My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this motel while we were visiting Big Bend Country. I really loved the Old West feel and decor of The Maverick Inn. Our check in experience was fast and the staff very friendly and helpful. As expected, based on prior reviews, our room was small and cozy with a small bathroom with... More

The Maverick Inn is everything it offers in its description except for breakfast. Rooms cozy and bathrooms small but expected for age of inn. Love the trains, reminds me of my childhood. The country breakfast was nonexistent! No coffee, no eggs, no sausage, no biscuits and little gravy. Had to wait for the receptionist to cook everything while also dealing... More

Hello Kirk, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are glad that you appreciated the rooms and the property. We do apologize that you had to wait for breakfast. Quick 3 day get away. Great town and great place to stay. Our room was on of the larger rooms and located toward the middle of the complex. Rooms at the front do have some Hwy 90 traffic noise. All the rooms (as well as almost every room in Alpine) get to hear the trains. Swimming pool is a nice... More

Really a neat little motor lodge. I would give it a 5 if it weren't for the trains that go by at night. (They give you ear plugs for that, though!) Otherwise, a fun place. Right across from Sul Ross University, a great place for a nice run in the morning.

Hello Larry, Thank you for writing a review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed our 1930s motor court inn! Next time you are in the area, you should check out the hike up Hancock Hill, also accessible from the Sul Ross campus. It will give you a new outlook on higher education! See you again soon! This property tries hard to be more than it is. Cute facade and comfortable beds can't hide the fact that there's a lot left to be desired. While the beds were great, the bathroom was comically small, especially the shower. To top it off, the shower had very little water pressure and it was hard to blend the temperature. Talk... More

We arrived on the biggest week in the area. There was a major concert going on and entire town was bustling. We arrived to hotel and were greated by the k9 manager and extreamly friendly staff. Went to our room and were very pleased to find a quiet relaxing space. We had a wonderful stay.

Nice clean room - the A/c worked great on a hot day! Probably the coolest leather carved key chain ever! The parking was a bit tight, but not too bad. Didn't do breakfast (wish is it was served earlier than 7:30am), so I cannot vouch for that.

If you are in Alpine on business, stay at one of the generic chains that all look the same. If you are there to relax or experience a true West Texas retreat, stay at the Maverick Inn.
