Mercure Belém Boulevard is located in a nice neighborhood, with easy access to main tourist and historical attractions. It's 20 minutes away from the International Airport Val de Cans and 10 minutes from the Basilica Nossa Senhora de Nazare. In a true cultural renaissance, the city presents museums, churches and restored old big houses, surrounded by modern leisure areas and cultural centers. There are streets where the tourist can enjoy the shades of the mango trees, immense green areas, good restaurants and the delicious regional typical culinary, besides the bars with a lot of charm and entertainment

As a member of the ALL frequent guest program I saw that there are 2 Mercure properties in Belem do Para city and despite a negative experience with a Mercure establishment in another Brazilian city 3 years ago I wanted to experience a different one in a north east Brazilian city. Although I am satisfied with Mercure Belem Boulevard I am not keen on some weaknesses that should be corrected. Mercure Belem Boulevard being located in Umarizal, a newer area than where the Grand Mercure is located, defined my choice. The building of the Mercure Belem Boulevard lodge is very modern and is indeed a skyscraper in an area where several ones coexist. The swimming pool in the highest floor, the 30st, is imponent and provides an stunning view of the city. Breakfast is very good featuring many tropical fruits and with a wide variety of things. I was offered fried eggs and tapiocas more than once and that was great from one of the waiters. However, I found the Varanda restaurant with a pleasant ambiance to be expensive, for instance a long neck beer costing 12 BRL is high-priced compared with what is worth in other properties where I stayed in Brazil such a high-level Praia do Futuro hotel in which has an outlay of 6 BRL. Service was slow as for the New Year dinner it took more than 1 hour to have a burger served... Being expensive and slow service implies to be even more coslty for what it is. My check in was not fast, and the agent in charge seemed not too practical for that task. Room was really spacious with an excellent desk for working and the air conditioning makes the area highly pleasant. But frigobar was empty and just a caju chestnuts packet... Toilet seat was loose and unsteady. Business center located in the 3rd floor having a well-working desktop computer and comfortable armchairs requires air conditioning and some more lighting but it is quite adequate. I was surprised to see that the bar in the 3rd floor, which seems to be avant-garde, was closed during the 5 days of my stay. Points have not yet been credited to my ALL account for my food and beverage bill despite of my claim emailed to the reservation agent Glenda Souza. I am kindly asking her to have them credited.

Dear Mr. Musiretoi, Thank you for bringing to our attention your important impressions referring to your stay with us. We work hard with trainnings, and the team focus is to offer a warm and efficient service. We would like to thank you for your contribution. We are having a soft refurbishment and the 3rd floor and the restaurant is included. We have discussed among the departments involved to avoid those misconceptions in the future. Thank you again for your cooperation, and if there is a chance to stay with us again, please let me know. I would like to take care of you reservation in person. Sincerely, Ariane Mathne General Manager

Another average Mercure hotel. Good, ample rooms, with lots of space and a decent bed and bathroom. Probably needing a refurbish quite soon, it offers a good alternative for a business stay in Belem. Breakfast a little below the isual chain standard and a very slow check-in and check-out process, no matter if you are an Accor member or have booked in advance. Chain style.

I got back home and figured out the hard way that I left my keys in Brazil...ugh. I contacted the hotel and was so happy to learn that the hotel had them... they even sent a picture. I offered numerous times to tell them I would pay to ship the keys back. At one point a manager was going to be in Miami at the same time I was and said he would bring me the keys but I did not hear from him. Arghhh! Last I heard in February was that they would get back to me. Still waiting. Other than that the stay was fine. It was nice to have a person fluent in English at the front desk.

Dear Mr. Noodlechecker, We feel sorry for the lost of your keys, but we believe that perhaps may happened in other hotel instead of Mercure Belém Boulevard. We had a deep research internally and there is no information about this case and also there wasn't any manager going to Miami. We feel sorry for not be able to help you. Kind regards, Ariane Mathne General Manager
