Detailed Reviews
I arrived in Kuala Lumpur in the evening and took a taxi from KL Sentral to the hotel. It wasn't easy to find the actual hotel because it's next to the backside of the Swiss Inn where lots of street vendors are. During evenings, cars cannot go into the back street because there are too many people and vendors everywhere. The other option is to take the LRT from KL Sentral to Pasar Seni station and walk about 10 minutes to the hotel.
I stayed in a single, which had no windows and had thin walls. But for the price and central location in Chinatown / access to the LRT, I didn't expect much.
Other services they have are laundry (I think it was 7MYR for the first kg and an additional 3MYR for each increment of 0.5kg) and internet (1MYR for 10 minutes).
There are lots of restaurants and street vendors from very early in the morning but I didn't hear any of the street noise in my room. If you are on a tight budget, will mostly stay outdoors/sightseeing & are looking for a place to literally just sleep in, I would stay here.

This little hotel is a bonus, right in the heart of Chinatown, but read on ........ Whilst watching people, esp backpackers walking back and forth looking for their hotels, the advice l give is to make sure you print off a map first, or ask some questions. Chinatown is crowded with markets and after 6pm, even more so. It creates a great atmosphere, however it's very difficult to find hotels. Numbered businesses are few, signage is lost amongst other signage. Chinatown Inn 2 is just past Chinatown Inn and it is between 2 good restaurants, Arabesque and Cafe Pentaling, in the busy little Pentaling Street.
If you avoid the frustrations of finding the hotel, then great, and it is so refreshing to get off the street after days out and about. The hotel is close to Pasar Seni railway station, as well as the free buses. And if you love markets, then you will be in heaven.
The hotel staff are ok, but l felt ripped off when they said l needed to book a private taxi for an early morning flight. I paid up front, initially grateful for their help. After 2 days of finding my way around Kl and checking out Sentral station, l realised that l could get to the airport easily, in good time before my early flight and a LOT cheaper on my own. I did talk to two staff members about this, but l did not get my money back and instead l paid a lot of unnecessary money for a pre-booked taxi. I left with a bad taste and cross words. This is so uncommon for me in all of my south East Asian travels and definitely the first time l have had words with hotel staff EVER. . The transport system in KL is unreal, and interesting. Sightseeing was wonderful, and l did this mostly on my own, a lady of 57 years old. I found the local cafés to be very friendly too.
So would l recommend Chinatown Inn 2, or stay there again? Yes. It's certainly worth it, but don't let them rip you off. Oh, and the reception staff omitted to tell me about the free buses. Hmmmm, why??? This extra assistance goes a long way for recommending accommodation. Oh, yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, the walls are paper thin, and l am sure l was neighbours with a young honeymoon couple, so it was just like being in the movies listening to them until l decided l should leave my room so as not to 'intrude' !! But you get what you pay for, just ask for a room with no neighbours!! This is the first time l have been negative in any of my reviews btw.

Hi, were at this hotel for 4 days and it was a very nice stay.
Rooms - clean, smaller, but if your here to watch the life out there and not just watch the tv, than are well spaced ;) room cleaning service is each day and they give you each day new towels (even it wasnt neccessary) and when the shower gel is going to its end, they give you a new one (have to notice we have a standard room). We've also use the laundry (6rm/kg) and everything was ok. The staff is always smiling at you :) also friendly is change-book-library on the left side tv corner.
Food-hotel is not providing any food service, but for breakfast if you like continental, there is a redtarant on left hand when comming out of hotel (breakfast closing at 10:30; pay 20rm/person - drinks included). For dinner there is a plenty of 'street restaurants' - also very tasty (we eat for 20-25rm for 3 persons). If you want to eat smthng more 'european', than visit Nando's.
What to do: by foot you can visit (must!) City galery with its light exhibition-its for free, but really like it!! If front of the galery you can make an iconic picture with I♥KL. Than you can visit gardens nearby - also very nice.
Hotel is on Petaling street - you can buy here almost everything! Its very kind that the sellers are very friendly even you dont buy a thing, but if you do, dont accept the first price- say at least hafl and you will met the price in between your offer and theirs. Mostly thex are givin you better price by thenselves when you start to leaving the stand.
Can recommend you this hotel-friendly and clean with one advice-do not take room without window (if you really dont like it) couse it very hard do wake up and go out and you alsi never know when its raining ;)

The lobby and elevators smell like mothballs (thanks to the suitcase shop downstairs), the rooms are really dark and depressing, and the guys at the counter are kind of creepy. The hotel itself is pretty mediocre. Although many reviews mention cleanliness, I found rotting wood on the bathroomn door (asian style wetroom).
Also, before visiting Kuala Lumpur I didn't realize how small the city center is. There is no need to stay on Jalan Petaling unless you like the cramped Chinatown feel and the numerous hecklers at all hours. The backpackers district is a ten minute walk away and the streets are more open and airy and pleasant with the same prices for the same type of room.
Also, if you live in Southeast Asia you are going to be stuck in Chinatown with limited food options late at night. I did not leave Thailand to visit Malaysia and end up eating phak bung and kuaytiaw in Chinatown. Which is what happened my last night. Boo.
Did I mention that upon arrival at Hotel China Town 2, they gave me a key for my room and upon entering it was littered with beer bottles and the bed was unmade with a wet towel on the floor? Yeah, they didnt bother cleaning it before giving me the key. Had to wait 2 hours to check in late because the maids went to lunch already. Also poor wifi signal in the room.

Located bang in the middle of Chinatown we paid £19 for a double room with private bathroom. No window, but for one night it was fine.
The electrics in the room seemed a little sparky so we avoided the plug sockets, but in general it was clean and comfortable.
No safety deposit boxes available when we stayed. Front of house were a little surly, but not a reason not to stay.
Good budget hotel.

Hotel Chinatown 2 is not bad. It cost us about 100 RM ($30) for a double room per night and the room had an ensuite bathroom, was clean, but didn't have a window. Waking up in pitch black is extremely difficult. The hotel is well located in the thick of the action in Chinatown and stepping into the aircon and relative tranquility of the hotel each day was a bit of a blessing.
Chinatown in general is getting a bit passed it I think, as a traveller destination. Tengkat Tong SHin (Bukit Bintang) is fast superceding it with cooler guesthouses that offer the same value as Chinatown. That said, this hotel isn't bad and if you are planning on a stay in Chinatown, you could do a lot worse. Just, if you look in other areas, you can do a lot better.
Chinatown overall is a tourist trap so be ready for that. The market is cheap and offers amazing priced knock-off clothes, football shirts, watches etc, but food (especially) and accommodation are a little overpriced as a result. Seriously, don't eat in Chinatown, you can get the same food around the corner for half the price and twice as good. Or go into the food courts behind the tourist facades.
So, Hotel Chinatown 2 is recommended if you do plan a trip into Chinatown and your budget is tight and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

We reached late at night but the was staff to help us in the counter. He was polite and we like his smilling face. We got a small but decent and clean room at 89 ringit .We stayed there for 4 days and the experience was good. There is one Phllipino lady who was quiet helpful in our stay. The staff we good but only few can speak english. The location of the hotel is good and we enjoyed the influnce of chiness culture. Overall it was very pleasant experience as per the budget.

Myself & my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights in December. We found the hotel very easily from Pasar Seni Station (about a 3 minute walk) and we're pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel, our room was small, but big enough for us as we were out all day and only used it to sleep. The room had no windows, but we had excellent sleeps as it was so dark. The rooms were air conditioned too. The bathroom was basic, and with a shower which was ok but not great - found it better to hold the shower rather than stand underneath. They also provided towels & shower gels too which was handy. The WIFI in the hotel was really strong, we had excellent signal in our room.
One problem we did have, was our neighbours in the next room were very loud, and seemed to have no regard for anyone around, (it was a family with 2 children). Luckily, they did go to sleep when we did so didn't cause much problem, but they were very irritating! But, this was not the fault of the hotel, and these people were very lucky in that they had very quiet neighbors (us).
We had breakfast each day at the hotel next door, Swiss Inn Hotel - all you can eat breakfast for 12 MR they changed the selection daily, so we didn't have the same things every day.
This hotel was in an excellent location, I would definately recommend. Also, the free massage chair in the reception was a god send getting back late at night after a busy day sightseeing & walking around KL.

Stayed here in the ending days of a month travelling Malaysia and Borneo, it was a nice change from hammocks and dirty hostels.
The facilities were clean and room service by the maids was efficient too.
Location of the hotel is brilliant as it is right in the middle of the main Chinatown market where you are able to experience the whole market culture of bartering and souvenirs, it is a five minute walk to the KL Sentral Train Line which can take you to the city train station or Batu Caves, it is also not far from the Grand Market too.
Staff were also helpful with the large party of 12 of us and aided us to get to Batu Caves.
