Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Our stay at this Travelodge was one of our better hotel picks in south east Asia. It's location is perfect, near many forms of transport and within walking distance of Central Market and Petaling Street. We also walked to the Botanical Gardens and National Mosque (though you can catch public transport to these spots). Our check in, which was late at night, was simple and we only had to pay the city tax which was 10MYR per night up front. We did have a tiny bit of trouble finding the hotel as it is named 'Travelodge Central Market' on the Uber app. Our room was pleasant, on the 8th floor, not massive but spacious enough with hangers, luggage storage areas, and a TV and fridge. The room was clean and there was free bottled water plus a safe, but limited toiletries. Unfortunately, they do not provide hand towels or soap, when we requested hand soap the receptionist told us the only option was to use the public toilets in the hotel which wasn't very helpful. On the other hand, we got a great room rate and this even included breakfast. The breakfast was very nice; downstairs in what appears to be a separate cafe that the hotel rents out for the morning. There was a range of food and it was all very tasty. There was daily housekeeping and the hotel itself was modern with key card activated doors and a contemporary design throughout. Ultimately, I would certainly suggest staying here if you want to explore Kuala Lumpur and you don't have a large accommodation budget (although even if you did I would still suggest staying here as it was perfectly fine!).

My daughter and I were on a 3-day holiday in KL and had a very hectic schedule starting from day 1. It was good that we chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Central Market and that of Petaling. The people at the hotel reception were fluent in English and were very helpful in giving us instructions and directions to other places of interest. Our room though small had an ideal set up that we were able to organize our luggage and the rest of the stuff without being inconvenienced. The bed and the sheets were comfortable and afforded us a good sleep. The bathroom had good running water of hot and cold with liquid soap and shampoo but there were no toothbrush and toothpaste that my daughter had to buy at the convenience store for this. Breakfast buffet had a good selection and the wait attendants were very courteous.

This was my quarantine hotel when I returned to my home country during the COVID-19 pandemic. All travelers wouldn’t have a choice of the hotel in which we were placed as the transportation and accommodation are arranged by the government. It was RM150/day for Malaysians (inclusive of 3 meals/day), and RM4700/14 days for foreigners.
The room is of adequate size with nice interior decor, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was rather small and the toilet seat is facing too closer to a wall that causing very limited legroom. I was glad that I have my own towel and toiletries because the bath towels provided was with yellow stains and with a nasty mildew smell! Besides, the shampoo and body shampoo smell horrible, they appear extra runny and lack of good lather.
Staffs were friendly. The reception would check everyone's dietary requirements upon check-in.
The food served was mainly in Malay style (curry). Each meal was well packed in a rectangular container with a whole lot of rice in the middle, and two tiny portion dishes on the side. Occasionally they would serve spaghetti or macaroni. The quality of food taste and portion needs improvement.
Personal deliveries by family members/friends are scheduled from 8.30am~4pm only. Home-cooked meals are strictly prohibited.
Orders of outside food are allowed to make between 3pm~5pm only (via FoodPanda or Grab Food). Only licensed and certified Halal restaurants are allowed, such as KFC, McD, Pizza hut, etc.
Overall, it was a good stay, despite the cleanliness and quality of the room amenity and the food served.

I came to this hotel quite by accident, after I found my original booking elsewhere to be unsatisfactory. First of all the location is perfect. Close to the train, Central Market, and Chinatown. I love being able to walk and have access to so many street food options.
I am working online, and the room was large and bright enough (with desk and lamp) that I was completely comfortable spending hours in there during the day. The WiFi was strong enough for teaching video classes.
The room had a fridge and a safe. The staff was most helpful. Be sure to check your pricing options... I walked in off the street and spoke to the person at the desk. He quoted me a price, and when I showed him a cheaper price on Trip.com he advised me to book through the app.

Good but not the best. Cheap price but for a limited budget, this hotel is expensive. Rooms are spacious enough. But the cleaning service is quite disappointing because they only clean the room but do not replace dirty towels. Receptionist also seemed less friendly like they didn't need guests or anything like that. But from all that, the position of this hotel is strategic of all places. Located in the middle of the city and close to tourist attractions.

Stayed at Travelodge City Centre for 5 days over New Years. The location is great - very close to Central Markets & Petaling St & a relatively easy (1.5 km) walk to Jalan Alor & a little further to Bukit Bintang.
We booked the family room, which was quite spacious, good aircon & excellent views across the city.
The attached Antipodean cafe/restaurant served up a good buffet breakfast each day.
All the staff were friendly & professional throughout the hotel. Special shout out to Siti & the security guard who looked after us every day, with a smile on their faces.
Verdict: we’d definitely come back & stay again.

Having come here from an absolute disaster of a property we just wanted a couple of nights somewhere where we knew what we were going to get. We are backpackers so for us this is pretty much a luxury staying somewhere like this rather than hostels or guesthouses. It's a welcome relief to know you're going to get somewhere comfortable, safe, private and clean and it just ticks all those boxes. Staff were great, room was lovely. Nice break from hostels and crappy guesthouses for a couple of nights! Also close to public transport. Area around here can be a bit rough but we came because it was close to where we were staying before leaving after it was so bad! So it was idea for a quick transition and we knew about the area beforehand. Having said that it is close to public transport and good cheap food. Would be nice for breakfast to be included.

Would highly recommend this place for travellers relying on public transport to get around.
With the MRT, LRT and KTM long distance station located just outside the hotel you won’t have to worry about getting to and from the hotel.
You can wake up at 7am, have the hotel breakfast and catch the 8:30am ETS train from Kuala Lumpur Station to Penang in time for lunch. Absolutely love it.
The rooms are good, not the best but they are clean and well kept. Hotel breakfast is served at the neighbouring cafe, the food isn’t the best but it’s totally decent and acceptable for this class of hotel.
Parking is RM10 a night, located at the basement of the hotel with a security guard 24/7.

If I could give this place and negative rating I would it was one of the worst hotels I've stayed at anywhere in the world it was disgusting.
The Travelodge city centre Kuala Lumpur is an absolute dump and a waste of money.
The hotel is an old building with appallingly disgusting and dirty rooms and substandard housekeeping. The rooms are filthy with dirt and grime on the floor, human saliva and body fluids on the walls, discoloured sheets and towels, and some of the rooms stink of cigarette smoke. My first room the air conditioning didn't work and smelt musty and the second room I was moved to stunk of cigarette smoke.
When I complained about my room smelling of cigarette smoke the reception said, 'I'll send someone up to check!' as though she didn't believe me and then sent up as a security guard with a can of horrid toilet spray to try and disguise the stench of cigarette smoke which did nothing but make the room smell even more.
The rooms are small and poorly maintained with dirt and marks on the walls, chips out of the plaster and an overall grimy appearance.
The bathroom is ridiculously tiny and more like a closet with a bathroom sink and toilet squeezed in. At 6ft tall when you sit on the toilet your knees were pushed against the wall in front of you. Any person with mobility issues or large in size would not be able to use the toilet.
They provide dental kits, a couple of dirty unsanitary glasses sitting in the bathroom with marks and fluid stains all over them and there is no hand soap provided, and there are no face wahers, hair dryer, slippers or bathrobes provided.
The shower has average water pressure but have fun trying to dry yourself because you can't even extend your elbow leaning hard against one wall and open your hand right up because it is already touch the sink with a closed fist so it is a very tight fit. There is a dispenser with some cheap liquid soap on the wall that's seriously this bathroom is ridiculously small.
They say there is a bar fridge but it is a ridiculous small bar cooler with a glass front with no temperature adjustment and it doesn't keep things cold.
The small LCD TV 50% of the TV stations don't work at all, and they say they have cable channels which is rubbish there's no cable channels and there's no English speaking channels, not even a news channel. So if you only speak English you're out of luck with the TV.
This is a very poor quality grubby hotel in a grubby part of a neighbourhood which is very unsanitary and uninviting and doesn't feel safe at night. This hotel is more like what you would expect in a rundown derelict ghetto!
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody even at $10 a night.
Do yourself a favour, do not stay here, do not waste your money because this place is dirty and disgraceful and if I could I would give it a -5 out of 10.
One of the worst hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world.

<Poor Booking Management> I booked a double room through Agoda. When I arrived, the receptionist told me another staff had given out my room and they only had one last twin room. Yes, I arrived late but I did call early to inform about that and they should have reserved the room for me. The receptionist was polite enough to apologize so I took the room anyways.
<Appalling Curtain Fitting> I entered the room and the curtain rail was detached off the ceiling. I called the front desk. It was midnight and they sent a security staff to look into it. The staff wanted to screw the rail back onto the ceiling with a drill driver. I did not want the room to get dusty and disturb other guests, so I just asked the helpful staff to remove the curtains and rail out of the room. I slept without curtains and rose early in the next morning.
<Plus Points> To be fair, there are other things I like about the hotel. First one is the location. It is next to MRT Pasar Seni and 5-minute walk to the happening places in Chinatown. Secondly, the hotel and room were clean. I like the compact bathroom and strong hot shower.
