The reception girl was pleasant enough but there was nothing else good to say about this place Situated in a sketchy area of Rio- felt unsafe at night. The twin room was boiling hot and the fan only cooled one of the beds. At reception there were free condoms and notices about prostitution. In the shared bathroom t5her were notices...

I booked a 2 week stay at this hotel, which, according to the Travelstart website, was apparently voted the No 1 hotel in 2016. I disagree! This is more of a hostel than a hotel. The photo's are very deceiving. Firstly, contrary to the website, the staff is not bilingual. While the room was clean, it was tiny, the towels...

This hotel is a little hard to spot from some angles but it is a decent hotel for the area. Yes it is in Centro and is very close to Central do Brasil bus station and railway station so getting around is no problem. Yes of course you have to be cautious when you are around Independence Square at dark...

Booked it and regretted it before seen room. Prostitution outside of hotel. Bad/dirty neighborhood. Paid for 3 nights, left after 1. Did not sleep. Didn't feel safe. Skeleton keys for your door. Ants in both rooms. Smelled. Breakfast not even worth it being free. Staff seemed nice enough. But no amount off friendliness or great guest services would change the...

The hotel offers basic services on a fair price but I didn't like the surroundings which are a bit shady. I recommend it because it's situated pretty close to famous places like Rio Scenarium or Carioca da Gema where you can have really nice Samba nights.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
