Decided a quick 1 night stay at St Regis Kuala Lumpur this month (March 2020) and it turned out to be the best decision.

Having previously stayed at St Regis Langkawi, my expectations were sky high. I received an email from Ms Sally Choo a few days prior to my stay, and I appreciated that. Many hotels don't do this anymore, which is a shame. She checked in to see if I have any requests and preferences to make my stay more comfortable.

Upon arrival, no one opened the main door for me, which took me by surprise. Fortunately, this didn't happen for subsequent entries and exits

I was upgraded to a Grand Deluxe Double on the 20th floor, with sweeping views of the city skyline with huge top to bottom windows. My butler Wei Lung came into my room to give a tour of the room functions and features, and the available butler services. It is so great when you are orientated to your new room, which is such a plus. Appreciated this service.

The half hourly shuttle service to KL sentral is so convenient, as it is quite a distance to walk. The driver is polite and super friendly.

In the room, the in-room slippers had no St Regis logo which disappointed me a little. I loved the turndown service in the evening by housekeeping.

Breakfast at the Brasserie was a treat, with good quality options in buffet and ala carte. I had a peaceful breakfast with lovely staff around me ready to assist at my beck and call.

Impressive service set in the most stunning property. St Regis KL didn't disappoint me at all. St Regis is a trusted name in hospitality for a luxurious experience.

Although location may not be ideal as it is not directly close to KL sentral, it is worth every penny with its unparalleled service.

Location: the hotel is located in KL City Center near the central station. It is conveniently located for business travelers. Not much to do around the hotel (walking). Taxi fare is not expensive so getting to touristic attractions is no big of a deal and the traffic is moderate.

Room: I have stayed in deluxe room. The room is spacious and well maintained. Nicely designed & decorated. The design of the room is very warm and cozy. Bathroom is huge and fully marbled. The room is equipped with everything you need including Nespresso machine. Despite some notable cleaning issues, the room in general is clean.

Facilities: the lobby area is small and surely lacking the grand factor. Breakfast area is small too, thus expect some waiting time to be seated during high seasons. The pool area is great and over looking the Petronas and Manara Towers. The hotel has 24 GYM.

Services: St. Regis is well known for its services and St. Regis KL is no different. I had some issues during my stay and all of them were addressed to management and were resolved instantly. The only noticeable issue is that the people at the reception don't smile which make you feel unwelcomed but this is a minor issue.

Overall: I definitely recommend this hotel for business travel or for families looking for quite place.

Visited the hotel to celebrate a belated birthday trip and also the first travel in 2 years since covid started. Booked through the virtuoso rate and got upgraded to Caroline Astor suite at 1401 which comes with free breakfast and $100 credit that comes as a 3 course dinner at the Brasserie.

Recommend taking a grab to the hotel as walking is not feasible from KL Sentral station due to the long distance and many escalators especially when it’s raining and lots of luggage. Check in process was fast and swift and professional. In room amenities and welcome gift was in the form of a birthday cake and a fruit platter to celebrate the birthday. Used the services of the butler for packing and unpacking of luggage followed by complimentary hot chocolate served in room. Special thanks to the whole butler team (Zul, Alice and Kai Xuan) whether it’s a junior of senior staff, they clearly know what their roles are when requested.

Visited the Astor bar in the evening but unfortunately there was a photoshoot ongoing at that time thus making the ambiance brighter then usual. Its also a smoking bar so the bar is not for everyone who are sensitive to the smoke. Tried the Astrid cocktail after the famous crazy rich asians movie. Turndown service was as usual in any st Regis prompt and done well.

Breakfast was slightly chaotic due to the shortage of staff. Recommend coming later time as it will not be so crowded. Food quality was excellent and choices was concise compared to other hotels which offers more selection. Spa was currently closed and only upon request and done in room.

Got a late check out and though a small issue by one of the front desk lady upon billing one of the $100 credit dinner got charged even if it was part of the package rate.

Will definitely return soon for another stay once hotel business has fully resumed.

Such a stunning property with beautifully appointed rooms but let down by poor service at most touch points.

Came for a couples getaway and didn’t book direct. Booked the brasserie for dinner via the website at the same time.

The good
Check in fine, room and guest corridors were lovely, shower hot, bed huge and comfortable, cocktails at the bar were great. Breakfast was mostly good.

The poor
The brasserie dinner was a let down, food was Luke warm at best, there was a big table in the private room and 1 more in the main dining room, so service to our table was not very attentive, had to keep waving arms resulting in long waits. Staff could not explain dishes very well and didn’t know what the sauces were. Wine by glass selection was awful and cheap, the glass I ordered was corked. They constantly served the male (me) before my date (female), this is basic don’t you think. Warm water was served instead of asking if we wanted cold. This was the same at breakfast. The brasserie dinner was utterly underwhelming, there are better stand alone french restaurant experiences in KL.

Guest room
Arrived on a Friday and left on a Sunday. On arrival there was a nice welcome card for a different guest. How nice…

Ordered a Coke Zero and some pressing from butler’s , that took 2 separate visits from butler and in room dining, Coke Zero took forever.

The first day of cleaning on Saturday the room was not cleaned till 16:30. The empty glasses and mess in the minibar was never cleaned up.
On Friday night they turned down one side of the bed, on Saturday they turned down 2 sides of the bed.

Only one normal coffee pod in the room? What happens if both guests don’t want decaf? Coffee machine didn’t work, could not pull down the lever to secure the coffee pod. No corkscrew in the room, asked the butler for a corkscrew, he came to the room to confidently tell me there was one in the minibar, only to his surprise he could not find one.

Only one size bathrobe which was massive and too big for my girlfriend so I asked if there was a smaller bathrobe for a female, they brought a kids bathrobe. Really ?!?

Breakfast although packed and queues, which seemed to be managed ok, pastries were terrible.

It’s all the small things isn’t it, the details, the attention to the details that makes the difference, I could of gone to Ritz, MO or 4S…

Not once was my name used in my entire stay…

It’s a brand that’s gone off the boil, I understand that hotels have staffing issues, but if you can’t service the demand then don’t take the business.

Not sure Carmen Chua had this type of experience in mind when she opened the hotel…

You have a long way to go…

I am extremely disappointed with my stay. A few days ago I had called up the butler service to request for my room to be cleaned but upon my return at around 9 pm, it as still not cleaned. Despite the assurance from the duty manager it won’t happen again, it happened again today when I had called to have my room cleaned at around 10.30am when I returned at around 2 pm the room was still not cleaned and all the plates from breakfast had not been cleared up. If this happened in some cheap bed and breakfast I may have not been so disappointed but St Regis is suppose to be like a 5 to 6 star hotel so this is totally unacceptable. Please live up to your name

The overall service provided was superior, made me felt that I’m truly welcomed as a honorable guest. All processes were executed perfectly, I was very impressed and satisfied. I hereby would like to specially thank to Mr. Hirman, who showed me warm smiles from the very first step I walked in, and dedicated to help me carry my baggages; and Mr. Adeeb, who expertly and humorously welcomed me for check-in and surprised me for room upgrade. As a very picky Marriott Titanium, I hope the hotel manager could encourage other staffs to serve like them, because their service mind really made the hotel luxurious and supreme.

I have stayed at a few St Regis properties in Asia and the St Regis in KL keeps the reputation of this brand in tact.

The space is large and furnishing feels luxurious. As a Titanium Elite member, I was upgraded to the St Regis suite which was very comfortable and beautiful. There was a spa room in the suite and a wonderful bathroom that was fitted with floor to ceiling automatic curtains. I was also very impressed with the breakfast and prompt butler service and would definitely return to stay.

Thank you to Lucas and Stephanie for providing a good check-in experience, and my butler Vicky who took good care to make sure my stay was an enjoyable one. Appreciate the little touches and the chocolates at turn-down service!

I stayed during the hari merdeka long weekend on an overnight dinner and breakfast offer, hoping to indulge in five star excess and be pampered to within an inch of my life. Instead, I was greeted with shoddy standards and inconsistent service.

Don't get me wrong, the rooms and facilities themselves are top tier. Sumptuous and elegant. I felt whisked away to 1930s New York. Where the St Regis let itself down is the service. Firstly, it underestimated how busy it would be on the weekend I was there so there was not enough staff. Check in took an eternity. People were queueing to enter breakfast the following morning (which resembled a rugby scrum - I couldn't see why patrons weren't moved to the Drawing Room), dinner was not set at 6 in the Brasserie (which is when it is supposed to) which meant waiters were dragging furniture in and out and noisely setting tables around me, when I was hoping to have an intimate meal. And IT was down when I tried to check out the following morning. It all combined to give the place an amateur vibe. An oppulent setting not matched by service standards. To be fair the gallant staff did their best though but were simply overwhelmed.

To cap it off I returned home with a terrible bout of gastro which could have only come from the hotel given I had had dinner and breakfast there.

The TVs in the rooms couldn't connect to streaming apps which is disappointing when most places now offer this. And there was no milk sachets in the minibar for those who like their coffee white. This should be standard.

This was my first time at a St Regis and I'm glad I tried it. I'll need some convincing to do so again.

Recently stayed at the St Regis Kuala Lumpur as a Titanium member (June 2022)
Check-in was not the best I've experienced. The person gave me the key without providing any explanations regarding the facilities, opening hours...etc
So I had to ask for a quick overview.

I was informed that the Butler service was limited to 2 drinks per night ... not a big deal after noticing how useless it was. Indeed, I would later realize that the cappuccinos and hot chocolate they brought to my room were coming from a cheap coffee machine. This is very cheap since they have a barista on site that could have made a proper coffee.

No welcome letter in the suite and the welcome amenity was a joke: 2 cookies.
The Caroline Astor suite itself was confortable with a nice view on the park. The gym had nice equipment but the TV/Internet connected to the machines were not working. Breakfast was pretty good with coffee made by a barista. The Nasi Lemak with shrimps was my favourite.

I asked if I could get a glass of Sparkling water and was shocked to learn that I would be charged for that... didn't know that soda water was that expensive

When checking out the next day, no one bothered to ask me how my stay was and if there was anything they could improve.

In the end, it was a disappointing stay that does not match St Regis typical standards. There are far better Bonvoy properties with Lounge in Kuala Lumpur that are 3 times cheaper.

Dear Artevias, Greetings from the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I deeply regret to have come to know of the shortfalls that you have experience during your past experience with us especially with the Butler experience and overall services. We have taken immediate action to ensure that this incident would not happen again to any of our Guests in the future. Totally agreed with you no matter how busy or intense the operation was, there is no reason for things to appear in such a state that it has surprised you negatively. Had high tea at The St Regis KL during the post-re-MCO state in September 2021.

Firstly, on the COVID compliance.
I would say very well done as the place is well ventilated. When you first enter the Drawing room, one would be surprised as it is not that big (more of huge mirrors surrounding the room). Although there were many guests, physical distancing was possible and workers were wearing masks at all times.

Now, on to the food:
1. It comprises 2 sets: 1 is a tray filled with delicious desserts (cheesecakes shaped as roses, apples and MORE) with another savoury plate (which is refillable).
2. The presentation of the high tea, desserts, crockery was top notch! Extremely pleasing to the eye.
3. Most of the desserts were very good. The scones too were nice but I felt that it was a bit too crumbly as it would disintegrate prior to eating it. The jam and butter was an excellent pairing with the scones.

Finally, the horse by Fernando Botero provided a striking background for beautiful pictures all over.

Overall, a very good experience and will be back.
