I really don't understand why this is considered by many a nice, calm place. The architecture is ok, copy of the colonial style of the old city. We had a master suite to the river, which is quite narrow and to behind this river there is a busy avenue. On the weekends this avenue gets really busy with cars and noisy motorcycles. Had to sleep with earplugs. Worse than that, one person of our family got sick and couldn't join us, at the reception they kept telling us that we could adapt the room rates if we talked to booking.com, at booking they said it was with the hotel. After 2 days I realized the reception was playing a game just to upset us because we didn't book directly with them. there are nicer spots in Paraty.
Corsario is a very nice pousada . Very well located , close to the historic center and with a fantastic leisure area , nice pool and games room. The staff is atentive and helpful. The breakfast is complete and th service is very good.
The Pousada is not accesible for a big bus so we had to walk with our luggage for 250 metres on cobblestones wich are big and uneven. The pousada had no one to help us although there were some old people in the group but there were 2 porters in the pousada to take our luggage from the reception to the room ! Only spoken language by check inn was Portugees, luckely the busdriver helped us translating. Next day there was 1 person speaking English who helped us finding( and translating) a doctor who was speaking only Portugees. It's a nice place along the river with a swimming pool, 5 minutes walk on the main road to the old town with many restaurants and bars The rooms are a bit little for a long stay and the're no insect screens for the windows. We had room 26 and taking a shower is not without danger because the wire connecting is open above the electric waterheater in the shower. 1° evening the kitchinstaf was big enough to cook for a group off 36 persons but next evening there was only 1 person( very friendly) in charge off the kitchin AND the bar. The menu is limited so if you want an evening meal : go to the old town. For the breakfast you have plenty off choice and the personal is very friendly and helpfull, but only speaking (again) Portugees. …
I was in Paraty for the FLIP literary festival and booked in here. Location was excellent, not quite ten minutes down the main shopping drag to the historic centre. Room was adequate, decor a bit tired around the edges, and wi-fi wasn't particularly fast but let's face it, you don't go to Paraty to stay in your room and watch videos. Each unit has a hammock and the gardens are lovely. Breakfast room, bar, pool over look the canal and up to the mountains. House staff were pleasant, although English was spoken by only a few. they were able to sort me out with an adaptor plug which was very useful. I would happily stay here again.
A short, easy walk to town (we liked to make it into a loop by walking one direction along the main road and the other along the river path), a refreshing pool, a good breakfast, a clean and comfortable room, a relaxing hammock, located on the river, with an easy check-in and out... enjoy!
