My husband and I had a great stay at Fernwood Cottage this past weekend. We stayed in the Bluebird Suite, which looked just like the photos on the website (except now with a flat-screen TV). Once we checked in with Daphne, it was as if we were staying in our own home ... we came and went as we pleased and had plenty of privacy. (As you might expect in a rental property, no daily cleaning. It might have also been a few days since the last renters checked out because the suite was clean except for the dead ladybugs. It is ladybug season, so there were several.)
The suite was very large, though the bathroom is really only big enough for one person to use the mirror and sink at a time. Still, two people could certainly be comfortable for a long stay there. The kitchen was pretty big with a good-sized fridge and many of the utensils and tools you would need to cook there. Roy and Daphne stock the kitchen with milk, orange juice, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, tea and hot chocolate for two mornings. (Our room only had Sweet 'n' Low packets. They might have just not replenished the sugar and Splenda, but as I prefer those, I would bring my own next time.) There is a closet between the two suites with a washer, dryer, iron and ironing board for guests to use, which was a nice addition.
The property is very beautiful. We explored just a bit but were there for a wedding at Hawksdene House (five minutes away), so we did not have much time to kill.

Everything you need is provided for your stay. The cottage is up-to-date in furnishings and decor, very clean, smells great, well-lit, and had all the amenities of a nice hotel, but with the cozy touches of home. Kitchen is well furnished for simple meal preparation. Milk, juice, coffee and muffins & cereal were provided upon arrival. Loved it and will use it again.

My husband and I stayed in the Bluebird Suite and we loved it. We truly enjoyed our time at this very special cottage tucked away in the mountains. It was so relaxing in such a beautiful environment!! Mrs. Daphne immediately made us feel welcome and we really enjoyed talking with her and learning about the area.
Everything was perfect and gorgeous - the walking trails, paddleboat on the lake, the vineyards, the landscape, and the cottage was so cozy and relaxing. We loved the fresh baked muffins and the wide selection of cereal, tea, and coffee for breakfast. It was so wonderful. We will be telling everyone about it. We can't wait to go back! :)

I only had a couple of nights in the area, but my wife and I were welcomed and made to feel at home! Wonderful, clean roo, like new, with a beautiful view and great amenities! One of my best stays Ina long while!

This is a Great Place! Close To Everything! Pet Friendly! Plenty of places to Walk the Dogs! Internet is Great!! We Definitely Will Come Back And Highly Recommend It! Has Air Conditioner! It’s only 17 minutes From Murphy NC!

My Mom and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. We were in the Bluebird suite - which was exactly like the pictures show. The rooms were super clean and fresh. There was juice, muffins, coffee, and cereal available for breakfast. There is use of a washer/dryer and iron available. The surroundings are pristine and very peaceful. Daphne was very sweet and accommodating. I would definitely stay again if I am in the area.

If you are ever in the Adrews, NC area and are looking for a place to stay, you can't go wrong with Fernwood Cottage. It is located on 20+ acres in a mountain cove with a small pond and walking trails, there are 2 suites, both very nice. Decorated nicely, very clean and provides a lot of privacy. The is an outside deck area with a gas grill available for guests to use. Check it out! Will most certainly return.
