My friends and i booked in this hotel for 2 days and 2 nights for 2 rooms. We're expecting to check in earlier since the owner allowed us to do so thru email. When we got in hotel petaling, we were surprised that our room was taken by someone else's! Actually they gave it to other guest! They even said the reason why they can't accomodate us was due to eletrical problem. They said we can look for another hotel nearby, check in for a day then go back to their hotel the following day. WTF?! Really??! The owner didn't even bothered giving us a heads up! Thanks to this hotel, we wasted the whole day looking for another hotel! We're only on a vacation for 2 days! 2 days only and they wasted 1 day of our vacation! Not gonna book ever again in this hotel!!

We were booked for 2 days and 2 nights but the hotel cancelled when we arrived saying that there is no electricity all over the street but they were lying when I checked with other establishment there is no black out of sort. They give the spot to a different travelers and made it hard for us to find another hotel to stay because it was cancelled last minute. We wasted a day in Kuala Lumpur because we were so tired and no place to stay.

Recomended place to stay in KL. near to everywhere (3 minutes walk to pasar seni, 5 minutes walk to KLCG/ masjid jamek/ dataran merdeka, 5 minutes walk to puduraya/pudu sentral, 0 minutes walk to chinatown/petalling street, 3 minutes walk to halte bus GO KL) this hotel also have fast respons for anything. I booked a room for 3 peoples with shower inside the bathroom. I got some trouble with the AC at first and then they fix it before 1 minutes after I complained them that problem. Free hot/cold drinking water also ready 24 hours for free. Surely will choose this hotel if I come to KL again next time

Stayed here in Hotel Petaling for the 3rd time already. We always book this place because of its very reasonable price, strategic location and very efficient hosts. I will recommend this place to family and friends who will be visiting Kuala Lumpur.

I stayed at Hotel Petaling only one night, actually only about 7-8 hours. I came late in the evening by bus from Melaka, and left early in the morning to Taman Negara with Han Travel. Han's nearby starting point was my only reason for choosing a hotel at this position. This, fortunately very short experience, was probably the worst hotel experience I ever had. It's a mistery how this hellhole can be among the 30% best Kuala Lumpur hotels according to TA reviewers. I read back some of the reviews and found several examples of great forgiveness on the side of reviewers who, though noticing very serious flaws, for some reasons did not give this hotel the deserved low grades. When I came late in the night, the two receptionists (one older, mean-looking guy and much friendlier younger guy) were very obviously suprised, even though the room was booked and should have been waiting for me clean and ready. They exchanged few hasty sentences in Chinese, and the younger guy rushed up the stairs, obviously to tidy up the room for me. Seeing this, I lowered my expectations on cleanliness and, basically, everything else, so I wasn't very upset seeing a very shaby room with no window, and some strange kind of "door". The very loud AC, if I remember it correctly, I managed somehow to shut off, since I was recieving enough air through a crack under the door. But the main shock came after I shut off the light in the "room". There was a tiny layer of artificial light protruding in THROUGH A CRACK BETWEEN THE "WALL" AND THE CEILING!!! I touched the "wall" and realised that it is not a wall at all, but a cardboard, poorly attached to the ceiling. Yes, I was not in a room, but in a carboard box! I could hear every single, even the slightest noise, not from my first neighbors, but from at least from 5-6 different similar "rooms". The things dramatically worstened when a family with a small child who just couldn't stop crying for more than an hour returned from somewhere. Judging to some other sounds and noises I heard from that direction, they were not tourists, but, as one of the earlier reviewers noticed, lived there. Somehow I did catch few hours of sleep, before the same child woke me up much before my set alarm. On a bit brighter note, the morning guy at the front desk was very polite and friendly. This might be the best hotel for backpacker, as it is VERY cheap. But the room is clean, quite spacious and maintained well. There is also free flow of cold and hot water which save us money from buying mineral water. Not to mention the utmost friendly staff. We stayed twice here, and during our second stay and the staff still recognize us, they always greet us whenever we want to go out and help us with all the information we need. The con is, the wifi is not always working but when it works it is fast. U might want to try the wifi from another floor which has the same password if the one you are using is not working. Also the room is not soundproof and it's quite annoying especially when there are children running in the lobby and throwing tantrum.

But no more than that, there's no seat at reception or bar, or chill area..is a guest house more than an hotel...staff is nice but never moving from front desk...very basic place, good for short staying and visiting Chinatown

Overall the place gives you a good value for the $. Location is great as you have petaling street across from the hotel, pasar seni station a block away and the GoKL bus stop too. The hotel staff is super nice and helpful, we were able to leave our bags after check out as we had a late flight that day. The hotel is a bit old but elevator works perfectly fine and rooms are clean. The room was small but not tiny with no windows. Hot shower available in the room.

First you need to understand that this hotel is so so so so cheap that obviously there has to be a caveat, which is that the place is old and smells kind of funnu. But, I you can tell that they place great effort in keeping it clean. The restroom was very clean, and as well as the room, and linens, but being that Kuala Lumpur is quite the humid city I imagine it is hard to keep an old place like this one from smelling funny. The people at the reception were very nice and the location cannot be beaten. If you are in an adventurous mood and a tight budget, you can believe me, this is your place.

We stayed 2 nights and it was worth it. If I come back I'll stay in this one too. It take only 05 mins to the bus station ( they have free tourist bus too, which is a plus!) and the Sky train too. it is located in china town where the food is great and the safety is quite good too. The big positive impression was the staffs. They are very helpful from the very beginning when I booked the room online, patiently with instruction to the places I asked for visit. Highly recommend .
