Hotel's Favourite
Fun Fact: Do you know this area, where MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur is situated, is listed as one of the 52 places to visit in 2020 by The New York Times?
So, I decided to book a one night stay here to explore this district.
Upon arrival at KLIA Terminal 2 at 1pm, I took an express train to KL Sentral Station. It is a 15 mins Grab ride which costs RM12 to get to the hotel.
This 99-rooms hotel was opened in Dec 2019. The building is not very visible from far. But as you walk slowly towards the entrance of the hotel, you will immediately feel the Instagrammable vibes. The check in was efficient and fuss-free. A key card is required at the lift in order to gain access to the room. I was accommodated in Room No. 403 (Crashpad - City View) which offered an excellent view of the KL cityscape, with KL Tower in the background.
The minimalistic rooms were designed by Sydney-based design studio, Akin Atelier. I felt cosy and comfortable even though the room is small at 14.5 square metres. The room space is creatively designed, whereby I can place my belongings under the Tatami-style raised platform bed. There is also an electronic safe underneath it. A large full length mirror is available on the bathroom door.
Whilst the majority of my stays in budget properties offered a mediocre showering experience, I found it to be great here. The bath towels are thick and fluffy, and the shower offered great water pressure. I also love their Jeanie’s Botanical bespoke toiletries which elevated the showering experience.
The Wi-Fi connectivity in the room is good. There is limited Cable TV channels, of which Cinemax is offered. If you are feeling bored, tap on the TV remote and switch to YouTube.
I had read reviews of guests who feedback of noise in the room during their stay. Being situated at the roadside, there is an occasional traffic noise, but it did not bother me. Sometimes, having a little ambient noise is better than an eerily quiet room. I am appreciative the hotel took the initiative to offer ear plugs to guests should they feel uncomfortable with the noise.
Chow Kit is a district of Kuala Lumpur, which is not far from the Golden Triangle area and the Petronas Twin Towers. Although it has a reputation for being a red light district, I never felt unsafe roaming here. While it was a short one night stay, I managed to explore Chow Kit Market, the largest wet market in Kuala Lumpur. Nearby, there is a large shopping mall, Quill City, which has retail and dining outlets.
Dining options are quite limited, though I wished I could have the opportunity to explore and discover more eateries during my one night stay here. Although the hotel has its own eatery, I preferred local fare. I enjoyed the delicious Chilli Pan Mee at Restoran Kin Kin. Another hidden gem is Little Rara Chow Kit, located opposite the hotel. They serve really yummy Thai cuisine! Alternatively, you can head to the restaurant located next door, in The Chow Kit Hotel. This is the sister property of MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur, both which are managed by the Ormond Group.
Travelling to the various parts of Kuala Lumpur city is convenient, apart from the heavy traffic during the evening. Getting to places like Petaling Street, Pudu and Bukit Bintang from the hotel costs an average RM9 during the off-peak periods.
To sum it up, MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur is a designer social hotel targeted at millennials who enjoy staying in a fun and quirky place. This is a smart hotel for those with a small budget.
Stay Tips:
☞ Get a room with a view of the KL Tower and monorails zooming by.
☞ There are no pick up and drop off points at the hotel. I would recommend selecting The Chow Kit Hotel (Located next to MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur) when ordering a ride via ride hailing services.
If you find my review helpful in the selection of your hotel stay, please give it a Thumbs Up!

Momo’s offered clean, stylish and comfortable rooms with their en-suites having some luxurious free soaps and toiletries. Good aircon, WiFi and amenities.
There is an affordable tacos bar on the ground floor with decent food and drinks, which was a great option for a relaxed meal. Ingredients were fresh, tasty, and brought with good service. The sister Hotel next door has a more formal style, but tasty food options there too and affordable for the city.
Good transport links very nearby, about 20 mins drive from the main TBS bus station and 10 mins to the Petronas Towers. Good food options and shopping malls nearby. 24 hour coin laundry just across the road.
In particular, I was impressed with the reception staff who were very warm and welcoming throughout my stay. They were very helpful in assisting with any queries, such as printing some documents for me and actively seeking the best price online whilst arranging a further night to stay at my request.
I would highly recommend this relatively new hotel for your stay in KL.

This is a fantastic boutique hotel, we came to KL for the weekend, so we wanted somewhere which was in a central location, close by to public transport and at a reasonable price. This hotel covered all of this. Firstly I loved the design and feel of the hotel, from the moment you walk in you know it's a trendy place. The staff member on the front desk was super friendly and made the check in process very quick, it was also great to be able to check in a little earlier. We opted for the crash pad city view and the room was great.
It isn't huge but what more do you want when it's a weekend away, so the size wasn't an issue, plus we only had carry on bags. I loved that the bed was raised and it had a minimalist feel to it. The room was clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean. The air con was good too. They had a system where they gave you a refillable bottle so that you could get fresh water from downstairs in the restaurant, which I thought was a great touch, it's good to know hotels are being conscious of the environment. The bathroom was clean and modern, the shower was amazing!! Loved the water pressure and the soaps that they provided were lovely. The wifi was also good in our room.
There is a great restaurant and bar downstairs, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. It has good transport links, whether it's by train or on the free bus. Overall if your looking for a great place to stay in KL I would definitely stay here, I will be coming back again!

I was first attracted by the minimalist design; all white, light wood, circular fluorescents and a raised platform bed. MoMo's gets the basics right. Comfortable beds, big fluffy towels, super clean rooms and friendly staff. Alena in particular was really friendly and helpful, especially as I had arrived at 7am the morning after I was due because of a cancelled flight. Located in Chiw Kit a short walk to a large mall in one direction and the traditional Chow Kit Market in the other; MoMo's is also close to a monorail station for easy access elsewhere in KL. Five stars from me, highly recommended!

The first vibe as you enter the space is like entering a hip dorm room, down to even the friendly warm receptionists (I was served by Selena and Maddy) who make you feel right at home.
They did tell me that the room space is really small (I booked a Crashpad with city view). But it’s highly functional with modern amenities. Definitely designed with an eye for detail - fluffy towels, good soap, and space saving floor lockers that stores your bags effectively.
Highly recommended for ppl travelling solo or with friends.

Very friendly & helpful staffs. Love this petite size yet cozy room. They decorated the bed as it was our anniversary trip. Bathroom was spacious. Nice shampoo & shower gel. However NO other amenities provided. NO fridge & only a safebox provided. The chair was redundant though 😅. They should have place a mini fridge rather than the chair so that the guests are able to have nice cold beverages or fruits after long day walk outside the hot sun. Housekeeping was not done during our 2nd day even when the tag was hung at the door. So we requested for change of towels instead. Mineral water provided. Tried their beef tacos. Taste ok but not fantastic. Short distance to Chowkit LRT station.

It’s rare to find a hotel which itself acts as both a means of discovering a location and a destination itself. Momos is a cool place. The environment is a mix of Japanese hospitality, 80s neon funk, and classic hostel social circles while offering affordable rooms in the heart of KL. As a new hotel, I expect Momos will be very quickly discovered as one of the best value locations in the city.
