You feel home there. I adored the feeling of the place, the furniture and people. I didn't enjoy the food but everything else including my room and the sounds of birds was perfect. I liked that reception staff help you arrange your boat trips and they recommend places to visit in Paraty

Great location. Beautifully decorated. Helpful and attentive staff. People party in the adjacent square until around 1 or 2 am so if you are not accustomed to noise when sleeping I would ask to be further away from the sq or just take down a couple caipirinha before bed and suck it up. breakfast was excellent with traditional Brazilian breakfast... I just read many of the previous reviews and while I would agree that the rooms are simple - they are clean and tidy. What set this a part for us was the common areas - beautifully attended to in a charming way. Several public sitting areas that were cozy. My husband also found the pool area relaxing. The breakfast... More

On our principal way from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro we came along Costa Verde and stopped in Paraty. After checking 3 to 4 Pousada we decided to stay at Pousada da Marquesa. The price was okay, though not cheap. The public rooms and areas are nicely decorated, however the rooms are poor. The beds are small, the bathroom... More

We enjoyed our two night stay in Paraty at the Pousada Marquesa - we found the staff at the hotel very helpful. Possibly, it was a little overpriced for South America. During our stay, a festival was taking place in the local parish church which allowed us to get a feel for the local community.

We had three nights at this hotel. We had specifically asked for, and had been assured TWICE by Bruno (the only English speaker on staff, apparently) by email when we booked and confirmed that we would get a quiet room away from the square. When we arrived we were given a room at the front of the hotel, on the... More

I stayed for three nights in Pousada da Marquesa with two friend of mine who were visiting Brazil from abroad. We arrived on a Monday and stayed over on a Tuesday, which was a holidady in Brazil and left on a Wednesday. During the holidays the hotel offered one type of service and breakfast, but the working day it changed... More

We stayed at the Pousada for just one night, breaking the road journey from Rio to Santos. What an amazing place Paraty really is, and the Marquesa did not disappoint either. The public areas are full of old bits and pieces, clocks, nautical items, cash tills, sewing machines....all sorts. The garden area has a pool with terrace for drinks and... More

This is a wonderful establishment which is well located, fabulous garden and swimming pool area, excellent service and most importantly it has kept the style and charm of the period it represents which dates back to the 18th Century - in other words an authentic experience for those who are seeking this kind of window into the past. The only... More
