The ideal is ideal for easy walk to plays and restaurants; the setting and garden are outstanding especially from our room on the lower floor with a private entrance. It was very comfortable for us and our little dog, Annie. The breakfasts were a delight ....original, delicious meals and stimulating conversations with Ellen and the other guests. Well trained staff...

My husband and I visit Ashland every year for our OSF theater immersion, and have stayed at several wonderful B&Bs over the years. Clearly the bar is set high in this town, so the number of five-star reviews (including mine) for Chanticleer won't steer you astray. Chanticleer is a lovely craftsman style home, comfortable and spacious, well maintained, with beautiful...

We have now stayed twice at the Chanticleer and already plan to stay there again next year. Ellen is an amazing hostess and cook and made great suggestions for touring around the local area including finding great restaurants and wineries. We love the breakfasts, particularly being able to meet other guests and learn about their experiences. It's a lovely home...

Although I travel often for work, both in and out of the U.S., I have rarely stayed in B&Bs. After visiting our oldest son in Portland and taking a relatively slow scenic drive to LA to visit out youngest son, we decided to B&B our way down the coast over 5 days. Two B&Bs stood out above the rest, and...

The Chanticleer and its innkeeper, Ellen, provide a wonderful place to stay. We have stayed at several B&Bs in Ashland and elsewhere and this is by far the best. Quiet, welcoming, an easy walk to the centre of town and the festival sites, and an excellent breakfast in the company of interesting guests from diverse backgrounds and places. Quite simply...

Chanticleer is situated on a lovely residential street and pleasant walk to OSF. Ellen made a nice breakfast and the conversation around the dining table added to the family atmosphere. Ellen gave us great suggestions on things to do and see.

My wife and I have limited experience staying at B&Bs, but I have a pretty good feeling that Ellen and the Chanticleer Inn set the bar for our future B&B stays. Ellen was a gracious host who made our stay delightful and met our needs with great recommendations for outdoor activities (hike at Grizzly Peak, day trip to Jacksonville) and...

After our 10th year of staying at the Chanticleer, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we are in Ashland. Ellen is so welcoming, the breakfasts exceptional and the grounds beautiful. As an added bonus, you can walk to the theaters and restaurants.
