Overall a good stay at the hotel and I've struggle to find any faults. I would definitely return and recommend.

Check in starts at 15:00, when I booked, I asked for an early check in as we had an overnight flight landing early morning. We got to the hotel at 11:00 and they did have a room ready for us, which was greatly appreciated. In the future, some acknowledgement or response to my initial email would have been appreciated, e.g. Them responding saying 'we'll see what we can do'.

The hotel is in a good location, everything is within walking distance. The actual hotel has modern decor which I liked and their 1st floor workers Union looked. The WiFi in the hotel was good, fast and strong signal everywhere.

The room is large, with a big bed and soft bed linen and felt like heaven after a long flight. I couldn't hear anything or anyone around the hotel, so I slept well both nights. They give you robes in the bedroom which I wore up to the pool. The bathroom was my favourite part of the room, it was big (most hotel rooms have a tiny bathroom) and the shower was amazing! You could have a waterfall shower. I really liked the different lighting you could have in the room and the light switches are labelled. The only improvement I'd suggest is different curtains, perhaps blackouts to keep the sun out, so room stays cooler and it's dark in the morning.

We had breakfast included, this was a buffet and you could order additional items off a menu, e.g. English breakfast, Wonton soup. They cater to all cultures. They have a coffee machine or fresh juices available. The staff during breakfast were efficient at seating people, quick to clear away plates and refresh food. I liked that they always left your cutlery when clearing your plate, so you don't need to hunt for more.

The swimming club on 11th floor was good, I'd suggest doing before sunset so you can see the city transition to night. The pool is smaller then the pictures look, but I expected this and as adequate for me. The have a happy hour 5-7pm on mocktails and cocktails.

Note if you're doing a big trip round Asia and need laundry doing, there are several around, we used Anna Laundry which is 2mins away! They were cheap and had a quick turn around.

We have nothing but amazing things to say about this place! We had booked two nights for Christmas far in advance and upon checking in we soon fell in love and didn’t want to leave. We asked if it was possible to add one more night and stay the 27th to which we were very sadly told they were sold out. So we stayed our first two nights, left for one night, and checked right back in for another two! This wasn’t all that big of a deal considering we are backpacking so being on the move is fine! When we checked out the first time the staff were amazing and said they would try and get our room ready as soon as they could so we could check back in the following day early. Which they did! Such a nice added touch.

We loved absolutely everything about this hotel. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The roof top pool and bar were incredible! We spent all of our days just relaxing by the pool. During the middle of the afternoon was our favourite because the pool was always quiet. The pool bar staff are also very attentive and made their rounds checking in on us. The rooms were spotlessly clean. The most comfortable beds, and great showers. Loved having Netflix! The breakfast buffet was unreal! After eating it for four mornings we could never get tired of it. It was the highlight of every day. It had enough options that kept changing daily. And the food in general was amazing. Even all the snacky food we had by the pool was well portioned for price and super yummy.

Not to mention the hotel is in a really good area! Super close to everything! Overall we had the best four nights here. And would highly recommend this place. If we are ever back in KL we will be staying here again!

There’s no shortage of hotels in KL, so finding one isn’t a problem. Narrowing it down to those with the necessary combinations of amenities and location might be a touch harder though. The KL Journal did a good job of providing everything we needed, and we had a nice stay here at the end of our Malaysian holiday.

It’s located in Bukit Bintang which we felt offered the best of both worlds. There’s an area teeming with touristy bars and restaurants nearby – so plenty of food options and some gems in there. It’s also really close to the unmistakeable sights and sounds of Jalan Alor, KL’s famous street food street, which also provided us with dinner options. And Bukit Bintang itself has a huge metro and monorail station so easy access to the rest of the city. Finally, it’s walking distance to the Petronas Towers which can be accessed almost entirely via shaded walkways which makes the walk a much more pleasant experience in a hot and humid city.

The hotel itself is a boutique hotel, and exudes that feeling. Décor is modern and quirky, with an art deco theme running throughout, and particularly apparent at the rooftop swimming pool and bar, with its infinity pool and views down to the hustle and bustle of Buki Bintang below. The pool is small but welcome, and there are happy hour deals on drinks at the right time.

Our room had a view of the Petronas Towers, which was lovely, and a really nice reminder of the city we were in. The other way, we had a view towards Jalan Alor, and a more traditional view of KL. The rooms are decent-sized and comfortable with the all-important aircon!

Breakfast was served in the café downstairs and is a real feature of this hotel. As well as the buffet with an array of Malaysian options, there’s an a la carte menu to choose from. This was mostly Western options but changed daily and so did throw up some interesting local choices some days. It was a really nice start to the day to enjoy a big breakfast before heading out sightseeing – and for me, was one of the things that gives the KL Journal the edge in a big city.

When we got dropped off at this hotel, I had my doubts about it because the immediate surroundings were not attractive. I kept my expectations low. Lobby wasn't impressive, as the Front Desk was just a counter that would only pass for a Bell Hop counter at other hotels. The Dining Area beyond the Lobby was much more attractively decorated!

The room we got had everything going wrong: desk lamp that didn't work, TV channels not available, just Netflix (thank God for that), hook in the bathroom loose so we couldn't hang our towel on it. The maintenance guy who came up to help fix our the fixables in our room did a really good job! However, when my best friend noticed the very sluggish drain in the shower enclosure, we called again, and the Front Desk gal, Shirley, moved us to another room on the same floor so we wouldn't be too hassled. The guy who brought the keys to the new room, graciously stayed until we could check that everything worked in our new room (AND, everything worked beautifully: brightly lit, comfortable beds, hook firmly on the wall for our towel, water flowing nicely into the drain, we had access to TV channels and Netflix, sufficient toiletries). This time we had a nice view of the shopping area. The room we moved into, the premises were very clean! Journal is perfectly located: just a hop, skip to the fabulous shopping mall: Pavilion, and other shopping places, as well as restaurants. We were smack in the middle of Bukit Bintang where everything that mattered was located. Special mention: Shirley at the Front Desk was incredibly helpful, and very responsive to our needs, and very personable. We commend her! The breakfast buffet didn't have too many choices. When we brought our own food, Shirley at the Front Desk kindly helped us have it heated up and we ate in the dining area. Big thanks!

This hotel was perfectly located for shopping and eating at restaurants: a very short walk to all! I also commend it for its cleanliness, for the helpful staff.

The only disappointing thing was that I sent them an email two weeks before getting there to ask what the best option of getting from the airport was and they never replied.
Using the app ‘Grab’ and booking a ride share was the best and easiest option. It was about an hours drive and $26AUS.
We had a deluxe king room which was a decent size for the two of us. Very clean and modern with a comfy bed.
Air con is great and room has a mini fridge. You get a bottle of water each day. Wifi is great and free Netflix.
Breakfast was included- the Buffett is pretty basic but you can also order extra stuff from a menu that is also included. There are some good vegetarian items in this menu.
Rooftop pool area and bar is really lovely with nice decor and a view over Bukit Bintang. Happy hour from 5p-7pm is 2 cocktails/ wines for $15AUS.
The hotel is located in the centre of the Bukit Bintang shopping area. Very central to everything. It’s a 15-20 minute walk to Petronis towers but just make sure you book in prior to going if you want to do the skywalk.
They did charge me for breakfast upon checking out when it was meant to be included in the price which I had already paid. They sorted it out straight away and gave me the money back.
This hotel is great and I would definitely stay here next time.

Early this month, I hosted an international meeting and chose Kuala Lumpur Journal for the guests' accommodation. It was a good decision, they came highly recommended and offered very reasonable rates and wonderful service to the guests. The hotel is well-located with easy access to all the amenities in and nearby. The guests loved the rooms, which were well-sized, and had a nice touch with the welcome/complimentary drinks. My guests loved the breakfast at the hotel! They found the staff to be responsive and helpful.
I liaised with David and his team to get the rooms and they responded quickly within a short turn around time and were great with all the different requests we had.
I would highly recommend the hotel whether for leisure or business and definitely speak with David and his colleagues. Overall a very good experience!

We stayed here early December and it was a great hotel in terms of location, amenities as well as room cleanliness and size. Great value for money and easy to get around by foot, train or Grab. We did not include breakfast however there are such a variety of restaurants and cafes that it actually worked out better for us.

Only negative is that price of alcohol seems a little excessive apart from that was perfect for our needs.

if i were to visit KL again, would definitely stay at The Journal again.

Fantastic modern hotel in a great location in the heart of Bukit Bintang. The hotel room has everything thought of from comfy bed to bathrobes, slippers, all major essentials like toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream and razor as well as all the regular items. The minibar is stocked with 3 kinds of juice and is complimentary. A large bottle of water supplied daily. There is even a TV with Netflix!
The breakfast was great, plenty of choice although more of an Asian breakfast it was enjoyable having curry and rice for breakfast as it was delicious!
The swimming club on the top floor of the hotel is a nice haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Serving drinks and snacks throughout the day and night.
I'd definitely return to this hotel when I come back to Kuala Lumpur!

If I'm an international traveler with friends, I would have considered this hotel as my choice. Room was decent, toilet was nicely decorated. Powerful shower head. Breakfast ala-carte was above expectations.

However, there was fluctuation on the room rates and the concierge had not briefed properly what are my room priviledges upon checking in, aside mentioning the time frame for breakfast. The swimming club was OK, provided clean towels upon entrance but there's no indication of where to place the towel. Small area but wasn't a lot of people. Expensive, overpriced drinks.

At night however, was a different look as the hotel is located across Arab street and just behind Changkat, so the area is more "lively". May not recommended if you walk alone. There was no one on the concierge when we returned around 9pm.
Oh, the parking is really really limited. Probably only fits less than 10 cars, so be early if you drive a car.

All in all, it was a decent staycation in the town and pretty much close and accessible to public transport as well.

5mins walk to Lot 10, 10mins to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Grab is easily accessible.

I saw the staycation package from KL Journal Hotel website and signed up for it last minute (1 day before trip) and I was extremely satisfied by the team's arrangements. It was for a birthday celebration and the team manage to decorate the room really nicely and used real rose petals (i've seen other hotels use fake petals).
There was also Wine and Helium Balloons which adds a nice touch to the ambiance.

Overall the experience was wonderful and the breakfast-in-bed was great. We actually asked for additional portion as we were heavy eaters and the team obliged to our request.

Highly recommend this hotel for a decent staycation and will surely return again

You will need to pay for your stay upfront if you use cash. They charge your credit card upfront so why would cash be any different? If you want to put incidentals on your room to pay on departure they take a guarantee amount of RM100 per person on your card if thats what you want to do. But you can pay as you go in the restaurant and bar if you prefer.
