Detailed Reviews
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our short two night weekend stopover at this well established KL institution.
Our anticipated misgivings regarding the hotel’s age were dispelled. The public areas and rooms seem largely recently renovated and or well maintained. We were particularly impressed with the resort styled outside pool area bathed in sunshine and with incredibly comfortable lounge chairs.
Elite Titanium recognition was excellent reflected in exceedingly obliging pre-arrivals email responses from the GM James Bevan, a very warm welcome by Meggan Lee, Jennifer and their teams as well as a generous suite upgrade.
The location is perfect for exploring KL and far better than around say Sentral station.
Billal at the poolside was one of the hotels many stars. Unlike many pool attendants who hide in corners playing with their phones, Billal constantly was being proactive with guests bringing regular iced water, fresh towels and shifting umbrellas.
The Executive Lounge was very pleasant with generous offerings over 4 hours from 5.30pm with exceptional service led by Vadivelu. The spacious facility was somewhat soulless without any windows. It was also a little demeaned with some guests ignoring any semblance of a dress code attired in board shorts, singlets, gym gear, hotel slippers etc.
Breakfast offerings were more than satisfactory although the juices seemed watered down and the temporary venue on the second floor meeting room whilst Shook is being renovated disappointing.
The stellar service was no better exemplified than when checking out the loyalty manager Johannon offered and organised water and a take away coffee with our car to the airport.
As an overall package, and after having previously stayed at the Westin, RItz Carlton, Sheraton, St Regis and Le Méridien, given the attractive room rate, we would unhesitatingly return to this first class managed hotel.

I just spent almost a week in this hotel, and can't begin to explain how awesome the staff here is.
Before I arrived at the hotel, I asked of my room could have extra blankets, and the temperature via message to the hotel in the app. They did exactly as I requested.
The bedding was awesome, and the bed amazing. The rest of the room was comfortable and very nice. I couldn't be happier with the room.
The front desk was on point very friendly and professional, as was the bell staff. The housekeeping was top notch, and the turn down service did a great job, including replacing used towels and sprucing up the room in the evening.
Where this property really stood out to me was the Concierge Lounge. Vadiu and his staff are wonderful. Other properties should send their staff here for training.
Queenie is one of the trainee cooks and is very friendly. She is an asset to your team. Shayem and Albert always kept the lounge very friendly and were great in the evenings. Agil and Joshua kept me well fed with super tasty things that I often wouldn't have known to try. You all are the best.
There is construction going on next door, but it was never noticeable except when walking over to the local food court and train station. And seriously, there is no place in KL where there isn't construction right now.
I look forward to another stay here. Thank you all so much.

The JW Marriott KL offers accommodation that is modern and luxurious. Housekeeping standards is tip top and is in line with expectations.
Above all, a particular incident I encountered affirms the high standards the hotel upholds. My wallet was unfortunately pickpicketed when I was in front of the pavilion shopping mall. I returned to the hotel for assistance. The front desk personnels and especially Eisha and her fellow colleague (apologies as I cannot recall her name), rendered heartfelt full assistance to cancel my cards and to make a loss report with the local authority. This is the litmus test of the level of care the hotel provides for their guest. This is the place where the guest safety is of paramount importance and where you can experience warm hearted service.
I would have given a 6 star rating if there is one. Thank you to all members who have assisted in one way or another.

For a JW Marriott, i.e. one of the brands position as the group's best I was disappointed with my stay for 2 reasons:
1. I was given a windowless room and that was never indicated anywhere on the booking page (I used the official hotel's website), nor on the receipt.
Well it's not technically windowless- it has a window.... but to a wall with fake light and plants *eyeroll*. Call a spade a spade, JW Kuala Lumpur. It's a windowless room and you should indicate that on the booking so the customer can decide if they want the room or not, fair and square.
Upon checking in, I insisted on a room change based on this. They promised me if will be ready the next day. didn't happen. They didn't answer my calls after that so I came down to the front desk and insisted they change it which they then did.
2. Accessible rooms have inaccessible showers. I booked an accessible room for my mother who is a wheelchair user with advanced Parkinson's. The bathroom was big but the toilets were on the 4 meters away from the shower, separated by the sink. Obviously they did not consult an expert on the design, as you should always build accessible toilets beside the showers for wheelchair users. Then the barstool. It was literally 1 foot x 1 foot, impossible for an adult to sit on. Again, doesn't serve it's purpose. So we asked for a commode, a common fixture available for accessible rooms. First the housekeeping said it was being used. We call back in an hour and then they said they don't have one. Seriously? My poor mother had to be given showers on the toilet with a bucket we bought and shower towel for the 4 days we were there. Not quite the luxury experience I had intended for her.
What this hotel is great for is it's location. It's smack in the middle of the city's commercial hub, the Golden Triangle, with Pavilion mall right outside the entrance. The rooms and interiors look like a JW with it's understated marble etc.
To summarize, this hotel's location is great and it does have the luxurious feel you'd expect, but what JW Kuala Lumpur needs to realise is that being a top tier hotel means more than just looking like a luxury hotel. You need to selling rooms accurately- windowless rooms should be clearly stated, and you should only offer accessible rooms if you've actually consulted with an accessibility expert. The latter might not seem like much to a regular person, but if you or a loved one one were in a wheelchair, it's really not pleasant, and especially not at this price point of this hotel. I'm a Marriott Elite Gold member and this is the first time I've been disappointed with a stay. Did not expect this could happen with a JW.

We were happy with the location of this hotel, Nested within StarHill Gallery it's just a stone's throw across to Pavillion BB as well as being near to Fahrenheit, Lot 10. Its as central as can be. The Room is clean and spacious. TV is huge. Bathroom is pleasing and water pressure is strong, however we experience a couple of nights where the hot water failed and very colorated (muddy) water flowed out. The front desk were quick to assure me it's addressed. The service team on the whole are attentive and in particular the bellboys and doormen deserves to be praised for being courteous and good multitaskers. We recommend highly to stay in this hotel !

Hotel is attached to the Starhill Mall and just across the road to Pavillion Mall. Fahrenheit mall is also located next to StarHill which have an underground pass to get to Pavillion to avoid the hot sun waiting for the traffic light to turn green .
Stayed at the superior king room, Room door have a big gap under it so light and sound from the outside enter the room easily. The lift was also quite stick during my 3 night stay there, I assume it's from people coming from the dinning area in the LG floor as the floor during breakfast was very stick too.
On arrival to the hotel, I ask the concierge where the lobby was only to be told the lobby is in the lobby. It was my first time staying in the hotel and all i can see was the shops, when asked again where to check in i was reply with at the lobby. I didnt see any sign pointing to the lobby or maybe I've missed it. I just follow another guest checking in to find the check in desk. Breakfast was in shook and had an allocated breakfast time written in the breakfast voucher, option given was 7-8,8-9,9-10. Not sure if you can come to breakfast if you miss the allocated time wasn't informed during check in.
Check out was quick and easy and the receptionist was kind enough to get me a taxi to the airport and provide luggage storage while waiting.

Aftre many research I have booked 3 nights at the JW. I am really trustful with this brand that I have experienced in US and Thailand. Perfectly located in the city center, we can say that the quality of the room met the expectations I had.
However, i was really disappointed about the service as the purpose of our trip was the birthday of my wife. I have asked for a cake and a personalized message when we will arrive in the room. All had been confirmed by email but when we arrived the room nothing was there ! Really disappointing. Also We came with our kid of 1 year old and when we asked for a taxi, we had to wait more than 30 min as the person in charge didn;t want to walk 15 meter to ask for taxi available that were passing in the street. Just small details that made the experience deceptive in despite of the good standard and quality of the room....

This is the first time I’m back staying at Marriott after some time. The last time is probably more than 2 years ago. At that time they were still refurbishing their rooms and I remember hearing the drilling sound when I’m in the room. So I decided to come back again and experience Marriott.
For the price and location I think this is a very good value for money hotel. Is it the best? I think it’s not particularly because in my opinion there are better hotels around that area. In today’s market people will compare you with the best and to me this is where Marriott fall short. First of all when I walk in to the lobby I don’t feel the warmth of their staff that makes you feel welcome. That to me is very important when I’m staying at a hotel. I don’t feel the connection there with the staffs which is professional but does not engage with their guest enough to make me feel welcome.
The room is nice and spacious enough but you don’t have a USB port for me to charge my phone! This is a minimum must in every room in my opinion nowadays. Luckily last minute I packed my wall charger with me. For a hotel like Marriott it is surprising that in your room you do not have a single USB port for me to charge my phone. So if you are planning to stay at this hotel do take note and don’t assume they will have USB port in the room. Make sure you bring along your wall charger.
The tv entertainment channels listed not all are available. There are quite a lot of channel that when I select is just a black screen and not available. If it is not available then it should not be in the listing. It’s very misleading making me think you have so many channels to choose but when I select it there is a black screen and not available.
Next is parking. Why is there no complementary parking for hotel guest? All the hotels around that area is offering complimentary parking for hotel guest except Marriott and Ritz. I have stayed at all the hotels around the Pavillion and KLCC and it is only your group of hotels that is charging your guests a flat rate of RM10! This is not good. My last stay at one of the hotel nearby and they even offer complimentary parking for my friend that is visiting me. They gave me 2 free parking! But you can’t even offer your hotel guest 1.
Overall I think for the price and location it is still a good hotel to stay in but to me when I compare with your competitors in the same area, this hotel definitely fall way short from my expectation.

JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur has been around for quite a while and used to be the few top notch hotels in KL and the best in Bukit Bintang area and the Grand Ballroom was sought after for wedding ceremonies and dinner. For so many years it has managed to hold on the status of premier hotel.
It’s location which is in the same premise as the once popular Star Hill Shopping and just across the road from the famous Pavillion Shopping Mall and walking distance to Fahrenheit, Lot 10, Sungai Wang Plaza and Berjaya Time Square makes it the most ideal choice for those who likes shopping. It is in the best well know shopping street of Bukit Bintang.
We were well treated by the JW Marriot Team and on both occassions of our stay during new year 2021 and September 2021 they upgraded us to Junior Suite with connecting room. The rooms were still uptodate and the bed & pillows were very comfortable to our liking.
The service was excellent and all the staff from the doorman, porter, security guard and reception counter were well mannered, courteous and most welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were at the Shook which is a separate entity but well connected to JW Marriot and the food were excellent. The Shook was one of the most famous restaurants in the area in its early era and still standing, up to now.
JW Marriot is an American chain brand name and security is very strict from entering the parking area and entrance at the main lobby level but once you are in you would feel safe and relax. Louis Vitton is just next door at the same floor.
We really enjoyed our 2-Nights stay at JW Marriot with our families and at night the view outside the hotel and along the pedestrian walk overlooking the Pavillion and towards Jalan Sultan Ismail was really beautiful and not to miss to take photos and videos as you cant find the scenary elsewhere..
The rate is of 5-Star hotel and once a while they have staycation promotion which is really worth to take. This is a hotel which we would always want to come back. Thank you JW Marriot and keep up the good work.
