc because they offer you a lot more than those apps. They even gave complimentary anniversary decoration during our stay. It was lovely. The room was clean and nice. Bed was comfortable — had really a good sleep. Woke up without an ache, sore, or any pains. They only provide basic toiletries such as body wash, shampoo with conditioner and hand wash. So, be sure to bring your own other toiletries like toothbrush and toothpaste. There's no bidet in the bathroom but it has hand shower you can use at shower area.
Wifi in room is high speed. Smart TV in the room has limited ASTRO channels and no Netflix which was quite disappointed because we expect it to have in it since it's a Smart TV. We've tried to cast Netflix from our phones to TV but it was not really working. Sound proof wise between rooms, not so much. We could hear people from next door plugged in their cables to our wall and whenever people going in and out from their rooms but not often so it's okay.
Other than that, all is well. We would recommend people to stay here and we would love to go back.

pretty new hotel, gorgeous rooms, lobby, everything! lov the bottle water system, the creative card holder, the decorater was smart, for rooms with no view they had a frosted window thus it looked more appealing. we also booked a room with view overlooking the street but dont worry not a single noise from the traffic! (i was concerned bout tis coz im a light sleeper). the only compaint i haf would be the cleaning lady, she kinda woke us up from our sleep with her voice in the morning. idk why she only come wen we are in the room like early morning (wen ur still sleeping) or late evening (wen we r back from shopping). usually other hotels, they clean wile we are out of the room. other than tat i lov tis hotel & would visit again!

I stayed here during new years and must say that I had the best hotel stay ever! The hosts as they call their frontoffice staffs were excellent as they were very friendly and helpful. Designed by an american award winning design firm, I was blown away by the design and every details carefully thought off and put together. Food and beverage was great too, had the special nye menu which was of great value and they definitely have a wide range of good cocktails. Located just 5mins grab drive from central bukit bintang or a train ride away, this is hotel ticks off all boxes a traveller will need or couples/friends on staycation.

The stay was indeed a special experience. Staffs were so kind, thoughtful and helpful. Throughout my stay, I was given credits to dine in at the hotel's restaurant (it was a promo) and the food there was quite decent. Their rojak was full of surprises, super delicious. However, their ayam kampung was a little too dry. The stay would also be perfect if the hotel would include toothbrush and toothpaste for guests staying. The Hotel do charge 2 ringgit for a set of toothbrush and toothpaste

Overall, the experience was just okay.
Hoping that they can install a hot water dispenser on the corridor of each floors for the convenience of family with young children.
Cleanliness was good and the service was just moderate.
The price is extremely good because we happen to visit during the period of world health pandemic ,so they decreased the room rate.
But, if it’s during their normal period, I probably would add on more money for a better experience.
Nothing outstanding.
Could be better.
If only they can improve on the overall vibe and service , money is no longer an issue.
Definitely will come back.

We booked this place last minute using one of their website’s promotional offers. A 10 minute drive to the hotel and conveniently located car park make this place very convenient. It is also very close to the monorail and a simple journey to KLCC.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering us additional room amenities as an anniversary celebration. The rooms are simple but well appointed and offer everything that is needed for a small hotel.
The bar staff were very friendly and drinks are well made and reasonably priced, offering all day happy hour to hotel guests. The Malaysian fusion menu is simple but all all the offerings we tried were tasty and good value.
For something a little different which is great value for money, just outside central Kl, I would definitely recommend.

North 24 Parganas District, India31 contributions5 helpful votesWe want to book 1 room for 2 nights from 20.10.2022 to 22.10.2022 but we will reach early by 9 am. Is there any provision of early check in at your hotel without charge? Or may I be given a room where I can stay till my actual check in time?
You can do early check in by 10 AM i guess. You can spend the rest time in their beautiful restaurant . The hotel staff will serve you well. If you don't go for dining, just stay at the couches near the reception, it is very relaxing.
Hi Belle_223,
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, we do have an open space parking lot available. Parking charges are RM3 per hour and for in-house guests there's a flat rate fee of RM15 per day.
Hi Herda
Thank you for your question. The Chow Kit has a yoga pavilion on the rooftop featuring weekly sessions, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7am. To run a session we do need two guests to participate. We don't have a swimming pool but should you wish to work out in a gym - there is Celebrity Fitness at Quill Mall which is chargeable.
Kind wishes
Caroline
