Wonderful days we spent at the home of Carmen and Fernando. Good conversation. Excellent atmosphere. Music always following us in the bright living room. A beauty indeed. For those who want a Rio de Janeiro where friends are neighbors who know each other and play together. Stay in Santa Teresa. Stay in the house of Carmen and Fernando. We recommend.

I have travelled extensively in South America, and I prefer to stay at Bed and Breakfasts rather than hotels - I have stayed in some of the most wonderful bed and breakfasts in other cities, and after viewing the riviews for this place I decided to stay here. I was looking forward to it, but it turned out to be...

This B&B has to be one of the best values on accommodations in Rio. The house is beautiful, the hosts are generous and gracious, and the prices are very reasonable. There is a lot to like about this place. A huge picture window in the living room that looks onto downtown in the foreground and Guanabara Bay and Niteroi in...

Our stay at Carmen and Fernando's was the best part of our 3 weeks trip in Brazil. We ended our trip in Rio and were so happy to arrive in such a beautiful house a wonderful room. We came to this b&b in Santa Teresa because some of our friends in Rio were close friends with Carmen & Fernando. My room was with some refurbishing going on, so they charged me much less than expected. Breakfast was in a huge kitchen table, very complete and sort of a meeting point with other guests. The living room is...

This is one of the best places in Rio to stay. It is very safe and quiet in a fabulous location. They provide excellent service, and the atmosphere is amazing - very artistic and eclectic decor - which makes for a really enjoyable stay. The staff is awesome, and I had a great view of the marina and really felt...

It was our first time in Rio de Janeiro and we spent 7 nights at Carmen and Fernando. Case de Carmen e do Fernando is in Santa Teresa, a charming quarter of Rio. We are very happy that we have not chosen an accommodation at Copacabana or Ipanema, cause Santa Teresa is a very beautiful and relaxed quarter. The rooms...

We stayed at this pousada in Santa Teresa just after Carnaval 2010. We found it from Trip Advisor and to be honest...were expecting quite a bit more. Perhaps it was just the last room available (downstairs under the terrace). The room itself was setup as a bunk/bed loft with very little standing room available (we had to stoop most of...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
